Hey all! I just got to wondering about ..what .. how many represents a good season fishing Muskie on the St Lawrence ? For the average angler like me .. 1 would be great. My question here is for the hard core guys that know what they’re doin . I recently talked with a guy that fishes em hard on the upper Niagara. He said he and his main fishin buddy hit 40 one year recently up there. I know a relatively young guy that got about a dozen a couple years ago mainly fishing the Massena area. Other than those just the odd one here and there.

Special experiences on the water while fishing

1984 fall eslo derby. My buddy and I had partied hard the night before.. and fished the morning off the mouth of the Niagara. It turned into a blow so we ran up river and anchored to sleep it off. We’re nodding off and over the vhf we hear old #7, old #7 coast guard calling old #7.. which was my call sign. I answer and am told “your wife is goin into labor”. F me! It was a month early and my last time away.. This was over channel 68 I think.. which most boats in the derby monitored. We did a fire drill and I drove back to Rochester and made it with about an hour to spare! -

On one hand I’ll say that the captain of that boat is highly regarded on this end of lake ontario … one report I read had the length at 59 7/8” which sounds pretty precise. On the other hand… one pic I saw had them holding the fish vertically by the gill… strictly taboo… some credibility lost with that. -

Try again in about 3 weeks…The cape area doesn’t heat up until very late July … or august. Use heavy jigs or bottom bouncers.. gotta be near bottom. I hear of guys getting the odd ones now but they’re fishin all night for 1 or 2. -
Small boat harbor in Buffalo really nice. If lake kicks up you can find action right in the harbor which is big area.

Launch at fort niagara is good for lake up to Stella niagara. Launch at lewiston for Stella or devils hole. There are some good drifts on Canadian side which is prob outa bounds right now. Devils hole is fun.. run up Canadian side, cut to middle at power out takes .. ya got flat water above the us power plant. There’ll be plenty of boats this time of year..follow their lead.

Lots of eyes in the lower river. Drift by the coast guard, Stella niagara...also in devils hole this time of year.

Hey all, a friend and I are thinking of fishing bay of quinte for walleye in later may/ early June this year. Can anyone tell me how it’s been in recent years in that time period? Are there any camps with cabins you’d recommend? Thanks in advance!

I’m right around the corner from MB in front on grenadier. There’s a point on grenadier pointing towards the river..off that and along that shoreline holds walleye in the spring and fall. Don’t know if they’re in the yet. I’ve never hit em consistently in there. I spend a lot more time up in the river.
