  1. satin or buff brite?
  2. Fished 7am-11am today, Ran out to 150 and stayed in 150-200 fow all morning. Temp was 50 down 90ft, ended 7/8, all mid/high teens with one just at 20lbs. FF spoons and meat all took bites, bigger fish came from the deep meat on mag dipsey out 250. I was Due for a good day eventually!
  3. Like I said the whole point is this is very far from the easiest way to obtain a firearm. The plans are already out there, they are in every lower that has ever been produced. Anyone with a bit of time and knowledge of measurement tools can obtain them from any of the millions of these parts already in existence. These aren't top secret plans to something nobody had access to before these guys in Texas.
  4. I'd guess most of the people concerned about these 3D printed guns have never seen anything that has been 3D printed before. If you know the history of the company behind this whole deal, you would know they have been struggling for years to print one of these and have it hold up for more than a few shots without something breaking. The plastics used in the majority of 3D printers just can't hold up to the forces generated by a firearm. Also anyone who is against these plans being made public has prolly never heard of an 80% lower. With only a drill press and decent jig you can have a fully working billet aluminum lower that will hold up to 1000s of rounds. The 80% lower is NOT considered a firearm and therefore can be purchased online and delivered right to your house with no questions or background checks. Every other part needed can also be purchased easily and delivered right to your house no questions asked. My whole point is there are easier and more reliable options already out there to make your own firearm if you really want to do that. So why the big fuss over something that is more difficult to produce and much less effective?
  5. I have 2 6" sections of Berts Track pm if you're interested.
  6. This is the chart I use.
  7. We were out in Mexico yesterday, big rollers made it pretty miserable fishing in a 18ft boat. Combined with warm water, I had 69* surface and 59* down 150 over 180. It was like that from 80 fow all the way out to 200 fow. After 3hrs of getting tossed around and no fish or temps we called it at 9am.
  8. What’s the latest out of Mexico? Headed up in the am.
  9. That's how I fished the first year I year started... 2 riggers and 2 dispeys. Still managed to tangle just those a few times too! Now I can run that with no problems and have since added a decent selection of copper and leadcore setups that I run on inline boards. Started adding cheaters/sliders to my riggers this year... baby steps and you will get there before you know it!
  10. I have 2 6" sections if that will work for you shoot me a PM
  11. Don't forget about sliders on your riggers... easy way to get 2 more lines in the water. Spoons almost always without flashers, Dipseys need wire preferably but you can use braid, coppers or leadcore on planer boards. If you don't have a probe system, look into a Fish hawk TD it will give you an idea of water temps and where to start.
  12. Whats the hoop sizes on the nets?
  13. The more I look at those pictures, the more I just dont understand... Was this all from a panic stop? I don't see any heavy skid marks? Was there no straps on the thing at all? From the minimal tailgate damage, I'm picturing it actually ramping up and over the winch post and landing on top.... Did he just wax the hull? Man I really wanna know the whole story lol.
  14. I'm using 9' MH Daiwa Wilderness rods with twilli tips... works great. $20 rods. I'm using 7 strand wire, I dont know if you need a twilli tip for 19 strand wire?
  15. It has 4 AA batteries in it, I would say close to 1lb. Fish Hawk says it's shaped so it shouldn't add any resistance to downriggers, but I'm sure it has to add something. Maybe not noticeable with most guys running 10lb+ weights but with a 4lb weight?
  16. Most of the stuff you buy in the tackle shop are already brined, I think its got something to do with the VHS and the DEC regulations. Even the whole stuff is usually brined, if you can find it. Nobody seems to have whole green label herring... found some whole red label alewives at All Seasons but I prefer the herring.
  17. Looking to get a weighted steel setup, I’m looking at 200ft weighted steel 4-500ft of 19 strand wire and some amount of braid backing. My question is what size reel do I need do I need to fit all this? I have a convector 55 is that overkill for this?
  18. There's another thread on this in general discussion right now, wave forecast is calling for 1ft or less from Sodus to mexico and 2ft or less from Mexico to St Lawrance... take that with a grain of salt but that's what they say.
  19. Couple Saturdays ago, flat calm morning, forecast for 5-6mph W winds. Mid morning wind picked up out of no where 10-15mph, 3footers in a matter of minutes. I raced out at 30+mph was doing 6mph getting beat up on the way back in. Got half way back in, wind stopped and lake went to light chop, so we threw lines in and started fishing again... never seen anything like that before.
  20. Where are you heading out of? Wave forecast for mexico/oswego says 1ft or less.
  21. Awesome that's what I wanted to know, gonna order a set and give them a try Thanks!
  22. South east wind as bad for fishing as a straight east wind?
  23. Yeah that's odd... weather channel calling for 10+ knot wind all day starting at 7am but wave forecast says 1ft or less?
  24. That's kind of what I was thinking you would have to do to use it without a downrigger. Now you basically are using a fishing rod as a downrigger of sorts without the advantages of actually having a downrigger. Definitely seems like it was designed more with the portability aspect in mind than a performance improvement or existing upgrade. Imagine the blowback on that 1lb ball at 100ft down trolling at 2.5mph lol
  25. They are still out there but no where near as bad as they were a couple weeks ago. Went from checking/cleaning rods every 10-15 mins to once maybe twice and hour now.
