Looking to do more upgrades to my boat this year. I think my biggest flaw on my boat has been my riggers. I only run 3. I currently have Cannon 10a on the sides and a Cannon 10 down the center. I want High Speed riggers but have heard mixed reviews on the new cannons, unless I go to Digi Trolls. My main goal is to have faster riggers that can go deeper. Only want to replace the 2 10a. Team Always Something put together a 1st place win in the most recent leg of the Bald Eagle tournament series. Our box total 65.27 with 3 king's over 20 and we had another 20lb king in the cooler! It was a slow pick. We started fishing at 5am right in front of Devil's nose 60fow and fished for 2 hours between 60-100 fow east of the nose. Finally we realized that the West troll was our best bet when we had only picked up 2 fish in the first two hours. Only fish on the West troll....so we bounced between 100-180 fow ...all the way to the oak. Dipsy rods on fire and coppers. Rigger rods seemed to be slow but did pull in 2 fish over 20lbs. Most of the fish seemed to come 40-60ft down. Minion Meat rigs took most of our fish, and the only spoon that fired that day was a Hawk Spoon. This is my first tournament with my brand new Helix 7 and it was awesome to watch the screen all day!!! We started the day with a broken dipsy, a busted rigger rod, and whacky rigger and a paddle and meat rig breaking off due to a bad knot .....never even got the copper in the water and tink broken. Also one of our kings destroyed a brand new fly rig. But still landed him! Last year my buddy helped me name the boat cause it's Always Something and man was he right!!!! Today was the 3rd Bald Eagle tournament of the year. We finished 8th and got a Laker for the LOC board. Currently sitting in 11th place. My home port is Bald Eagle so it makes this a fun and easy one! Today we started in 100fow...just west of the nose. And worked 80-300fow throughout the day. First this is morning, spoons kept firing but all small fish...put 4 fish 2-4lbs on the boat in about 10 mins. Once rods got set we managed to start picking away at fish between 11-15lbs. Had a box by 645......13,14,15lb kings. All inside 120fow. Mostly an East troll for me today, or North East. Our Laker came on a Minion Meat rigs on a diver.....and both our upgraded king's came on meat as well. Bigger paddles and meat seemed to do the trick today. Fishing was great....ended with 7 kings in the box...11-20lbs....and one 16lb 11oz Laker for the LOC. overall it was a great day of fishing and it's a great tournament for a fun day of fishing! Yeah, they are older riggers. And I made the choice to buy more rods and a fish hawk....and upgrade the riggers later. I don't fish my riggers deeper than 100....which can hurt me at times. But it works. It's an X4D...so it does depth. My fish finder will read the ball down to about 80ft....if the probe says 60...it's pretty close to 60 on the screen. I trust the probe more than I trust the fish finder... together it's pretty close....that's how I figured out my rigger was off....then I tried fishing bottom in 60-80fow...and it's definitely off. So right now....if I set my rigger at 60....on the fish finder the ball.shows up at 70-75....if I put the probe on that rigger my down speed/depth will show at 70-75 depending on speed and blowback. I always make sure it's set at zero before I put it down. It's a pain but I've gotten used to resetting them. My plan is to buy new riggers by next season. But wanted a temporary fix for this year. That's good news! I thought something was broken. Honestly have no idea how much is on there. Since I bought the boat and riggers together...the 2 10a are original to the boat...the 10(short boom) I just bought.(used)....any ideas on where i go to find out how much line should be on them? I run 3 cannon riggers on my boat, 2 are older mag 10a and one is just a mag 10...the 10 works great and seems to be very accurate. The 10a....are off by about 10-15 feet....if I put out 65feet....the ball is closer to 80feet down. I know this cuz I have a x4D and can see where my lure is. I have been debating on swapping out the wire and going to braid...for blow back. But I was wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks on how to get the counter to be more accurate....thanks Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
