  1. I crossed your bow this morning in 60fow. We hammered on lakers out there on wire SD and flies. We fished inside first and got into the kings. One major solid 20lb and handful from 6-10. A couple cute browns in the mix and had a great day on the water. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app

BuT I Went withTraxtech And She's Tracked all The Way Around Planer Mast Installed And Trolls Smooth. You'll Have To Get Out With Me And Matt One day. Hard Top Is Amazing . Feel Alittle Spoiled Out There. Just Need My Auto Pilot Worked On. Anyone Out There Can Refer Someone Ide Appreciate it
  4. Tomorrow was planning on putting in a good morning so I took the kids out tonight to see what all the rain has done to the lake. When we left the channel we headed east and got right on mud line and set up spread. 2 spoons on riggers, 4 cranks on planer board, and two flat lines. Mud line is an understatement. We worked in and out, sea gulls feeding all around us but no hits. Water on mud line was cold 42-44 degrees. Tried for hr then pulled in lines. We motored over to the pump house and re set up. Good water color and temp was 46-49. Within minuets flat line takes a shot with a fire tiger rapala. Daughter fought to keep up with the fish but he headed right at the boat and shook the hook. Felt descent definitely silver. Couple minutes later same rod and oldest son lands a six pound brown. Kept working 15-20 fow and rigger took a shot with a green and orange spoon and youngest son lands a 7 lb laker. As we approached the nose we decided to head in and while I was pulling in the last line I feel a little head shake so handed the rod to my daughter. She lands a 4 lb brown. So three kids three fish landed and lost two. Marked quite a bit but definitely seemed slow. hopeing for good day tomorrow we shall see. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. I always fished the gorge under driving park for yrs. Best fishery in the world. Black was always good. 3" black power grub jigging and black rooster tails never failed me. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. Agree with mark. My best investment. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. BP Swing. West marine Carries blue Sea fuse panel. I bought 100 amp 6 fuse box and there slick. Ran from battery to the fuse box then make all your connections there. My cannon called for 30 amp fuses. So I had 2 riggers , x4, lowrance, and radar and have one open slot. Best and easiest way to protect your equipment. Roughly $50 for panel box. Can find them on line around $35 if your not in a hurry. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. I agree with jigstick. I got new boat last weekend and had to wire 2 new mag tens, X4, fish finder, and radar. I used the blue sea fuse box and its mint. Nice and organized and clean looking. Any issues on the water and look for the blown fuse. the six place fuse block had a maximum of 100 amp. So if you ever planned on third ot fourth rigger you would go to the next size up. I wish I would of in hind site because I plan on power masts. West Marine Carries them . Cheaper on line but if your impatient like me there in stock Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Want To Start Fishing More LineS So I Was Going To Pick Up Two Copper Set Ups. If You Only Had Two What WouldYou Buy. 32 45 60 Lb, 100-500 Foot. Or Lead core? Basically Hoping To Up My Chances For Those Tough Summer Days. OPInions Appreciated.
  10. I like Pauls suggestion. I put Alot of fish in my boat and 95% is from advice from taking charters and other fisherman on this site. I have a 16' pontoon boat no down speed or temp and no down riggers. So when I took my charter the captain showed me everything to do fort my situation. Proper dipsy set ups, flat lining with trolling sinkers, color choices, etc. my hook up rate tripled. Also when you use dipsy and know how to read your pole you will gauge your speed really quick. He literally for Sake of teaching me turned his fish hawk off and showed me how to read my dipsy rods to judge the speed. I also fish with on a boat with all the gear and it definitely is a huge advantage but I believe I'm better for learning with out first. You'll know you pick the right charter when there excited to teach you not just hand you a rod. I can recommend some good guys I've used but there is Alot on this site that help all of us out that I would hire. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. I pick up boat trophy 2460 this weekend and was thinking of how to set it up. I was going to run 8' trolling bar across back (traxtech) and three down riggers across, and then tail gunner rod holder up the chute. Two out and down and one straight out the back off centered to one side. Will that fit it is a I/O . I was worried about middle rigger near prop. (mag 10 with long arms). Then two dipsy per side and eventually tree rod and planer set up in the front. Is it a big advantage to running a trolling bar or is it a waste of $550. Thoughts appreciated. 12. Pete the sonar was blank the entire time we fish. We use a lowrance hds and always pick up bottom fish on screen. It was my buddy boat so I didn't wasn't to play with knobs. I was thinking I was on wrong settings (83 vs 200) or cold water messing with it. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Pete Great catch......... We've been killing lakers and best depth was 65' on the bottom. We caught most on dipsy out 120-150 spin doctor and fly. I usually find bland colors works best (white, light blue, etc.) And we do best between sandy and braddocks . congrats on the fishing. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Mike My Dad Was Working. I Get My New Boat In A Week So Within Three Weeks I Should Be Ready To Give Her A Shot. maybe If I Can Get Him To Retire Properly You Can Join Us To Test The Boat Out. I Got Him Out A Couple Times Last Yr And He Had A Good Time. But He Chases The Bucks Pretty Hard So I Have To Peel Him Out Of The Woods. Hope To See You Out There
  15. Allaboitfishing13 They'll Definitely Be Here.I've Gone Out Twice This Week And Boated 28 Lakers. The Size I'm Seeing This Yr IS Alot Bigger. We've Had 7 Around 15Lbs And One Tickle 20Lbs. We Caught Them On Demand Last Yr But Average Weight Alot smaller It's Great When You Bring The Kids For Non Stop Action. I'm Just Itching For Salmon To Show Up. Until Then we Practice On The Lakers.
