  1. LMAO! I asked him the same question. Hmmmm....no GF and he does his hair for us on the boat?!?!?!?!?!?!? Im concerned now!
  2. We hit the water about 7am and fished till about 11.30. We hoovered around the mouth of the Genny for an hour or so and then headed West to about the area of the ponds. We had a steady pick of fish all day long! We ended the trip 17 for 21. Mostly Brown Trout, a few Coho, 4 Steelhead, and a 15-18lb KING to end the day! We pulled 6 top lines off our otter boats, and 3 riggers with Dreamweaver SS's, and Stinger Stingrays. Our riggers were parked at 3-8' down and 30-75' back. Popular spoons today were Dreamweaver's SS Glow Froggy, Goby (gold back), and gator. Our Stinger Stingray Sea Sick Waddler also took a fish or two. Off the boards many colored sticks worked. Rapala GFR, bomber's Puerto Rican, Black and Silver Smithwick Rogues, and a Dave's Kaboom Goby. There is a reason why these first few trips are called "shale-down runs." It is to make sure you haven't forgotten anything you will need the rest of the season. Well, we learned the hard way! Our net was left home in the basement and that caused us to break off the King at the back of the boat. He was a shinny chrome color and looked VERY healthy. I tried to tail grab him but his teeth cut our flourocarbon line like a knife! Here's all we captured from the King: Headed out now for some more fun! If this NE doesn't screw with the water.
  3. They definitely have their days! Not a gimmick. It depends on your area though. We get to fish for them in the top 20' of water. So on short cores this is a great lure. On the East side where the coho blend in with the Salmon or hang out at 50' with the steelies a spoon might do just as well. This is also a steelie bait like Gamble said.
  4. Not 100% sure about there long term objectives, but they are putting a halt to the seminars they put on in the Rochester and Buffalo area, and that guy who ran them, and some marketing for them, has taken another job.
  5. I have used them with success when the coho are in that top part of the waster column. I ran them behind 00 orange dodgers on 2-4 colors of core.
  6. I'm a McCoy fan. They are a west coast company, and recently came out with a floro that the elite BASS pros are really liking. This stuff is strong and it sheds fleas at the 25lb test strength. This line isn't cheap, but it is stronger than anything I have played with. I have run almost all the major brands too.
  7. Reyka, I will generally run them from 20-30". Most of the time its 22-24". As Mike said above I have found the 8-9 setting to be my go to setting especially on copper. Don't get me wrong.....Spin Doctors and chips do a great job and there is a lot more color combos with each of those companies. However if your looking for a white on white or a green double crush glow or any basic color paddle the SmartFish is a great choice.
  8. Browns only eat little light spoons! LOL They cant handle a SmartFish! Honestly, if your going for BT you better off with Stingers and DW SS's.
  9. Gotta bite - YES they are still open. My buddy Andy works there and he informed me that they are in the process of getting a new website. There was a falling out with the last company running their website.
  10. ICEFROG.....this was gonna be one of them guys! Thanks Yvan. By the way you need to get on Facebook and see the US vs Canada group we started! Its getting ugly.
  11. Hey great job ! Those LT's can become annoying up there. Pre-Salmon you cna usually load the boat up VERY easiyl.
  12. Call me @ 585-704-7996 and Ill get you in contact with 2 very good people.
  13. Name - Rick Hajecki Boat name - Yankee Troller Boat make - 25' Bayliner Home Port - Niagara River-Oswego Years fishing LO - 20+ Good stuff Duane!
  14. tcon - they are in there! Fish the graph (which means you might have a rigger at 20') and troll the shore line. Dont be afraid to hit the South East corner as that has the warmest water this time of year. I did my second biggest BT there when I was younger (15lbs).
  15. I have used the lauvricks and they are OK. If all your using them for is mono or short cores you will be fine. It doesn't hold a 10 color all that well. Especially in a chop. My only **** about them is if you are running a power pro tow line and try to pop the rod out of the release I have lost a few to the Lake O gods. They seem to work their way off the tow line. You can get imitations on EBAY a lot cheaper by the way. Although in using them this weekend they seemed to not slide down the tow line as freely as the lauvericks.
  16. FH is a good bet. Just look for the colored water and you should pop a few fish.
  17. Nick, What riggers and rod holders did you buy? Let us know how your rigging her. I know more people than myself are curious!
  18. Set out of Irondequoit about 8am after Jax was fiddling with the boat. Got out there and had more motor problems. Anyway, we figured them out and we were in good shape after that. Water was gin clear and in the lower 40's. We missed one west of of the bay and didn't have another touch till shipbuilders. We went 1 for 2 east of the bay and that would be it. Just couldn't find the color out there today.
