It's gonna freeze!

Ok guys, for those of you who have been hoping to get some more fishing in. If you have an inboard or an I/O, drain the water out of the block before it cracks the old mercruiser. Never mind winterizing, that can wait a bit. Right now make sure you don't crack the block.

Hang a 40 watt bulb in a drop light from somewhere so the light hangs under the oil pan with a piece of wire put the engine cover back on. Don't forget to plug it in. Don't ask why I posted a reminder to plug the cord in! By all means if your drains are easy to get at go that route. I have to remove a piece of flooring and loosen the power steering cooler to get at a block drain.

Not to worry if your inboard or I/O boat is still in the water on the Big O. The water is much warmer than the air right now and any boat in the water can withstand temps in the mid to upper 20s for a night or 2 this time of the year. Got this info from experienced marina people.
