I agree but the cabelas are a knock off of the off shore/opti tackle design with very nice releases.

I prefer the cabelas boards over the off shore just because of the releases and adjustable keel weight. They are a lot cheaper to boot. They are a opti tackle I think with better releases. The releases on the cabelas boards are the best for braid and small diameter mono. I broke 1 release trying to clip it on 50lbs. mono.

Who keeps those slimy awful tasting pike anyway? I only keep walleye. With that being said if keeping 3 fish a day is over harvesting then lower the creel limits. Isn't that what DEC gets finding for?

I have heard of some using metal conduit of the same size diameter. Not sure have never tried this.

I would drill out and replace with new then you don't have to worry about getting into the back of the rivet. Make sure and use a blind rivet of correct size and 5200 the rivet.

What are the specs on the 309? How much line at what weight will it hold?

Add a swivel at the rear of the board in place of the pinch pad and clip it over your main line. This will keep it on your line and allow it to slide back to the fish/leader. The smaller the swivel the more likely to get caught on your leader. I would rather it go all the way to the fish being in a Yak you can get the fish and board at the same time.

If I remember correctly the newer telescoping arm will fit in the older bases.

Yeah I'm just looking to bring the bow down when needed. I have 18* deadrise so it isn't too bad but leveling with varying loads and fighting different seas is a plus. I store my boat on a lift all summer then in a pole barn for the winter. Anyone know if bennett still has lifetime warranty on the actuators? EDIT: Yes there is lifetime warranty on actuators electric or hydraulic (purchased after 9/15/15) and 3 years on switches.

Yeah they will help me lower the bow and allow to level the boat left to right. I want to still be able to raise the bow like you said I can use my outboard trim but the smart tabs are always down and I don't think they will allow me to raise the bow when needed. No real forward storage I have a bulk head about 3' in front of the transom I might be able to use but it is tough to get access to it. I was thinking of running the leads under the gas tank to the front where I can fish them up the same spot as the bilge pump wires. When I split the cap and hull next year I am putting in schedule 80 piping for fishing wires from front to back. It is ridiculous trying to run anything on this old girl.

I don't think those would allow me to raise the bow when needed. I like having the ability to raise the bow in rougher seas to prevent waves from coming over the bow. I fish on the east end and regularly fish 2'-3' waves, but don't have the ability to level my ride when it lists.

I was wondering if anyone out there has electric trim tabs? I was looking into a set of tabs last year but held off now I am looking again I just want to be able to help level out the boat with a few extra people. My boat is 23' and I am looking for some advice. I was thinking electric because I don't really have a place to mount the hydraulic motor where it is easily accessible to hook up and route the lines.

Also don't test them while on the boat incase something wrong. Give them a test on shore to make sure you know what you are doing. My step mother's cousin watched a guy strike one at a car accident and it broke off and went down his boot. Not a good situation, be careful they are not toys.

Just make sure she is lowered/trimmed down all the way and all of the water should drain out. My outboard actually has a small hole in the front of the mid section to allow water to drain after it is trimmed up.

If you're planning on using it again in the next few weeks I wouldn't worry about it. If it were going to sit for a month plus then I would winterize. It's only to keep the engine internals from corroding/rusting.
