  1. Congrats on the great day on the water. That steelie is gorgeous. I had a good night out with my son last night and we also took four good shots on the dipsy that came unbuttoned quick. Fingers crossed for tonight. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Been slacking on my reports lately. Have a nephew coming up from Michigan to fish with me Saturday so I wanted to go find some fish. Got rod in the water at 4 this afternoon, and I almost called it quits. Big boat is in the shop and the 14 foot aluminum was getting thrown around pretty good. Set up in 150 and had good bait right away. Set the probe down 35 feet to start mapping out temp and while I was setting the second rigger the 35 foot fires. Battled a nice Steelie for a minute then it spit the hook. Got all set up two riggers and two dipsy was all I could run with the waves. Trolled north west and in 170 dipsy out 300 takes a shot which landed a 10 lb laker. We raised both dipsy (one at 175 And one at 220). Thirty min later the 220 dipsy get absolutely crushed. After some great runs we landed a bruiser of a king (no scale but solid over 20). We battled a lot of weeds getting hung up all night (definitely lowered our success). 190 fow took a little Skippy on the high rigger and kept north to 250 fow then we swung back around to run the same water we were. Over the next two hrs we grabbed two mid teen kings. One off the 65 rigger and one of the 80 rigger. One nice brown fell to the dipsy out 300 and that would end the night. Last two hours were dead but the first hrs more than made up for it. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. We shut off from 7 till dark tonight......... Wish I started at 12 instead of four Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. We fished next to all night. Congrats , it was a perfect night with good fish Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. Some gorgeous fish right there Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. And to tell the truth, drive a little further west and launch out of Sandy creek. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Start in 120 and head north. Fished out of Braddock's tonight and it was slow. Personally if you don't mind going way out I would probably try inside first thing in morning and if the rods are not firing I would head out to the shipping lanes for more consistent fishing Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. I just purchased a new x4 last night. Hoping to go used but I'm compulsive when I get my mind set on rigging the boats. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Bassman I'll let you know. In partial to the x4 cause my other boat has same system, so I liked the thought matching allowing me two probes just in case. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Pap I have an I/0. Twice it's conked out on me, first time I brushed the plugs fished her back to the dock, second I swapped plugs out and fished her back. This boat is my plan b when the big girl is getting serviced. Got a little bumpy for me ssatutday, but we were catching fish so we stuck it out. Trolled 5 hrs on 2 gallons of gas. 11. Slow Rollin. Im interested in your x4 if your selling the entire package. Let me know thanx Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Tried to repeat Saturday morning but the fishing was brutal. I couldn't find a silver fish if you paid me. Went 5/5 on Lakers. They hit my flat line with 1 oz sinker and Steelie Dan spoon, the 15 foot rigger, 30 foot rigger, and even the dipsy out 75 with orange spoon. Amazing how things change in 48 hr period. That's what keeps up coming back. Next weekend (if boat tune up goes well) I'll be in the shipping lanes until fishing gets consistent. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. It is NY. I also got told that the other day by coast guard in sandy creek last weekend. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Wrong section but I can't load in classifieds for some reason. Thought it might interest someone. It's my neighbors not mine, but seems like a decent budget friendly easy to get out. He said motor was totally rebuilt by pugsley two years ago and runs like new. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. My goal was to fish shipping lanes. We went out to 550fow and it was still 60 degrees on surface. When I went to head further north looking for 50's n surface temp boat died. Changed the plugs and gotta fired back up but we started a south troll instead in case boat acted up. Temp is still cold. Down 35 feet on average is 50 degrees. Most my relent targeted 25-50 get down. Had kings and Lakers hit the 35 foot rigger. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. My buddy hit one manitou and parkway couple weeks ago Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Covered alot of water before landing a nice a mature and twenty min later on the same rod lost another bruiser. He Made a nice 400 foot run. The second he slowed down I picked up 50 feet and he took another 200 feet. Than all at once I felt the hook come unbuttoned........ Managed changing the spark plugs in 500 fow when boat died then salvaged the trip going 5 for 7. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. June can be a grind, but you can't catch fish from the couch. We covered a lot of ground tonight before landing a mature fish . That's the beauty of the salmon fishing. It's hunting and fishing all wrapped up in one Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Those pics are absolute perfection Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Today I pulled both batteries and charged them all day. Fired boat up and purred like a kitten even when using riggers. It definitely was due to my batteries being low. I have a Perko selector switch but when i looked up the wiring diagram they had both batteries on full time (not isolated). When I wired all my riggers and accessories off the second battery appearantly it didn't matter. Normally I would always charge batteries night before however this season I have not been, because I never had an issue. Im assuming all the trips so far, I'm depleting more than I'm charging and it finally caught up to me. Tomorrow I'm going to try and isolate the batteries properly and then buy a third spare that stays full charge in the boat. Thanx everyone for the replies Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. I have two batteries. 1 is 1 yr old second is 3 yrs old. I normally put them on charger before I head out but skipped it last couple times because I never seem to have an issue. Although it aways sucked the rpms down when I use a down rigger however this time it stalled it Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Boat seemed to run a little rough when I left the dock but not bad........ Under full throttle it ran perfect the whole way out. When o slowed down to check the water temp I could tell it was still running a little rough but again not skipping hard. After thirty min being out there I hit the down rigger to come up and immediately the boat bogged down and stalled. Took me ten min to bring in all the tangled lines, but after the boat fired right back up. Touch a down rigger and she would drop the rpm's immediately. My thought was new plugs new battery? Any suggestions. 89 305 Trophy with omc with electronic ignition. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. I've been lucky enough to fish with Jeremy Sage (I believe friends with Rich) over the last couple years. Every time he runs double dipsy on a side with no issues. After the six hour teaching on what to do, I confidently get on my boat the following weekend and manage to tangle all my dipsy when I try it lol. Definitely takes practice and I think a bigger boat with less wind drift helps alot on windy or rough days. I do appreciate all the responses. I'm a big advocate of asking questions and taking a charter every year with a captain who teaches what to do not just hand you a rod and say reel it in. 24. Muskie hook up with us and come fishing sometime. I fish just about weekend in the afternoon's Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Speaking of tangles, yesterday I sent out my dipsy's. Watching the rods two min later rigger fires, grab rod , next rigger fires. All of sudden dipsy does a little bump and then the light bulb in my head gets real bright. I put the wrong dipsy on the wrong sides lol. They both met in the middle and grabbed all the rigger rods. If any one on my boat would have done that I would of razzed them to death lol. Needless to say I brought in a wad of line lures and swivels and just started cutting........... Tangles suck Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
