Devon and I set up in 200 and worked 130 to 280 from 6 till 1. Very very slow and very few marks or bait pods. Took two fish, one on a 400 copper pulling a paddle with meat the other down 100 with paddle and meat. Hopefully things set up, things can only get better.

Derby starts a week from today. As always should be interesting. Cold water has blown in to replace the warm and a west blow to follow. Looking forward to it. Love to see a jig guy hang a king in the top 20.

Yep it is a Centurian!

The first year I fished the lake I had two dipsy rods. First day out I caught a 27lb king. You can go out with two diver rods and be successful. I would run spin dr fly on the deeper rod and a standard size (not mag) on the other. Took my son’s boat out a couple years ago solo just for fun. Good luck.

They were buried for a while. Eventually five or so men jumped in the water and a bunch of people, including the little girls without PFD’s got on the bow. Looked like a very new very expensive boat. No way the operator was familiar with the channel. I wanted to render assistance but it wasn’t life threatening and no way I could tow that boat with all those people through the channel.

And none on little kids. Crazy

Wife wanted to go on the boat for an hour or so this afternoon. Decided to take a ride around the bay, offshore a little sloppy and it was going to be a short ride. Watched a lot of boats blast through the channel, not something I want to do. Saw a boat, 16 or 17 adults and 2 or 3 little girls without life jackets try to go north through the channel trimmed down at enough power to throw a big wake. They buried the prop in the section that’s only a couple feet deep. 4 or 5 guys got out and pushed it back in the channel and last I saw they were drifting north. Took a fly by but no way I could tow them anywhere into a stiff south wind through two feet of water.

Pete is a lake trout guy also. Finger lakes and Ontario. Has done it for many years. Based on the smile on his face, he just may be doing a little more of this.

Could be Rick, wasn’t paying much attention. In and out lol. Maybe was.

Pete Collin from the site a couple days ago and wanted to jig for kings. Pete has jigged for lakers for many years but has caught very few kings while laker fishing. We left the dock at 5:30 and pulled at 10:00. Pete landed four kings and lost a couple. I didn’t catch a king today but did get a bow. Fun morning, great company and exciting fishing. Hard to beat.

We fish the marks. Using 2oz jigs. I do use a light action line counter to drop or raise on marks. In all fairness tomorrow will be my third time doing it.

This whole jigging thing is a blast. The hook sets are unreal. Thanks to you and Manny!!
