You don't want Livescope for trolling. The PS30 Panoptix transducer is what everyone's using for live sonar. I carry them at Krenzer marine, and I can drop ship them. Let me know what other questions you may have.

Autopilot for I/O with hydrolic assist steering
Yankee Troller replied to Rtrucking40's topic in This Old Boat
We install AP's on power assist I/O's all the time. Si-Tex is probably the cheapest option, but Garmin does well with it as well. If you do switch over to hydraulic steering then Raymarine EV150 would be my recommendation. Either way, I can sell it to you. If you need it installed we can do that too. If you stay with the power assist cable steer there are two options for drives. The easiest one goes behind the helm and requires about 10" of depth behind the spot where the steering wheel sits. -
Everything I've listened to on podcast or on YouTube is where I learned to stay away from the cheaper Amazon China Lithiums and stick with a reputable company like Pro Guide, Lithium Pros, IONIC, and so on. Yes, I believe most, if not all, Lithium's are made in China, but build specs and BMS specs for the higher end brands I would imagine should be better. There's actually a guy who makes power boxes on YouTube that will go into each battery brand and break it down on its construction and tests their specs they claim. He really likes the Amped Outdoor batteries, which can be found at FishUSA. These more reputable companies, like Pro Guide, have guys that fish for a living relying on their batteries. If they fail that professional fisherman you'd know. Especially if it cost them $100,000 tournament. Pro Guide has some of the countries biggest names relying on their batteries. We've sold a dozen of them over about the last two years and have not had one come back.

If you have an inboard then a thru-hull is recommended. That Garmin can run an Airmar B60. You'll be much more happy with your sonar's performance going with the B60. I know it sounds over-whelming, and if it is get it professionally installed, but it's just a hole saw in the bottom of the boat. We do it weekly here at Krenzer Marine. Call me at the marina and we can chat if you have any questions.

I bet he's logged more hours on this lake than you have. What about the time he spent on this lake before he decided to get his license? He's fished tournaments on both ends of the lake including the North shore. I'll take a tournament angler over a salty local every single time. He gives up the goods in his reports if they're there, and when it's tough he doesn't sugar coat it. What more can someone looking for information ask for? If you have a problem with what he does take it elsewhere. There's no need for that here.- 23 replies

Cannon Optimum Downriggers - NEW Software Update Available
Yankee Troller replied to Yankee Troller's topic in This Old Boat

If you've been looking for Cannon Optimum downriggers, and couldn't find any, it's becasue they were holding off on shipping them until the new software was ready. That being said, they are now available at my distributors. Contact me if you were unable to make it to the Niagara Show this past weekend to purchase some. I can ship direct to you. If you currently own Optimum downriggers you should load software update onto your downrigger(s). This can be done through the Cannon App. This software update fixes the boot loader errors, and adds a feature to bottom tracking called "Max Bottom." Here is a video on how to update the software in your Cannon Optimum Downrigger:

Wherever you can find room. We also have single 36v Lithium options as well.

I'm not sure an Ultrex has the shaft length you will need. I'm guessing you meant Ulterra? This is something we do a lot of at Krenzer Marine. The only way to follow contours will be to pair it with a Humminbird loaded with Lakemaster maps. Reach out to me and I can get you everything you need. If you want it installed we do this all the time as well. Mounting this trolling motor will require a fabricated plate, and deleting at least a section of your bow rail if I had to guess without seeing the boat.

On my Lund it's just easier than having a mast system/planer reels, and finding room in the boat for the big boards. I also use this boat to troll for Walleye. When we Walleye fish we use different size snap weights and deep diving sticks. Our spread looks like a "V", so if the lightest weight/highest presentation takes a fish that is always the furthest rod from the boat. With big boards you can't re-set that line without clearing the others. With in-lines you can re-set it very easily. We use the in-lines on the big boat as well when running multiple types of lead/copper lines on a side with that same "V" formation. Re-setting higher rods on the outside is very easy. Another great time for in-lines is when fishing in April with a 20+ mile an hour South Wind. That wind likes to push planer releases up the tow line for the big boards.
