Also , I had a good conversation with the slide diver guy at the Niagara show . I said I used dipseys and walkers for my flashers . He said with the rod length leads with the dipseys , it would restrict the circle the flasher, especially the 11" , would make . Makes sense as I use 25 to 35 leads for flashers off my riggers,. Some guys are using 15 ft leads on their dipsey and hand lining the fish to the net . F that , might as well use the slide diver with the ultimate ring .

You can use a slide diver as a poor man's downrigger for shallow water fishing . By that I mean water 15 to 40 feet when the fish are surface to bottom . Let out 75 ft or more , set diver to max side setting and let out diver so it's like 5 to 10 ft ft under the surface, or 15 ft off bottom . Kind of like a underwater planer . You can get it about 15 to 30 ft off the side with a 10 ft rod . Done this a few times and it works.

Went down to check on boat this morning . Looks like about 6 more inches to hit same level from 2 years ago . Drove over to see Sandy launch . Water is starting to come up on pavement . Docks are almost completely submerged . Should be able to beach boat on my lawn to park it like I did 2 years ago .

I read the report like 3 times . Sounds to me they did a pretty comprehensive study to come to their conclusions . Now this is only one study , but if it is not completely accurate , it's more right than wrong IMO. The funny thing is I kind of already knew that hauling a fish up from 100 ft down through water warmer than their key temp was not really good for them . Toss in the longer lines now all the rage which probably adds to the problem . I guess it's up to us as fisherman to decide how we want to deal with this . The answer is maybe more salmon, steelhead , Atlantic's ,and Brown stocks .

I feel your pain ,bro 3 herniated discs and stenosis that flares up every so often . On my back for 6 weeks a,few summers ago . In pain for 2 months straight Nov Dec . Came close to surgery but healed back up . Went to a great chiropractor Jan . Fixed me up . Stay positive and don't over medicated . Watch your diet . Take the refined sugar out of your diet as it in flames your joints and loose the flab as that will help dramatically. The Dash diet . But it really is a lifestyle change . I lost 20# and feel way better . Good luck

For what it cost , everything should work . There are times ,especially spring / shallow that you don't need to deploy the probe .

I have kept my boat at Johnson's creek , the oak , Bald Eagle and currently Sandy . If I had my druthers , I'd rather be at the Oak . I usually fish west of port to west of Green Harbor . Not only is the fishing good as it is at all ports mentioned that time of year , there are amenities . Like tackle shops , restaurants , lodging and gas . Sandy has no gas , lodging or tackle shops .

Oak , Bald Eagle , or Sandy . Very consistent fishing for Kings that time of year . Best area on the lake . But you may have to go out deep to find them .

Did you do the whole distributor or just the points I had two sets of point break while out there last year . NEVER had that happen in the 30 years of owning the boat .

Thinking about converting my 305 Chevy from points to electronic . Any thoughts pro or con ?

More Brown's are the answer . Hearty , they eat what is in front of them , they stay close to shore under 150 ft for small boat guys , fun off the piers this time of year , and they can get big . And guys like to catch them ,lake and stream .

I was talking to a guy I was working with and see once in a while this fall . Told me he and his younger daughter had landed a few salmon out of the local stream and showed me a picture . I asked him what he caught it on ( I pretty much knew ) he said " we snagged them , those fish don't bite once they get in the stream " . I told him I had been doing well the last few years on skein . He did not believe me and told me I was full of it . I kept on him about it , showed pics and explained exactly what I do . Told him I would take him sometime also . I think I may have convinced him but I don't know . The DEC said they were aware of the bad trib stuff and were going to address it by" education " . Now ,I don't know what that means,but in the above case , maybe they have a point . I think the mindset needs to change . But there are those that just like to break the law . That's where the enforcement comes in . Then , swing the hammer hard .

The big Marco pass with an outgoing tide , look for the diving sea gulls . If you find them action is non stop . Saw a bunch of tarpon once also . Did not hook up there on one but lost one Somewhere else. Ditto on the back water . Like fishing bass 7 ft med action spin , 15 # braid 20 # flouro 1/4 to 1/ 2 jigs with shrimp.. Fun !
