That is a great looking setup. Is that a 4500# r and g? Is your rig a 19 or 21? I ask because I am on the east side, with a 19 ft. fishmaster in a 4500 r and g. Last winter I took a chance and left hoist in water, and almost regretted it. This fall will be bringing it on shore and adding tires to it.
Congrats to all who fished on a hot, tough, stormy weekend. Just finished the FLT~s article on the derby, did not see where it listed number of entrants. Can anybody help with the number?
Les, are you ever going to fess up and say how much that motor really cost you? I know in order for you to get the "ok" to buy that motor, you had to make a trip to the jewelry store to smooze the wife.
It certainly wouldsave "messing around", but think of what could happen. You don't mess with Seneca Lake. You would probably be awake all night worrying about your boat. Not worth the risk. Bite the bullet and launch in morning. Safe is better.
Lakebound 88, thanks for the tips. Back in the 50`s and 60`s I cut my teeth around Willard with my Dad. Back in that area again and thought I remembered some of the good old spots. Guess Father Time is messing with me. Not panicking yet, I know things are going to improve. Wonder if anyone has been working the Dresden area, thinking of trying that next.
Good for you, at least you are having some action. Third time outforme that I`ve had a zero. Stayed in 30-20ft tonight, topline and one down about 15 ft. Trolled from St. Pete`s up to Willard. Hope I`m using up all the bad karma now...
I tend to lean the way Ray does. I`ve been trying these (to me) newfangled techniques; lead core, wire w/dipseys, downriggers, and it`s a real PITA for me. I find I have lures out of the water more than in clearing lines, reeling in 5000 feet of leadcore, etc. Besides catching something, man it`s nice to just sit back, have a cup of coffee and enjoy the day. Put two rods out, sit back, play cards or read, and wait for the big one. Now that`s fishing in my book.
A bit off topic, but I`ve been seeing quite a few jakes and a few older birds. Last night I had them gobbling from 3 directions, Going to hunt them with my long bow this year.
I`m gonna go out on a limb and guess you really fear your wife`s wrath. I love my wife, but I might have just drilled a couple holes to let the water out. y ou also could have just bought her a new car....
