My uncle bought one of those motors years back when we went to Canada every year, that motor was the most reliable motor out of all of ours, my 15horse Evinrude was next in line, they were great motors in their time and still great motors!! If it was 9.9 or a 15hp I'd pick that puppy right off your hands. Just a little under power for a kicker on my boat. -
It was a 15 hp Game Fisher, Sears version of Force. Late 80's early 90's

Ok if it's intermitting then it's not the twist control that would be under the handle mine had 2 1/4" screws you loosen up and slide the ramps together this created friction so the throttle stayed in place, the vibration wouldn't let the throttle to return or back off.

Why can't they leave water out, like they do in the summer when it's already low?? Thought that's what the dam was built for?? But what do I know. One other thing, when Lake Erie gets big westward winds the silt covers the eggs of the eyes and all other species, and it smothers the eggs and they croak!! Is this going to be a concern to the species of the Great Lakes Ontario?? It's a double edged sword I know but what about this killing off the gobies and the clams, or is the overall damage greater than what meets the eyes meaning our eyes?? -
It should slide with two fingers back & forth. Is this a tiller handle model?,and the cable is the throttle control at the helm? Is the tiller throttle hard to turn also? Some have like a ramp set up to make it hard to throttle up, I had a few like that it's for trolling with out having to manually hold the handle, some have a set screw to create friction so the throttle doesn't back off, I wish my kicker had this option, notta!! I searched the world over, all it has is a fast idle adj. so a little Cleo is used to slide against the rod and the handle. poor mans trolling adjustmentLOL

The top rail is to thin you mean the material being to thin and maybe the bolts would pull through the thin aluminum?? I always make a backer plate usually bigger than the base of whatever I'm mounting, that way it would have to yank a chunk of the boat off to lose the rigger. If that happens your trolling a bit to fast

Thanks stoneam2006 for the info

Well I also had a deal go down for me. I was looking for a probe, being on disability from a hell of an accident going on 4 years ago, I finally got back on my feet, when out of the blue I get a pm from Finsntins who says he has one that looks like brand new, he sent me the whole unit plus 2 rolls of cable ready to be assembled onto the boat, this unit has ALL the parts and then some for a price that just can't be beat. I fully believe in good karma, it will make a full circle in your life, I'm living proof!!!

Thank you I ordered 2 of those moor line device things that have a loop of line to a screw from the Marine General, I was thinking about a Scott's break off, I was wondering why cant I just add a snubber?? Thanks for reassuring my mind what little I have on the snubber, others have different ways and all sound good. Old saying goes you learn much faster with your wallet than your head. So I'll do what I think is good, hopefully I'm right the first time if not, I'll be $200 lighter but learned by my wallet. I'm thinking I have the older 20's slow up & down, maybe these guys with the much faster riggers that really jerk around??

How true that is A LURE, I thought snowmobiling was losing battle with keeping cash in your pocket, and fee's hiding from the other half, there ain't no comparison, only $10 is now$100, $50 is now $500 so forth and so on, I could be driving a brand new 2017 fully loaded pickup of my choice with what I got sunk in this vessel plus gear!! BUT I can only think of 1 thing that bring as much enjoyment into my life, and that you don't need your clothes on now that we have a set of twins, they consume way more$$$ then my hobby. If you put my daughters on the boat and their reeling in a fish, yelling dad get the net!! It's like walking through the white gates to heaven.
