  1. Anybody had luck off the piers? went out for an hour after dinner the other night but it was warm and windy. I'll be out this weekend with this cold weather headed in. interested to see what colors guys are using and what has the best luck this year, spoon or eggs. Very excited to see how this year pans out after the slow summer out on the lake. Good luck to everyone
  2. Hello everyone, So last week on july 22nd, i got a call that my mom was rushed to the hospital for having a headache and nausea. a few hours after being in the hospital the doctors discovered she had a brain tumor. Shortly after the surgery we found out it was directly related to her having stage 4 breast cancer. This has been quite the shock for my family and friends. I was registered to fish the Sandy Creek Shootout along with big fish friday and finish up the LOC. My mom insisted i still fish the SCS on saturday because she knew how much fishing means to me. I've seen how much the community of Outdoorsman can pull together and help each other out and thought the LOU might be a good place to start. I wanted to know if anyone would be interested in having a small one day Tournyto benefit her. After getting this news i want to try and devote as much of my time and efforts to not only helping my mother but helping out breast cancer awareness. Right now i'm looking for ideas on having a derby and any help would be appreciated. -Dates -Location -Sponsors -payouts -prizes -entry fee ($100 per boat?) ETC..... As of right now a portion of the derbys entry fee would go to helping my mother with the medical bills for her treatments. And the other portion would be a pay out to the top box for the day. I was thinking October for the derby but one of my good friends did remind me of deer season, So maybe the end of September? Live Action and Rigged have both already signed up for this derby, Nick and Richie are good friends of mine and want to help out. Any input or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, -Tim and Donna.
  3. Does anyone think a salmon over 25lbs is going to get put on the LOC board this summer? All year all i have heard was how it's been a struggle to put a 20lb in the boat.
  4. Thanks for the reports. We normally hammer the pike...just all small ones. Barely ever reaching 32/34". Eel bay we have put 50 pike on a boat in 4 hours with 2 guys. but they are all about 3 lbs. Any points or good spots to target the bass? I seem to catch perch and pike, but smallies have been far and few between. Thanks again, Good luck to everyone this weekend!
  5. Going up to wellsley this weekend for the 4th and some fishing.....anybody have tips on pulling in BIG pike...or muskie. I never seem to catch a pike bigger than 7 or 8lbs. I fish large baits, mepps muskie killers. swim baits, rattle traps. Large live minnows. I really want to top the scale with a 10lb or bigger. and would love to get a chance at a nice muskie, Any tips on july fishing for big fish up there? Also want to try for some walleyes and smallies. Thanks, and have a great 4th!
  6. Going to wellsley island this weekend for the 4th and some fishing, Anybody got tips on catching LARGE northerns, i try every year but never pull in anything bigger than 7 or 8lbs. Also wanted to try for some walleye and smallies. Always have a great time up. Have a great 4th Everyone!
  7. GO to PA, they have a herd that is over 1,000 animals strong. it's amazing. i drive down to benzett every year and experience GIANT bulls standing 4 ft from your Truck, Plus you can always have a chance at spotting a BigFoot.
  8. Last year in the fall derby LOC a rod fired. It didn't really fight so we just figured it was a small laker shaking his head. I horsed the fish into the boat, as it came to the surface we realized it was a BIG brown! the look on my buddies face when he realized we had a big fish that could put us on the board. Like chickens with our heads cut off we managed to land it and get Big fish of the day on the lake O. Alot of good memories trying to net fish.
  9. Justtracytrolling......i'm fishing with pike freak at the july tourny on otisco. i'll bring my bow up. i'm set up to shoot. I love shooting those big ones!!! i'll give them away to people who eat them, or just fertilizer. i like the idea of using it for food plots for deer. sounds like a plan! thanks for the input guys
  10. This year is why i ask...if previous yrs 30# is the number to shoot for...but i didn't think 23 would touch the board, thats why we didn't weigh it in.
  11. Hooked up, We caught 2 nice kings this weekend. And one was just under 24lbs. And we checked the Leaderboard but figured it wasn't worth the drive to weigh it in. I'm looking for 30+lbs next weekend!
  12. Does anyone think a 23lb king would have held up in the derby this summer?
  13. Anybody having luck shooting carp this year? i went out a week ago and only saw a few sitting under bridges...no shore splashing yet.
  14. Cut the fish in half down the middle..everyone is happy.
  15. I keep telling PikeFreak...once he hooks into a 25# king....he will forget what a sheepshead is.
  16. Rattle traps......i fish eel bay and usually put more fish on the boat with a rattle trap....reel fast so you don't get weeds. they hammer it!!!!
  17. I've caught them in the lake and they were growing something off the side of them.....awesome fish to catch. But i would never eat one out of the lake or bay. catch and release...eat walleye. ha
  18. I've asked the same thing....everyone says it's a waste of time and money