  16. Went out this morning browsing in 60-80 fow. We landed 15 lakers none smaller than 10 lbs. Nice cold water made every fish successful catch and release. Then tried inside after Alot of you guys gave me Some advice on fishing for browns. Trolled 6-15 fow for an hr and landed a brown about 5lbs and a skippy coho. I do appreciate the advice, my spread looked alittle weak but once the planner Mast set up gets installed we'll keep plugging away at them. 17. Appreciate the advice. Tomorrow I'll be lightning up the line on the reels and give it a shot. Basically I've been using my 20 lb line on my downrigger rods. Flat lining off the back. We'll get some in line boards, better selection of rapalas, 10lb test, and give it a valiant effort. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Question? Any one ever try 300' plus early in the yr (now) for steelhead and young kings? My brown trout skills are lacking and lakers get old after a bit. So I guess the question is, is it waste of time starting at 300' fow and doing a north troll towards 500' fow to look for steelhead this time of yr. 19. We went out Monday morning to give the boat a test run and get ready for season. We played inside a little but really don't have a good setup for fish that shallow. So we started in 80 fow . After hr we caught one lake trout and slowly headed in. Buy 65 feet we couldn't keep them off the line. 12 for 14 on lake trout. Good test run. And the crew needed it. Netting fish was a lost art lol. Thank God the fish were patient and gave us a couple shots to net them. But great day. Get new boat in 2 weeks so I'm going to be asking for advice on setting it up (trophy 2460). Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Congrats on the great season and really appreciate all the posts this yr. Have fun working on the boat and we'll see u in the spring.
  21. Glad to help with a starting point. Congrats on the fishing. I fish a lot with my 10 yr old and these steel head and smaller kings are the awesome for them. And personally my favorite fish are the bigger steelhead. The show they put on is second to none. I'll be back out Thursday searching for some more action. Thanx for the report and I'll post when i get in.
  22. Took the little pontoon boat out tonight looking for some steelhead. Stopped in 175fow to take a peak and saw some bait down 80 right away so we set up. My normal set up is 3 dipsy and one mini troll . However tonight it was just rough enough for my little boat so we got 1 dipsy out and the mini troll. By 200fow rigger took a shot with a fish on. My son got him up to the where he did what steelies do best . Air born and gone. Gotta love it ( solid 10lbs). 220 fow and while sending out the dipsy it got smacked. Boated a 6lb steely. Stay on a north west troll and we got to 240fow screen was lit. 60 rigger fires and I had a monster steely on. Fought him towards the boat this fish spent more time in The air than in the water. And lime the first spit the hook At the boat lime the first ( easily mid teens). Ended up baoting 4 from 6-10 lbs. Lost three bruisers to acrobatics and handful of hits no ones home. All in all good day considering one two poles out. Carbon 14 took everything and all hits were 55-65 down. Marked a lot of suspended fish from 90 to 150 all over but never got a hit down that low.
  23. Yes. All spoons action. Hits were on glow frog, magnum chilly willy, and carbon 14. We ran SD and fly on dipsy but no hits. Our fish hawk broke so I do think we would have done a lot better knowing our speed. 3 on the GPS and watching our dipsy rods is how we judged speed. We had quite a few fish in and out of our gear that needed something a little different. (Speed I assume). But in all beautiful sunset calm waters and got to watch the rods fire a couple more times before the boat gets put away for the season.
  24. Decided to search for steelhead and teen kings offshore. Motored out to 350fow and immediately had a good screen so we set up. 4 riggers from 35-70 feet down and 2 dipsy out 220. Ten minutes in took a shot on high rigger, swing and a miss. Followed up with 50 foot rigger and boated a small steelhead (3lbs). Stayed from 350 - 420 fow and two more releases decent screen bit no fish. We decided to troll south screen hit or miss to 220 and got good again but no takers. Dropped a rigger to 110 with a carbon 14 and immediately fired. 15 lb laker. Send him back to lake and went to sent it back down. As it was going down I see a steelhead jumping and I'm watching to see what rod its on. It was the 75 foot rigger. Then All of sudden in mid descent my rigger fires at about 65 feet down. Doubled on steelhead 7 lb and 5 lb. That's a wrap for the night. Gorgeous night out tonight and caught some fish. Well be back at it Friday afternoon looking for some more. Any offshore bite info would be greatly appreciated.
  25. I went out Friday night out of sandy. I had good screen in 400's ..... should of stayed out there. When we came in ghe dock was full of fisherman and they were catching lots of spawning kings. I'm going to stay deep and try to find steelhead and young kings. I'm new to salmon fishing but had a great yr and learned a lot through friends and this site. So now its time to learn the late season tactics for chasing steelhead and kings out deep. Ide rather chase those than spawning mature kings. Nothing better than quality steelhead putting in a show.
