  1. I've gone to the store on four different occasions in the last three years. Two of the times, he was not open. I had to hunt the owner down in one of the restaurants after waiting outside for twenty minutes in front of his store. I guess they don't silver plate the 44's anymore. He didn't have any in stock. If you guys have any of the old 44's, they are very hard to get a hold of.
  2. I took a boat safety class this past February and heard the same thing about 1/2 the victims with their fly down taking a leak over the side of the boat and falling out. When you think about what it would be like having two riggers, three planers lines on each side with otters and a chute rod. Then someone falling over and the water is 44 degrees in two to three footer waves. Trying to turn the boat around and clear everything. They were telling us that if that ever happens, at least one person should keep his eye on the person in the water and not take your eyes off of them. If you look away for even a few seconds you might lose sight of them. It's a lot safer to have a pee bottle than trying to hang off the side or back. Just my two cents.
  3. I have an Eagle Magna III Plus fishfinder that is about ten years old. Maybe older, because it came with the boat when I bought it. I need a new transducer and when I try to look it up, Lowrance keeps popping up. Aren't Eagle and Lowrance two separate company's? Any ideas where I can purchase a transducer for this unit in the Rochester area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  4. If you are looking for trout and salmon stuff, take a ride out to Captains Cove about 30 miles West of Rochester. Large selection of spoons, Stingers, NK's, Moonshines, Dreamweavers, all kinds of Spin Doctors. Many types and colors of different tapes.
  5. Thanks guys. I'm going to spend a few extra bucks and buy something dependable in case I get in trouble way out there. Whoever mentioned it is probably the most important piece of equipment on the boat is right.
  6. Thanks for all the help. I didn't realize about the connections and connecting to a secondary battery.
  7. I want to purchase a marine radio. I don't need anything fancy but something that will pick up the weather alerts and something that has a good range. I want to buy new not used. What would you recommend?? Thanks
  8. Thanks guys for answering my question. That's what I love about this site. Foks who are willing to help out. May you guys have many screaming reels, sore arms and big smiles this season.
  9. Hi All, I have a question. Where can I purchase shrink tubing and how do I install it. I want to put it over my swivels when I join the backing to the copper and fluorocarbon leader to copper. I don't like the idea of the metal swivel hitting the ceramic tip of my rod when reeling in and I thought the shrink wrap may protect it. Thanks
  10. I still have a brand new one in the plastic container that I have never used.
  11. Someone said there were gas pockets on several of the ponds causing a few small sections of open water.
  12. Thanks for the address. Just received my state return today. Federal return will probably be coming this week or next. Time to buy more gear
  13. What is the address for the GPS for us out of towners? Thanks
  14. Thanks for the info guys. I paid twenty bucks for the two rods and reels all together. Like I said, I'll add them to the collection
  15. Thanks for the info guys. I thought maybe I could put a 500 foot spool of copper on them. I guess I'll just add them to the old rod and reel collection pile.
  16. I have never gone to it but I always wish I had. I have seen the photos of it and it looks llike a great show. One of these years.
  17. I recently purchased two old short ocean rods with reels. One of the rods has rollers and the other has regular metal guides. They are about as flexible as a broom stick. One of the reels reel has on the side Super Mariner and the other one has Deep Sea Reel on its side. They both say Penn 49. The reels are narrower than regular trolling reels but their dameter is a lot larger than regular trolling reels. They are heavy also. I wanted to try the reels on trolling rods. Is anyone familiar with these model reels and would they be any good to use in Lake O.
  18. I have a bunch of these also. I bought them four years ago at an estate sale and didn't know what they were. I have never used them.cause I'm always hearing of evereyone using NK's, Stingers and Dream Weavers. I was going to let them go for a buck a piece. I'm glad I didn't. I'm going to use these first, come spring 2014 before using everything else. Thanks for identifying these.
  19. You should take Sk8man's advice call the DEC and have them come out their to find out what's going on.

    I-Bay 10/4

Hey Luke, Thanks for the report. My eleven year old and I are waiting for the right time to go out there and try to get some perch. Every fall I let him play hooky one day to go perch fishing at Irondequoit. It's a special father/son day. He loves catching them while I take them off the hook. He loves eating them too. It kind of reminds me of when I was a kid and my dad use to let me skip school for opening day at Naples Creek on April 1st. Some things we never forget.
  21. Do you ever target pike in the fall in Braddocks? My dad said Irondequoit Bay use to be good in the fall but that was many years ago. Braddocks is a lot closer to me than Irondequoit.
  22. It happens to me too. It's a pain sometimes.
  23. Try asking that question in the bass forum. Someone there should be able to answer your question.
