Late July fishing trip

I am Steve Ortlip and new to this site but it looks like the place to get some inside information. I am from OK and love to fish. My wife and I and a couple of adult children will be vacationing in New York this summer for a few weeks and would like to do some Lake Ontario fishing as a part of that. Good fishing dates for us are between 7/26 and 7/30/08. What is biting then and should this generally be a good time for some fast action? We will be staying in the Hamilton area and the south and east shores north of Syracuse would be the most convenient area for us to acsess. Any suggestions for a reliable charter captain or someone who has a boat and would like to split expenses would be appreciated. Thanks, Steveo
