  1. Guy reeling in the fish. Just because I paid for my kid to play soccer and drove him to practice and the games doesn't mean that I get his trophy at the end of the season. I am just proud to be part of it. I can see the statistical part of trolling though. It is mostly luck who grabs which rod when it pops. I grabbed the rod when a steely was so laim I wasn't even sure it was on there and the next rod went and the fish is doing back flips before he even grabbed the rod. I am still whining about that. Luck of draw on those trolling vessels. Don't worry be happy. Keep a picture of the fish on your boat for future reference.
  2. Couple weeks ago I was heading out the chute of the merrimack and the beaches were loaded with guys reef fishing for them. Going back in July - I hope to find a charter to go get some Blues and Stripers. In May, I went out to the ledge for some cod/haddock. Like Justin said. "Can't do it all." I would like to add "but I want to." Joe PS: Striper meat is twice as good as Wiper meat but similar just the same. Also, help get the fishery back even stronger by letting all the big girls go and keeping the smaller fish instead. That fish in my avatar was spared the knife because I believe in it. I still took home fish that day. Tasty fish...
  3. Justin, That's my favorite size. Good job. Joe
  4. Got a dozen this weekend - still full of eggs.
  5. Fish was caught in Tioga, PA. The PFBC stocks them in Hammond resevoir. If anyone is interested in fishing for them, Don from the Tackleshack in Wellsboro, PA can point you in the right direction. He has some posts on this site. He is very helpful and knows Tioga county very well. Joe
  6. 11lbs 4oz 27 inches long 19 inch girth
  7. I know how much effort you put into gettn ready for the season. I sure hope this is it. Good luck with it. Oh yeah, keep postn those pics. It gets me energized. Joe
  8. 2 fast trac premium for everything other than the car and truck. I tell everybody. Corn's for turkeys.
  9. I think I feel worse when I am the one doing the catching and I have to watch someone struggle with it fully knowing they are as good or better a fisherman than I am. I have a saying when I am not catching anything. "They can't can't all be banner days. "Its fishing - not getting!"
  10. Looks good Justin. Are you noticing a lot of belly fat?
  11. Chris, Go back when it is not this or do some bass fishing.
  12. My biggest is about 3 lbs. It is also my only one. Pikefreak - that is a serious catch. Congratulations!
  13. Just read this (title) on USA Today. Caught some crappie Saturday - still had eggs.
  14. I am officially calling it quits this May. I don't mind not shooting them but not hearing them is unacceptable and to think i decided to chase turkeys instead of crappies is starting agitate me a little bit right now. I still believe there are a lot of birds. I think the hens still have their undivided attention. I will wait till fall to cry shinanigans. I usually get an accurate flock assessment at this time. Spring they are all spread out. I know one guy who had a good season and had a good time calling them in but a lot of other seasoned people whom I trust to do well had difficulties. Oh well... That is how it goes.
  15. Brown/Brook hybrid. Extremely rare. I actually don't know but if I was talking to children or people that didn't know any better... this is what I would tell them. Send to Cortland for fish ID. It is interesting.
  16. I know what one feels like. Go to the hospital or did you dig em out for him?
  17. Biggest bird I ever got was with 23/4 skeet shell. At 5 yards the muzzle blast gets em. I still say go with the right shell. Back then I didn't know any better.
  18. Kevin, The hype on these is going to be short lived. Looked all for them. Found them, bought them, and then shot them. Extremely disappointed. Back to Turkey thugs for me. Joe
  19. I do not find them that annoying when they are all over 20 but when they start all being around 15 or less they are a major pain in the sphincter. Best to feed the eagles and the snappers when it gets like that.
  20. I read a history of the stocking in PA and it didn't read as a complete success story. I do not know if stocking is the right word but they moved animals from the west back to the East. The Eastern elk subspecies had a different diet and I think that is part of the problem. The Rocky mountain genome didn't like the different diet. Too many people living in the woods was another and of course farmer complaints. I Believe a lot of the forests stocked didn't take and then they had to manage the herd (where they did take) which seems to be doing well now. Other than that I do not know much one way or another. If they reintroduce wolves I am going to go ballistic. Figuratively at least.
