  1. I would agree on trailering. You can launch at Stony Creek or Henderson. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. The Trench is roughly between Stony Island and the Mainland. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. I'm not sure that the fly would move correctly to entice a hit with out the flasher making it pulse, but I could be wrong. Have you tried a 6' lead from dipsy to flasher, the 22-24" to fly? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. Thanks Les. I actually had to explain and demo for my brother 2 days ago cause he just plopped everything over the side and it immediately tangled in the rigger! 🤣 Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  5. I reel the diver with in a foot of the rod tip and hold the leader line or flasher (or terminal tackle) with one hand a tip the rod out to the side with the other. Then I gently toss the terminal tackle a few feet off the side and watch that is straightens out and is running right. Lastly I put it in the rod holder and back off the drag so the dipsy creeps out to my desired length. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  6. Got my parents to watch the kids this morning and ran out with my lady before a little brunch at Tin Pan. Ran out to between the mountain and finger, it was a bit choppy and my lady got a little nauseous, so I pulled lines and ran into the Trench for flatter water. Found 46 degrees down 120, passed 7 pods like in the pics, never moved a rod. Hit 115 fow, pulled lines, and hit Tin Pan. Sorry for the glare. - GBL Puffer II: 1802 Trophy Green Boat: 1966 Starcraft Mariner-V 14
  7. Haha! Well good to meet you out there! We had a king in the box and lost one before that. A laker took a FF on a mag dipsy right before you came up, we had just pulled lines when we passed. Did you find anything closer in the Trench? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  8. Did you pass a Trophy with Puffer II on the side as you trolled into the waves? About 9:30? We were going with the waves, cleaning rods and then we left. - GBL Puffer II: 1802 Trophy Green Boat: 1966 Starcraft Mariner-V 14
  9. Henderson launch today: - GBL Puffer II: 1802 Trophy Green Boat: 1966 Starcraft Mariner-V 14
  10. I am running the copper down the chute, but that wasn't the tangle... I was trying to add a slide diver and deployed to fast and it snagged the rigger. Put it in the cabin to try another day. Haha. And I should've known better cause I let my dipsys creep out slow by backing off the drag. I a dumb ass sometimes, but all put are learning!!! - GBL Puffer II: 1802 Trophy Green Boat: 1966 Starcraft Mariner-V 14
  11. I launched out of Stony Creek, haven't been by Henderson's launch, but the water is down the pier at Stony where my bumpers actually work! It should be a bit better now. If I end up getting over that way, I'll check. Unless someone else chimes in. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  12. Short trip this morning, trolled between the finger and the mountain for about 2.5 hrs, found 46 degrees down 120. Had a good salmon on copper and another struck a dipsy, first double but both came unglued. Picked up a nice mature on the other dipsy. Copper went again, pulled in 450 to find a massive laker took the spoon. Finished with another laker on a dipsy. Riggers never fired. - GBL Puffer II: 1802 Trophy Green Boat: 1966 Starcraft Mariner-V 14
  13. Stay positive, and keep the faith. It's a beautiful thing, no matter the struggle. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  14. Was out this morning. Tough day. Off the Finger, found good temps down 120 @ 43-44 degrees. Had a tangle, as we were cleaning it, one hit the 450 and came unglued... part of the tangled mess. Picked up a mid-size king on dipsy with FF. 1 for 2. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  15. Haha! It's ok! Happy you're getting them to cooperate!!! Have fun! And I'm still well within in the learning curve... just a little further along, that's all. And still trying to figure it out! [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  16. Is that first one a steelhead? Snout looks that way, maybe it's the angle. Check mouth, white for steelie, black for king. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  17. Yes!!! Got one! Nice job! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  18. I'm just outside of Sackets and normally launch at the Stony Creek launch when headed to those fishing areas, it's the shortest route by boat to get out there, especially if it's choppy. When it's flat, running from Westcotts or Henderson is a wash. You can also make a 15 mile steam to deep water in front of Mexico if you want (about the same distance to the lanes). I'm headed up Saturday, may shoot to get out Sunday, if not, during the week. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  19. Hit the Dinosaur Barbecue while in Syracuse. They have dynamite BBQ... if the wait is real long for a table, go to the take-out side and order. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  20. Nice job Devin!! What did they hit on? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  21. Yep, just a clean spoon. The one that took the lakers was 10ish feet off the ball. Took the king on the one on the bottom... Moonshine lure, Carbon 14. The 2 on the bottom are Magnum size, the other is a regular Michigan Stinger, both sizes will work, choose whatever colors you like (these are 3 of my personal favs), I tend to run mag spoons, but will change it up. Hope this helps! - GBL Puffer II: 1802 Trophy Green Boat: 1966 Starcraft Mariner-V 14
  22. I run 13 lbs torpedoes and was actually surprised there wasn't more blowback, but we were going with the waves and doing 1.8-2.1 on the surface and 2.4-2.8 at the probe. Probably why there was not so much blowback. And as I get used to my hawk, I'll do some tests for calibration. Will definitely check just below the surface for temp with the probe. Not sure if I'm ready to let my probe to the bottom yet! Lol! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  23. 105 (give or take) was the depth reading on the fishhawk for the probe. Maybe it needs to be calibrated? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  24. We were reading 42 on my rigger out 115 on the cable. With blow back it was around 105 give or take. Had gear from there and up to 80. Fishhawk x4d is new to my boat, first use yesterday. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
