Transducer selection

Hello. I need to replace my transducer because i am not getting a depth reading half the time. This is a new problem and the angle hasnt changed. Any advice before replacing. I have a lowrance 7 elite hdi with a skimmer transducer. Is their an upgrade on transducer?

If you get depth reading some of the time, your problem is not the transducer. I would check the wiring and have the unit on your dash checked.

As for getting a new fish finder, They are all pretty good. My personal preference is Furuno, but when you ask 2 fisherman, you will probably get three opinions

I'd call Lowrance and ask if the Airmar P66 is compatible with your unit. If so, go that route.
