  1. I had a trolling plate on my main and HATED it. Then I tried bags and now I have a kicker and still run small bags every day. Bags stabilize the boat. I could see bags not being as effective if there was a lot of current but I have never had the issue. For now until your kicker is back buckets work very well.
  2. I love my trees from mad docks. My only "complaint" was that they rattled a tiny bit in the bases but 2 wraps of electrical tape cured it. They are hard to beat for 210$ shipped.
  3. I live around saratoga and fish champlain a lot as well as a few trips to Ontario every year and I always go to Oswego I don't know if it's the best but I have learned it and it's what I know. If your doing day trips don't over look lake george it gets busy during the summer but I fish it a couple times a week and it has some outstanding lake trout fishing.
  4. I always start with my flat lines on the outside and my short cores and coppers inside of that and have never had a big problem I think an occasional tangle is inevitable but I don't worry to much about them, these tangles don't compare to a wire dipsey with a spinny finding a 400' copper.
  5. I now use an iPad on a ram mount on the dash it's amazing ,daily updates awesome accuracy and it has other uses. For me it was some of the best money I have ever spent in my boat.
  6. I did the same thing at 2am as we were leaving to head to Oswego. We finally found a fuse up by the throttle. That was a yamaha outboard.
  7. I run a snubber below my probe but other than that that's how I run mine. Just wait until you see how gingerly you let go of that probe for the first time and the next 50x after that. It's not the best feeling dropping 300$ over the side of the boat dangling on a cable.
  8. Last year I put 21hrs on my main and 317hrs on the kicker my 4stroke uses around a 1/4-1/5 of a gallon an hr. Between fuel savings wear and tear on the big motor and safety to me it's a no brainer.
  9. I have a 16ft Starcraft and have a 6hp tohatsu sail pro and love it. If you are looking at a 4hp I know tohatsu and mercs use the same motors for the 4-6hp so the weights are the same. Any single cylinder will vibrate I have mine mounted on a rubber mount and it's not bad at all
  10. Haha try this one. http://www.madsdocks.com/shop/Item/pmpoletree
  11. I have the 6hp sail pro and it pushes my boat great and runs perfect. It does take a few pulls to get started if it's real cold out but other than that it starts on the first pull.
  12. I'll check tomorrow if I remember.
  13. Mine are fixed position holders with a rotating base and I have never had a problem. My rods are in the trees when I'm running. Check out maddocks.com a set of triple trees with adjustable bases to my door for around 215$ is hard to beat.
  14. Boat setup plays into it but on my little boat I couldn't live without my vertical Rod trees.
  15. How do you guys rig the meatball? I use them on lake George and champlain for lakers but after seeing a 1lb ball go through the windshield of an islander when A king came unbutton at the net I decided they weren't worth it for kings.
  16. Thanks I'll look into them.
  17. Not to hijack this thread but is this common for traxtech customer service I was planning on ordering Rod holders this week and was leaning towards the traxtechs.
  18. I have trolled a lake in the Adirondacks where we camp at night and caught lakers, salmon and rainbows on flat lines in July. They definitely come out out of temperature at night. I have done best 1to 3am.
  19. I received my weights today and the quality and workmanship are 2nd to none. I can't wait to try them in a couple weeks. Thanks again

  21. It's a td its a 1 piece unit that you clip to your line or cannonball and it gives gives you a temp every 5ft of depth. They are an awesome tool for dipseys and junk lines. They also work great to find temp if you don't have a probe.
  22. 8'3" ugly's on the riggers tdr's for dipseys
  23. Thanks Baitfish, captrob you have a pm
  24. Baitfish they are all yours if you want them but if not I'll take them captrob. I live in Gansevoort.
  25. My 3 color core in my shoot rigger is my #1 for lake trout run the other 2 above and out.
