  1. Fished straight out of Olcott yesterday from 4:30p-9p. Ended with 4 shaker kings and a decent steelhead. Caught everything but one of the shakers, which was caught on a flasher fly, on mag spoons. Lost one good king on a FF as well. Fished 150-350 FOW with the best producing water being in the 280 range. Riggers were parked at 50 and 70. Anybody else go out of Olcott or Wilson recently? Might go again this afternoon.
  2. We also saw 3-4 huge trees bobbing up and down in the waves out there that weren’t very visible so everybody stay vigilant when driving
  3. We had a similar experience today. We started just before sunrise and quickly picked up 3 nice steelhead on spoons between 150-200 fow. After that everything went dead except for two shaker kings out in 300+ fow that we discovered while cleaning lines. The last two days we hooked logs, balloons, plastic bags, and big clumps of weeds all while dealing with heavy fleas. It’s messy out there
  4. I appreciate a report in any form that it comes. Not to mention that any time i’ve seen Brookdog at the boat ramp he’s been happy to give me the most recent info and tips.
  5. I will almost always have deep diving sticks/cranks on my outside boards, they will often pick up a few cohos for me. Last year’s favorite was a large chrome colored hot n tot. Bomber long a in northern lights color was great in early season as well
  6. Captain Bob’s in Clarence has his spoons and harnesses in stock, even a few original models in the consignment bins. You might want to give Steve a call or visit I’m sure he could give you a phone #.
  7. The obnoxiously large tail makes me think it’s a skamania with some kind of deformity
  8. I haven’t in the river but Maglips behind boards did well for me in early spring this year
  9. Also what month of spring and what species are you targeting
  10. Yes although I typically use them more in Erie tribs so I don’t really catch browns on them
  11. I like the raven trout worms on a bare hook under a float or thread the worm onto a voodoo jig head
  12. I’ve had some success with spoons straight behind dipsies with approximately a 10 foot lead. Never tried them behind a flasher
  13. You win. Spooled up my convector 30 with 80 lb. braid this morning!
  14. I’m not sure where you are located, but Captain Bobs in Clarence can put on new eyes, wrapping, and lacquer/epoxy over the new wraps but I’m not sure about any type of painting or polishing.
  15. To what extent are they damaged? Are you looking for cosmetic repair or just replacing missing eyes, new wrapping and such so they can be used?
  16. I respect your dedication but I don’t believe that a few pictures will hurt in the long run, properly (quickly) executed of course. I enjoy taking people out that don’t salmon fish a lot if ever, and they always want something to remember the trip by and to show to friends/family/coworkers.
  17. Can we pay through PayPal or some other means remotely? I don’t want to drive the 2 hours just to pick up the sign-up sheet but I would love to fish the tournament.
  18. 3 minutes out of the water seems to be the problem. When I’m releasing, I take the fish into the boat right away, take out the hook, and then either drag the fish with fish grips or in the net until cameras are ready. Total time out of the water is prob about 1 minute.
  19. I’ve only caught one in Erie and it was last August trolling ~100 FOW in front of Dunkirk on a watermelon stinger on a 10 color down the chute
  20. I’m going to Schroon Lake for a week on Saturday. There’s landlocks and lakers for cold water and smallmouth and northerns in warm water. I’ll try to let you know how I do
  21. I typically have use just a duo lock snap but occasionally I will use a ball bearing snap swivel on my rigger rods
