Lake Ontario Harbor Dredging and access to the Lake

LOTSA had a meeting the other night and the Orleans County Fish coordinator gave a half hour talk on the water depths situation. What we have for Lake Ontario now is plans, but no money or even if we have the money no resources like dredge companies to restore our small harbors. A lot of boats suffered shallow water and obstruction damage last year and things will not get better unless every one of you swinging dicks get out there and start squeeking the wheels of the guys who hold the purse strings of your tax dollars.

The possibility of nature coming through and raising the water levels are about as good as if seven hurricanes hit the Greaty Lakes Basin this year. The watersheds above Lake Ontario are at record lows and the control dams on the St. Lawrence River are now at their minimum flows.

Do nothing and get a jet ski for next year.

The purpose of this article is to inform you and your elected representatives that our government has money for harbors, just not our harbors. When your rinky dink boat ramp is useless, think of the billions of tax dollars being spent elsewhere in the USA to support the Asian manufacturers and big box retailers here in the USA.
