  1. I was 65-70 feet down was 50 degrees. Pulled most of my fish out off 50-54 degree water with the occasional 90 rigger firing down in 46-48 degree water. I ran some inline sinker set ups swimming down 20-30 feet and they never got touched. Saw another good report out of Genny today guy did good at 450-500. My buddy hammered some black ones in 80-120 fow this morning.I just don't prefer staging kings. With the insane steelhead size and quantity this yr I won't be in tight. 3. Got in the water at three all rods in by four and fished till dark. Decided to go deep so we set up in 450 fow and headed north.deepest we fished was 600fow. We went 12 for 14 of quality fish all night. Action was consistent from start to finish. Biggest king 22 lb biggest steelhead 14lbs. Best day in along time. Most fish caught on riggers 45-75 down, one meat rig 400 copper, one dipsy flasher fly. Orange and reds best color for us. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. I fish out of sandy creek but the bite was insane tonight. fished in 450-600 fow and had non stop action all night. Riggers from 45-80 feet and dipsy out 200-250 feet. Best colors were orange and reds for us. Only one out of twelve fish hit a flasher fly. All were spoon bites except one on meat rig with 400 copper. Temp out there was usually 70 down 50 degrees. good luck out there. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. I fished out of sandy last night from 2 till dark. We stayed 420-500 fow and had only three fish in 4 hrs. So we trolled in picking one every forever. 250 fow had a great screen but one hit, then started hitting lakers in 130 fow before we wrapped it up. I'm headed out now just debating on 550fow or 80fow. Buddy caught a 27lb on bottom in 80 feet and did good on smaller fish in 550-600 feet this morning. 6. We fished 400-430 fow from 4 till dark tonight. Went 10 for 11 with biggest being 24 lb king. Also got couple mid teen kings, ,10 lb Atlantic, 11 lb steelhead and couple smaller ones. Took fish on meat rig, blue dolphin, glow frog, Lyman plug frog colored, and white blue dot spin doctor and fly. Big one came off 300 copper best rigger was 65 feet down. Also lost a slob when backer broke on the 300 copper. Guess I'll learn how to re spool my copper now. All kings were looking dark. End of season is near Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  10. If your highly qualified amature like me the one thing that separates the pros from the amature is not the lures and speed is the solid knowledge of where the fish are and when. 3-4 hrs seems like a short run to me. We catch a good amount of fish but we do solid 6-8 hrs shifts. Hour or two to get on them 4 hrs to catch them then hour or two to wonder where they went lol. That's the huge benefit from this site. Most of the veterans on here truly enjoy to help the amature's out with really good reports. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  12. I don't have auto pilot hooked up this season and with a full cabin (trophy 2460) it gets pretty boring trolling alone inside. I've seen pole extensions that sail boats use to steer about 4 foot long. Has anyone ever made or know of a pole that could mount to steering wheel and help me turn wheel while outside of the cab? I guessing 7' long without measuring it. Was thinking of welding up something out of aluminum but was hoping to get ideas before I spent Alot of time tinkering. Essentially a pole with a knuckle at the steering wheel and a mini wheel or knob outside? Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. So I bought a Coldwater reel last yr for my son and since day one the drag sucked. Too tight too light and so on. So after loosing a nice fish because I couldn't back off the drag fast enough it has sat in my garage as a total loss. So rained out of work today I called Okuma to see if my reel had the recall issue (which I assumed did). Apparently if you have a capital A or three punch marks after serial number you don't have a defected reel. So I asked the guy politely "so the reel sucks as expected". He was a real nice guy and after a short conversation he explained how there drag works on Coldwater only. when you adjust the drag the reel it doesn't react until three to five revolutions on the handle. So once you send it out if your drag is two heavy back it off three clicks or so on the drag. Turn the handle three to five times then check to see if you like the drag. Hope this helps somebody. I had basically gave up on mine but after playing with out in my garage I definitely feel good about it now. In the middle of a battle its not the best process but better than throwing it away. 16. Thanx mike. We set up in 200 fow. Scattered bait from 200-250. We're in 400 fow now and haven't marked in a bit. We'll be heading back to where we started Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  21. I was always told run bottom rigger at 42 degrees and top rigger at about 52 degrees. Then the other right up the middle I also start with my two dipsy at those high and low temp to start my trolling. Once first fish hits then we start focusing in on most active temp. That's would be my salmon set up. Off shore I run the boat till find low 50 degree water this time of yr and lots of flat lines and high riggers. When all else fails I go in 80-100 fow look for cold 40 degree water sitting on bottom for lakers. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  24. Always leave them in my boat. Great for spring in shallower and used my other day for way offshore for steelhead when the surface temp was 50 degrees. Sometimes I just don't want to fight my planer board and mast. I love them. Picked up couple 44 offshore size for coppers today. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Side note, went to sportsman show this winter in buffalo. I checked out coyote ugly spoons booth and quality was pretty impressive and I really liked the extras spinner blade on the spoons. I've ran them quite a bit and when there on there on. He's got great selection of colors and I even picked up some super mags I'm dying to throw out when the kings are hot and heavy. I bought probably 30 or so and he gave my son 5 bass casting spinners for free to try. Love buying local tackle that's good quality. You won't find any plastic dipsy divers on my boat either. Chinook divers are awesome quality and made 2 min up the street from me. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
