  1. We fished out front of smokestack back to harbor. Our best was 220 to 240. Tried from 120 out to 400. Caught 9. Lost one. Mix of Kings, coho, and 2 steelhead. One steelie was 10 lb. Some on white SD with stud fly. Some on spoons. Fleas are here. Surface 68 degrees. Caught our first fish on a 300 copper, new for me to use copper. 2. great report, thanks, will be there Sunday Morning.
  3. I think minor Nick's and damage are okay as long as it doesn't vibrate. My props have edge damage from striking all the debris that was in lake Ontario last spring. Airplane prop damage can be filed out, as long as they don't exceed a certain tolerance level. It all depends on the amount of damage really. I would file it out as long as it is not excessive. Unless you want to play it safe and get a new one. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Kudos to Dave and Crew! Enjoy all his reports and even the ones when he goes for haddock and such.
  5. My advice, use 40 lb braid, or wire, and 30 lb floro leaders, or you will go broke with break offs. Also hooks need to strong, swivels etc. Use Palomar knots for swivels, and Albright for leaders. Also just keep reading the old pists under tackle and trolling. 6. It's really tough, and this is only my 3rd year. But some of my best days have when I marked very little or no fish or bait. Some of my worst days were over staging Kings with a solid screen of fish and no bites! I usually start where the latest report said, and if that isn't available I start in 80 to 100 and either look for bait, or troll north towards deeper water. I am finding temperature does not play as big a factor as I thought. When the bait is in an area seems like the fish ate there regardless of the temp. 7. I agree, my boat came with 4 of those cannon mag 10As. Two with black case ( with autostop) two with white case (older units) All work, except the auto stop on one needs a new board which I ordered from cannon. I took 2 off. No need. I run two riggers off back, a diver off each side, and I can put a lead or copper out on a planer if i want to gamble with a mess that will take 30 minutes fishing time to untangle.,
  8. Well, I'm not sure to be honest. I would try to make it as light as possible, I just want shade and waterproof. My bimini is fine now, but not sure how long it will hold up. Thought about just laying finerglass right over it, and letting it cure. I looked online and maybe FRP(?) would work. Something to think about since they are so hard to find. My Bimini Frame is old school, heavy stainless, made in the 80s, probably since the boat is an 83.
  9. I tried 15 lb floro leaders my first year and lost so much $ had to go to heavier, 30 or 40LB! Really surprised you are able to do it. Great Job Laurie!
  10. Great ideas guys. Glad I'm not the only one who had trouble remembering what that king just took. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Just got a light bite slide diver. Starting to like it a lot. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Can't you just put on the spool, it had the amount printed on it? I am going to be setting up a okuma 55 with 300 copper. I will put on a spool (150 yds) of 65 braid, then the 300 copper. I tried to put this on a Magda 45 xt but it did not fit. So I had to order a 55 when my local shop didn't have it in stock. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. I like the fact that if I use my itroll in hunt mode and the speed varies between 2.0 and 2.7, according to the chart the 300 copper will be covering about 50 to 70 feet down. I am waiting for my okuma 55 to arrive so I can try copper for my first time. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Thanks Gill T. I think I will stick to the metal ones I have mounted already. I use the level ones for dipsey and I use the one sticking up for the planer rods. I only fish one planer on each side anyways.
  15. No I wasn't horsing him. He was on a diver rod, and he was taking line off the spool quickly, drag was set right. The hook, compared to almost all the others, was noticeably a slightly finer gauge. I'm amazed at how much harder these fight when they are in the lake as opposed to when they are up the creeks.
  16. Great that you take time to make a report everyday. I also do, for every day I fish, because I am helped by others posting too. Thanks Laurie B!
  17. You could make one out of fiberglass. I have a Bimini on my Grady, and o am thinking about using it to mold a fiberglass top. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. I will connect my fish hawk td to the buds diver and work up an actual dive depth chart for us using wire line, next Time out. I'm going to do the same for my light bite slide diver, which I really do like. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. I tried an okuma 45 for 300 copper and it would not fit. Used about 25 feet mono on the spool, then 300 feet 65 braid, then 300 copper, 45 lb. No good. Lacked about 50 feet. Just ordered a 55 series. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. I know. 5 or 6 is all I can handle though. I get enough tangles already. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. I'm using that photo organization box from Michael's Kraft store, that someone suggested on here. Has about 30 or 40 small plastic boxes inside. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. Yeah, I'm thinking I will probably remove it. Anyone got a complicated plumbing job coming up? LOL. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. Look great. Better than the ones I made! Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. I have trouble keeping track of the six rods we put out. This white board will help, hopefully. My wife laughed her a$$ and said I'm taking this way too far! Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Ok, the units with the Black case have (or can have) auto stop. Mine do. One of my two is not working. You can replace the rubber slug that is in the spool, and makes contact with the rigger wire.If the auto Stop works, but does not stop, try replaceing the slug with the new steel screw. I replaced mine with the steel allen screws. If the auto stop does not work at all, the the board itself is bad. The correct board is PN 3394001, for my units which have a board that is covered in a black coating. Here is how to wire it because the one I got is different than the one that went bad: The switch wires are self explanatory. Disconnect and reconnect the white , violet, and blue wires to the switch. Then to hook up the rest of the terminals: Looking at the new board, with the switch wires at the top left: the first terminal to the right of the switch wires (mine is labeled J 5) connect the GRN/to motor/ bolt, next terminal to right (mine is labeled J2) connect to Red PWR from the CB, next one to right (mine is labeled J4) to motor (either red or mine is yellow), next one to right is (mine is labeled J3) connect to motor (black or mine is yellow/black) Last one to right (mine is labeled J1) connect to negative black from battery. I will reply to this with a picture. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
