  2. Set lines at 9 this morning right at the mouth headed east. We had a strong east wind with dirty water 41 degrees and just outside was 37-39. We boated six fish 5 browns in 7 fow and 1 coho in the clear around 11 fow. We fished 3.5 hrs with a steady picking the whole time. In the end we were 6 for 12 with a couple of lost fish being good size. After 12:30 waves were kicking pretty good for the 14 footer so we headed in. Orange spoons and black and silver rapala did the best. Nice to watch the riggers fire. Now we're waiting for the drag to scream Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. We launched easily couple days ago. Just had the bow at shore stepped in and pushed out. Had my rubber boots and didn't get wet. I had a 14 foot aluminum and my brother had a 20 foot fiberglass. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. As of couple days ago no docks. But we launched a aluminum (14 foot) and 20 foot fiberglass no problem. Just got to jump in Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. We hammer fish in the canal. I troll with two downriggers and couple flat lines. Easily will land thirty fish in a trip. Mostly cookie cutter bass and small Pike. But I've got 9lb walleye jigging, 6 lb large mouth on top water, and 3.5 smallies regularly trolling. The canal is so consistent you just have to find the irregularity in the bottom and it will hold lots of fish. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. We weren't out there today from 9 till 12. 1 for 5 with one of the losses being a bruiser. I started in front of the pump house and trolled down to Hamlin with one miss . So we packed up and motored back to sandy and started trolling east. Didn't make it to far two more un buttoned then got annoyed missing the ice chunks. So we spun around and as we crossed the mouth we boated our first brown and list the big guy. All in all can't complain. No skunk, boat ran mint, no tangles, and three hrs fishing with my son. Can't wait till the next time. (orange spoon and orange rapala took the hits) Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Is sandy creek launch accessible? Wanted to fish in front of braddocks bay Thursday, but didn't know if I should launch out of genessee river or sandy creek. Thanx Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  11. I went to genessee boat launch off of lake ave two days ago. Open water up the port of Rochester building. I would think all this melt is going to get the river raging, which should help alot. I'll be at the lunch Saturday to take another peak. Over 50 degrees tomorrow and rain on Saturday. I'm hopeful for next weekend to squeeze out. Sandy creek was froze to the mouth also two days ago but I would think that would clear out fast also. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  14. Been meaning to follow up. The mechanic I normally use and feel comfortable with unfortunately doesn't work on my new Yamaha. So I blindly googled mechanics and ended up at McMillan marine on irondiquoit bay. Once they hot ahold of it they found one carb plugged shut and other two were filthy. Then they found original owner had advanced the idle to compensate and it was idling at 1900 rpm. So they pulled the carbs, soaked, and cleaned. Then re balanced and set the idle at 875 rpm. It blew my mind when I got it back.I average maybe 1.5 gallons of gas while fishing six hr at a time, pin quiet, and smooth as silk. Seemed kinda pricey but work was spot on , they squeezed me in and were extremely friendly to work with. He basically told me always have K100 in fuel . I've always owned 2 strokes and would never go back. I can actually talk to my buddy at full throttle. However the two stroke was good at drowning out my wife tell me she wanted to get of the water. There is always a trade off. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. I have a lowrance hds7 touch Gen 2 on my 24' trophy I troll in the lake with and love it. However I'm setting up my small boat to run the rivers this winter, and I put a raymarine dragonfly with chirp technology and my pictures are insanely clear. The down scan feature is second to none to clarify exactly what is down there. I bought the 5.7 inch and its prefect for the small boat. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. My crestliner had to small gunale. I used product called eagle feet, then bolted 3/8 aluminum to top. Work mint and no holes in the boat at all. Once I connected everything I welded it complete. Twist eight set screws and whole thing choked right off .Used all traxtech to match my 24' trophy. So now the big girl is in getting winterized and I simply slide in the equipment I want depending on what I'm going for in the little girl. 17. Well I drained of the fuel put fresh gas in and idled in my driveway for good half hr. Definitely ran better but not perfect. I took it on water today to heart it under load. Started a little finicky but not bad. At idle she was bouncy and when I would give a little throttle it would stutter then jerk as she took the extra fuel. At full throttle it ran pretty smooth. It would also after full throttle stay at a "little high idle" when I backed it all the way off. So at this point I'm expecting mechanic to clean carbs, oil changer, plugs, tube up? Any good suggestions for a mechanic for a 2004 30HP Yamaha for stroke. That hopefully isn't a month out. Thanx Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. IM purchasing a used boat this weekend and went to leave deposit and fire it up. He's only had boat out one time this yr (which is why he's selling). So when starting it, it took quite a few times turning over to get the first"pop". After it stalled then popped then stalled it finally took good and at high idle hung right in there. But lowering the neutral idle lever the boat didn't want to be down at low idle. So kept having to idle it up. What should I be looking for or doing. First four stroke I've dealt with. Sounded perfect at high idle just not low. Bulb stayed firm. New plugs this year Thanx for advice. maybe just needs a good running and fresh fuel? 19. Sunday morning will be bumpy 2-4 footers however if you can get through the morning they're subsiding all day and will be 1-3 going to 2 foot less. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. This is the same as DOT regulations for contractors pulling trailers. Starts out as everyone who trailers needs dot # but its free to sign up. Once they see the amount of sign UPS and get everyone name and address they start the "fee". Now everyone who drives my truck has to take safety course on line. Now I have to submit drug tests (which I can mail in results). When they offer on line courses and mail in drug and alcohol screens they don't care about results they want there money. So now the guy with the 12' enclosed trailer has to stop at dot truck inspections and pray to God he is up to date on the thousand of dot regulations that change every five min. The big companies adapt and the little ones just give up. I'm all for safety but if you truly were concerned you would watch me pee in cup to make sure I'm clean not simply let me mail in the results with a check. We need more awareness and not money generating regulations. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  22. I fished out of a pontoon last three yrs until my new set up, and just a good fish finder (GPS for speed) and once I got hang of it i always hammered fish. I like my dipseys parallel to water this will help huge with guessing speed depending on how hard the rod is bending or not. Fishing under 120 fow kings will be on bottom so dipseys I would have one at 175 feet out and another 250 feet out till one gets hit then adjust. Rule of thumb is 1/3 depth. So dipsy out 150 feet fishes 50 foot down. I also had 2 clamp on manual cannon rigger that worked great. I live in spencerport and if you wanted to try the downriggers your more than welcome to borrow two. I won't be using them for another three weeks or so. . I also always ran trolling sinkers set ups. Ide have anything from 1 oz to 6 oz pulling spoons. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. I used to user big game 15 lb in spring and 25 lb mid summer on. I switched to McCoy mean green 20 lb on my high riggers and split shot rigs and 25 lb on deep riggers and really like it. I'm not a big fan of fluorocarbon. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  25. I have had two cannon clamp downriggers on my pontoon boat for couple yrs and there great. It is a two handed deploy but easy to get use to. I used six lb balls and 70 feet would be max (not that I didn't go 90 ish) cause the blow back is bad. But they did put the lure in the strike zone as advertised.
