  1. Thx guys Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. Thanks Jonny. Seems like Olcott area is doing well. But I won't take that trip, so it is what it is.
  3. Last we were out was June 15. Only caught 1 king (10lbs) and an 8lb steelie. Both were pretty much straight out of the channel in 120-160 fow where we found some bait pods. Appreciate any recent report as I plan to take the kidos on Sat. Seems pretty hit or miss right now. Thx
  4. Congrats. great buck and story
  5. We ran them this year sometimes. They will spread out about 10' or more if running deep. they also run shallower than the counter shows due to blow back. Biggest problem is that they put a lot of strain on the riggers. I was constantly popping the circuit breaker on my big jons when pulling them up. They do work to spread the lines though. Easy to put on and off. Just clip them in between the terminal connecter and cannonball. Be sure to use heavier snap rings than supplied if you are running balls greater than 10lbs.
  6. I will jump on that bandwagon. I also hunt in the antlerless only until Oct. 16 WMUs and will not sit my better stands until then. I did take a doe yesterday afternoon in a peripheral stand. Doing my part to keep the pop in check. lol
  7. Thanks bandrus. Makes sense. I always knew that passing port to port was correct, but that's helpful. I try to be courteous and have not had any issues yet.
  8. Someone please explain the meaning of "stand on vessel". I have never had an issue but tend to avoid the tight packs. How do you determine which vessel is the stand on vessel?
  9. For a compound, I shoot an 80lb obsession phoenix with 540g arrows and rage hypos. The results have been outstanding. I also tend to think that the problems reported with rage were due to set ups not well designed for mechanicals (low poundage or failure to improperly install the head). I could be wrong, but I won't be moving from rage anytime soon. Last year, my buddy was laughing at my first blood trail of the season (all of thirty yards) as we were finding chunks of lung, large chunks. That said, I have also hunted with slick trick standards and they did the job just fine too - not as dramatic though. With the recurve, I use 630g arrows and a Strickland helix single bevel two blade.
  10. Traxtech is great. Turned our 22ft searay into a solid fishing boat. We run 4 riggers off it and have a few more holders on it. Very solid. Plus, if you want to remove it, the whole system can be taken off. We never do, but the option is there. At least for our searay, there really was no other option. Ours is mounted to the permanent swim platform. Again, rock solid.
  11. We were out there in the afternoon of 9/18 with only 1 release and nothing home. I did see three boats take fish and it was hectic with the boats there all trying to cross the mouth of the river. Hanging it up for the year. It was fun.
  12. Good deal, we have two on our boat and they have helped immensely to control speeds
  13. Yep - have seen some bucks sparing on cam already
  14. Agree with MD, I wouldn't run boards as hectic as it was yesterday. Ran 3 riggers, 2 dipsys and a top line down the chute (didn't think of lead core but that may work better to get down to 15 or 20 ft) - tried running a dipsy with J Plug but no takers. It was funny to watch the action on the rod though.
  15. I think hits at this time of the year are based out of aggression, not feeding, but typically I like to be out by first light and would still do so now even if I have to piss off the fish to get them to hit. That said, I fished from 3:45pm until 6:30 yesterday afternoon because that was when I had time.
  16. Yep, right in front of the channel. Marked fish both to the west and east, but stayed very close doing figure 8s. Lots of traffic last night - mostly sail boats - but early should be better.
  17. Marks were all over. The one we caught was on a 28 rigger over 35. Lost one on a sd/fly dipsy at 66ft on 3 setting.
  18. Quite a few kings around 35fow. Only got one to the boat in a couple hours this afternoon -27lb king - but they are there. Green ladder back J plug. Good luck to those still fishin.
  19. Can't help, but north winds this last weekend will push warm water inshore. Congrats on the king
  20. Thanks Sk8man. That what I was worried about with insight since they don't demonstrate the maps in my area.
  21. Thanks Wally. I have that on my phone. I assume that's as good as it will get even if I update and buy the card? Probably still worth it to have it on my FF rather than using the phone. I looked at lake insight as suggested but they don't provide a real example of the detail for the Ibay area (or any part of lake Ontario) so its hard to tell if its any better than Nav +.
