Raymarine EV150 is a popular option. Give Kevin Jerge a call at the Wilson Boat Yard. He's out your way, and very knowledgeable about Raymarine APs.

Smokercraft Phantom 20x2 Walk Through Video
Yankee Troller replied to Yankee Troller's topic in Fishing Videos
We have one on our Tiara and clean fish on the water every time out. This boat doesn't have one, yet. Most of the times I clean fish on my tailgate when we get back. I bleed them out in the live-well on the way back in and utilize a cardboard box opened up on my tailgate. Some places, like Oneida, wont allow us to clean them on the lake. -
For starters, I need to extend a huge THANK YOU to Krenzer Marine and the Smokercraft family for the opportunity to get into a new Phantom. I'm truly enjoying fishing from this boat! If you are in the market for an Aluminum fish boat reach out to me. I spent a lot of time over the Summer sitting in this boat deciding where I wanted to put things, and how I wanted it rigged. It's no secret we love our Cannon Downriggers, Humminbird Electronics, and Minn Kota trolling motor. All of which, are on this new Phantom so we can utilize the "One Boat Network" features. I hope you enjoy our walk-through video, and I'd love to hear your comments or questions. I purposely waited to make this video. I felt I needed to get a bit of seat time in the boat and gain a true understanding of how I wanted things, and how to utilize the given space. If you've followed along over the last few months you've seen it's a fishy boat!

Yankee Troller replied to GAMBLER's topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
I've got 8, and I have been contemplating selling them and switching over to the new 20's. I use them for 3-4 weekends a season and then they sit in my garage. Hmmm -

short Coppers and swivels
Yankee Troller replied to SusanJames's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I, personally, have not gone to weighted steel for a few reasons. #1 proven by Smart Troll it doesn't have the dive curve of copper. #2 just to keep things simple with one dive curve to remember across the board. That being said I hear its much more user friendly, but I was also blown away by the Morgan's Tackle super copper with the tinned coating. We've used another brand for a long time and the tinned Morgan's was much more user friendly this season. -

Running Cheater Lines - Video Fixed

Anytime, and thanks for watching. -
We get asked often how to run cheater lines. Specifically, pinned cheater lines. Here's a clip from the outing we filmed with FishUSA.

Lake fish are actively feeding in wide open water, and CHOOSE to bite. Trib Salmon are not actively feeding and are whipped, lined, and snagged out of their environment where they are funneled into tight runs, or sight fished out of shallow water. One is clearly more disrespectful. As far as your theory about 10k of the biggest fish that's so far from the truth. 75% of the teams fishing these events struggle, which means they're weighing in small fish. Look at the spread in the standings.

The numbers taken during tourneys is a drop in the bucket when you look at what is stocked and naturally reproduced each year. Trolling open water hoping for big fish is vastly different than sight fishing a ditch or having to run a gauntlet on both sides of the river to make it to a hatchery. These big ones are half out of the water when running rapids and easily spotted by the crowds. These are pretty liberal numbers but lets say there are 50 tourneys on the lake in a season. Each one consisting of 20 teams, and each team takes 10 fish a day. That's 10,000 fish a year. For Chinook only they stock about 1,000,000 a year and due to a 50% natural reproduction rate (on average) that means 2,000,000 enter our system. I'd bet more than 10,000 leave our tribs in a months time.

Canadian tribs are closed down to Salmon fishing. Year in, and year out, they absolutely obliterate us when it comes to big fish. I'd say it's more than speculation. Also, the SR is the main natural reproducing trib on the South Shore and come Summer (July/Aug) when the Salmon are inhabiting the whole lake the East end tends to get a larger sized fish. I've watched this for years.. Are those SR naturals?

I want great fishing and bigger fish. BOTH of which can be achieved by closing down the Salmon River during "Salmon" season. Open it up Nov 1st and have at it with the steelhead. The rest of the south shore can be the wild west for all I care. The Salmon River is the only conducive stream for natural reproduction year in and year out. It is also the stream our eggs/sperm get taken from so the hatchery can do its thing, and I want the best genes being used instead of them being dragged out of the river by their tails.

Ya, we should turn a blind eye to the dirt bags that come here every year becasue they "spend money." I say dirt bags becasue they break regulations and limits up there with a lack of respect for the Salmon fishery. ONE piece of this lake benefits from this Fall Salmon run, but the WHOLE lake suffers from the best genes getting dragged out before they get to the hatchery. Canadian North Shore is your perfect example. They get big fish in the Summer. Their streams are closed during the Fall run, and the big dogs breed the big dogs. Enough about Pulaski businesses needing this. The rest of the small towns around the lake survive.
