  1. Had a buddy drop a brand new Samsung Galaxy phone down the hole this year. Fell out of the front pocket of his jacket, bounced on the ice a few times, and then found its way right down the hole. Good buy $600 phone!
  2. If your looking for T70154, its $1259 at anchor express.
  3. Which autopilot are you looking at getting? I've been shopping around so I know the prices pretty well.
  4. They also just came out with the LC Seagates. Might want to take a look at those for lead and copper. I just rigged 2 full cores on a pair of Seagate 50s. Man its nice reeling leadcore without your arm wanting to fall off
  5. So i just got a set of Daiwa Seagate LW50H reels. I am switching over from a pair of Okuma Convector 45Ds. Just wanted to go with a higher speed reel for full cores. I wanted to reuse the full core that I had on the Okuma reels - especially since its the expensive 832 suffix lead core. I went to reverse it onto one of the new reels and the mono backer was trashed after the lead core. So I'm thinking on maybe switching to braid. Was thinking 30 or 40lb high visibility power pro. I use church walleye boards and havent had to many instances of where the front clip slipped off the braid on other setups. I actually use a small spro swivel between my leadcore and backer so if it does pop, it only goes 10 feet before it hits the swivel. Actually makes it a lot easier to take the board off without loosing tension. Any comments/suggestions?
  6. Actually people are talking about 2 different weights. One is made by a guy here on the forum. The other is made by a company named Torpedo Divers. The shape of the weights had kinda the same concept but the are shipped differently.
  7. I ended up going with the Smiths 3-1 field sharpener. http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/search_catalog_command.cmd?fromProductSearch=true&item1=IK-517054 Has carbide, diamond stone, and ceramic rods. Plus hook sharpening groves on the stone and the ceramic rods. Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions.
  8. It was the one that I was going to buy - now Im just going to go with the new one they came out with to replace the SPX-5r unit. It should be the ev-200/P70R/Sport Pilot - model number is T70159. I talked to Raymarine about the difference and they said the compass is their new technology and the course computer is updated. The wheel drive is the same between the 2 units. If you want to go with the SPX5-R, there are a few places that still have them. All of the cheaper places are sold out though which makes the new unit a lot more tempting. With a bit of searching Im sure you could still snag the SPX5-R for around $1500 if you want to go that route.
  9. After doing some more research - it kinda makes we want to just go ahead and use 40lb big game for coho flies and 50lb for kings.
  10. The problem I'm having is that the line is hard to wrap around the shank and keep it organized - then trying to go back through the loop without everything coming undone. Then the few I did, if you push on the tag end the entire thing comes apart. Maybe Im just using the wrong snell version. Either way, I think the knot would benefit from a bit of glue when done.
  11. So I have a bunch of king flies that I'm cutting down to be coho flies. I was trying to tie up the leaders and beads. I'm going with a single 3/0 Mustad hook and 40lb flurocarbon. Fluocarbon is a bit stiff and I have a hard time snelling hooks with techniques I watched in a few videos. Anyone have any tips on a better/easier way to snell a hook when you are working with fluorocarbon?

  15. I actually run 18lb Suffice Advance. Reeled in multiple 25lb kings on it last year without issue. I was thinking on going with pair of 12 and a 8 color this year. Last year I ran a 10 and a 5 (the 5 was pretty much useless for Lake Michigan). The 12 color will get deeper and the 8 will still be in the normal strikezone. If I need to go deeper, then I'll put dive bombs on the 8 color and make that my inside board. Any thoughts on this setup?
  16. Was thinking about picking up a set of 4 Saltist reels to replace a set of Cold Waters and Convectors for 12 color and 8 color. Getting a set of 4 of the Seagates looks like a better deal and still have the 6:1. Any thoughts on these vs the Saltist level wind? What sizes would I need for 12 and 8 color?
  17. By the way - the tolera I mentioned is a full roller rod.
  18. Fishing on Lake Michigan, I use the Shimano Toleras. Kinda pricy but I love them for fiesty kings and bows. If you are going with the 45D for a reel, you may want to send it into Tuna Tom for drag upgrades. I even upgraded my Daiwa 47LCAs to run wire on them - also had power handles added. With the pull of a dipsy and no stretch, you want to be able to fine tune the drag as much as possible while its in the water.
  19. I just sold off around 100 red eye spoons to guys on the board here recently. I kept a few for myself for fishing on Lake Michigan out of Milwaukee. Here we have more Kings and bows than anything else (once they show up in July). Lakers are a by catch mostly unless its a slow day and then we target them. I had some good luck with so other flutter type spoons on long leadcore last year. I was going to run a few of them stock and paint the rest. Not sure what I'm going to paint them yet for Kings, but going with blue and oranges for Rainbows. I killed the rainbows last year with Moonshine RV/UV blue flounder pounders last year on wire dispsy. I think I must have gone through about 6 of those spoons. I found some similar UV tape, so going to paint up some Red Eyes and throw the UV tape on.
  20. I bought a large lot of flies from a retiring charter captain. I already have more flies than I know what to do with so I kept a few for kings and for some to cut down into medium size coho flies and the rest is up for sale. All flies will be shipped in boxes to prevent damage. Whenever a lot is sold, I will try to update the post as soon as possible. Purchase with confidence - I have an 8000+ positive comment rating on eBay. Prices are: Unrigged flies - each lot is 10 flies - $13.00 per lot shipped to your door in the USA. Rigged flies - one lot of 9 flies - $18.00 shipped to your door in the USA. Unrigged lot #1 Unrigged lot #2 Unrigged lot #3 Unrigged lot #4 Unrigged lot #5 Unrigged lot #6 Unrigged lot #7 Rigged lot #8
