Buying a boat in Canada and registering it in the US?

Yeah....  It's not a problem, but you have to be organized.

I purchased a brand new Lund out of Hastings Ontario.  It had a yamaha F100 and an EZ loader trailer.  Because the Dealer (Hastings Marine) was organized, we spent less than 20 minutes at the border when he delivered it to me.  Zero Tariff on Marine propulsion engines, Lund is a US Corporation and even though it was built in Ca, no tariff, and the EZ Loader trailer was built in Spokane Wa, no tariff.  I suggest that you contact Hastings, they can talk you through it or handle any paperwork, even for a small fee, it will save you a lot of headaches.

i almost bought a boat in canada this year and i called the border before i was going to pull the trigger. The biggest thing is if it is a U.S made boat. If that is the case you are in business and it will be very easy and no extra duty. Just make sure you have all the paperwork in order and they will let you pass right through. If its not a US built boat there are extra steps and i believe duty at the border.

Good luck
