  1. If I had to choose, I'd take an abundance of bright Silver Salmon in less than 100' of water during April/May (like we've been seeing in recent years) over deep Salmon in August and rotting September stagers (which are still a lot of fun). Rochester used to be the hub for a good stager bite in the Fall. The lake has changed. Our stocking program has changed. Sometimes, you have to change as well. Before they figure out how to bring back a Fall chew I'd rather see them try to figure out how to get the average weight increased.
  2. I can help. Give me a call at Krenzer Marine - 315-483-6986
  3. Starting to really like this Humminbird Xplore/Airmar TM165HW set-up. Here's me marking fish at 33mph. These were Walleye on Oneida Lake This was marking bait at 33mph Fish hugging bottom and a small pile of bait
  4. The stocking level we were at prior to the back to back sever winters we experienced in 13/14 or 14/15. Bait-fish assessment showed a drop in biomass after that time period. At that time we weren't trawling Ontario waters. Since then data has shown colder Winters seem to move the biomass into Ontario waters. We also have had a few years of good recruitment in a row and baitfish levels have rebounded. We were told if baitfish biomass rebounded we'd get the stocking cuts back. We're still below those levels and I'm questioning it.
  5. Thanks to everyone who has reached out. I appreciate your purchases. Keep checking as I will continue to add things.
  6. Thanks. I've had a few different trees over the years, but I will say these might be my favorite. https://finetunedwelding.com/
  7. Here's a screenshot from the TM165HW on Lake Erie back in August.
  8. If you have a P66 I wouldn't run out and by a TM165HW. The P66 is still VERY good if all you do is fish open water great lakes. If you stray inland like I do with Oneida, and target bottom hugging fish like Walleye can be, the chirp definitely can give you a slight advantage.
  9. If all you do is open water troll Lake Ontario I believe traditional sonar using the 50khz is the best option. That being said I have been running the Airmar TM165HW Chirp transducer on my Smokercraft and I've been very happy with it. This chirp transducer has a 30 degree cone, which is one of the larger cones in the chirp world. Best bang for the buck is still traditional sonar.
  10. The new Lakemaster VX work well for me. I don't visit the Finger Lakes, but Lake Ontario and Oneida Lake are great.
