I cast my arm off the end of the pier Saturday.  Spoons and plugs.  All to no avail. Wind was from the east then south east at dark.  Saw some large fish surface in the channel, no idea what they were.  Before I make the trip again, what would be a good wind? First light or evening? End of the pier at the color change or close to shore? Thanks in advance.

Light N or NW winds pushes colder green water in close moving fish into casting range.  This condition rarely occurs in spring. Any front moving in usually causes a NE wind and difficult conditions. The next best times are W, SW or S winds. If too much rain happens you can end up with coffee colored water with poor visibility. Use a webcam or call the Slippery Sinker to check local conditions.
