  1. I found this forum post regarding TR-1 units. The guy says the fluid level should be about half way up the tank, not the fill tube. Scroll down to find that comment. http://www.ifish.net/board/showthread.php?t=128187#/topics/128187?page=1 Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. I don't fish Lake O, I fish Huron and Michigan, but I started out trolling for Kings in a deep, long bay (I could see 3 sides of land). Starting out close to shore built my confidence for deep water fishing and allowed me to figure things out, make mistakes, and learn from experience. I also went fishing with friends who had much larger boats, on larger bodies of water and further offshore - this also helped to gain confidence and learn what works and what doesn't. 3. Awesome. Seems like I'm always afraid of the cost to upgrade my boats, but $100?? That sounds like it's worth it. I once had an 8-Track player in a 1983 Ford Ranger...... Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. Wow crazy. Looks like a pink salmon, but would have more spots on the tail. Def has Coho markings. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  5. I agree with J.D., perhaps they are covering a hole. I don't know of any base that's going to be that shape. All downrigger deck mounts are just flat plates. Unscrew one and see what's underneath. Maybe there is a brand name marking on the back side. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  6. They don't care as much about return on investment. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. I could be totally wrong, but it looks like a passive vent. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  8. I've been meaning to try that one. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  11. 3 inches wide. I can confirm tomorrow night, late. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  12. No the gimbal has 4 screws, not two. Just have them make you a track mount rod holder plate that mounts to the gimbal mount. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  13. . No, the gimbal has 4 screws, not 2. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Depends if you are going to use a riser or not. The traxstech gimbal mount is already pre-drilled to fit a 6" track. For the Cisco gimbal mount, if you don't use risers, you could drill and countersink holes to an aluminum plate to match the Cisco gimbal mount hole pattern and to match the width of the track slot underneath the trolling bar. You will also need some hold down screws. Difficult to explain without proper sizes or pictures, but I am away from my boat currently. The Cisco gimbal mounts do offer some positional flexibility. http://www.bigpapasportfishing.com/traxstech_accessories.htm#Risers Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  15. I wrap the leader and fly around the flasher, then use a rubber band to secure them. They all go in a clear plastic Plano box. I change them up based on favorite color combos and what's working. I get too many tangles any other way. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  16. Oh great, not another one of these threads!!! My wife is going to kill me if I go and buy all the year's best spoons again.....I'm missing the fall salmon season this year, but I will sit back and read the responses and take note! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  17. I use a 9" Kershaw, 9" Browning, and a 7" Rapala. Kershaw is a decent knife for the money. I've never owned an expensive one, but haven't needed to. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  18. Here is my set-up for my 1979 16ft Sea Sprite Deck Boat. I've trolled Lake Michigan and Huron with this boat but mainly use it for inland lakes and bays. A little extreme with the boards plus rod holders but I like having the extra side height to keep my kids and dogs in the boat. The boards are mounted to 6 inch track sections. I also have a 2x12 treated board mounted across the back of the boat, covered in marine carpeting to mount my downriggers to. I cut a notch out at the center for the outboard tilt. Everything you see in the pics, I bought used over time and paid about 50% of new. It just takes patience to find the right deal. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. I had one of these and it went well over 200k miles with no major mechanical problems. Nice truck. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  20. Yeah the fixed ones are useless unless you run rods off the back. I sold several years ago. You are welcome. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  21. They are usually 2 sections of 4 foot each attached in the center with a plate underneath. I own one of these and also a Bert's. I run them down the sides of my secondary boat. But maybe this is a true 8ft. You can always cut it with a chop saw and diablo blade. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  22. There is a trolling bar on EBay right now. Kind of pricy but includes several other items. https://www.ebay.com/itm/112542738502 Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  23. LT fishing is very hard work, yet very rewarding also. When targeting lake trout, I never sit down. Always working the riggers, watching the downrigger arms for just the right amount of touching bottom, hooking fish for others, etc. I usually search for wide flat bottom areas in 95 to 120 feet on Huron and spend my time going across the flat, back and forth between 1.2 and 2 mph (1.6 average) depending on the waves. Gambler rigs work and they work great. The only unknown for me that I need to figure out after I get out there is color and cowbells vs Dodgers. Depends on the day. I've had 100% cowbell days and 100% dodger days. Green has been a hot color this summer as well as white. I use Hammerhead size 5 cowbells and trash can / smoke or green Dodgers. When I was young I made trips with my Dad up in Northern Ontario to target lake trout. That's where I learned about cowbell techniques. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  24. I checked all our local stores and they've never stocked the gold color. I will keep looking. Sometimes product will sit on a shelf for years. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  25. Good point. I was wondering if it had a shifter. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
