  1. Looks like 6.5 miles should put you close to 250' of water.......
  2. Still the same - you can login at the link above and voice your opinions on the matter. Looks like they want to watch live bait closely, but even that you can chime in on with your feelings and opinions. Ultimately, when I spoke with Greg at the DEC office, he said that he wants sportsmen to give their opinions because the resource is all of ours. As far as our baits? I am talking with a few distributors who are looking to take on the herring in the next 2-3 weeks. Buy the spin doctors AND real meat - you need every option to get the fish in the box. Tight lines... Keith Guess NOT this year !!!! Ray you got any flies for sale................
  3. I'll be heading up to Catfishcreek next month for our yearly salmon fishing and was wondering if you have any whole bait for sale up there and if so where. I sent you a e-mail a few days ago but didn't get a reply yet.
  4. Your more then welcome Splitshot, Mine ran togather also that's why the - is there to seprate them a little.

  6. 7-10-2008 Seneca Wow it been a long time since I wet a line back in June 27th. I got the servo in the mail for the TrollMaster hooked it up at 6:15am and it didn't work. Messed around with it for a while then that was it I was going fishing. Pulled into Lodi State Park about 7:15 am and Hoot was BS with the park guy and I said let wet a line so off we went. Hit the west shore and jigged for about a hour we both had hits but didn't hook up. The wind was light when we went across the lake and now it was blowing good out of the west then worked north west surface temp was 72.5* with 61* down 50' fleas are just showing up but no problems with my riggs (30# Andes on rigger rods). We then set up for trolling running a 4 rods two rigger one wire diver and 3 color core off a inline board. Ran south and went 5 for 10 with a few light hits that didn't hook up. One rip on the diver 120' out with a panther martin lake troll and a black with white back spoon lost this one 40' behind the boat. Also one good whack on the core with a spoon (gold-and black dot). Then the rigger with the probe had a sliver BTI with a Kobalt Killer fly 12' back and 45' down took the biggest laker at 25.5". We lost a landlock on it right at the back of the boat (didn't use the net DUH !!!!!). Other rigger was 72' down 18' back with a peanut fly rig this was the hottest set up for the day. We boxed 4 , 19", 23", 24" , 25.5" and threw one 15" dink back. We had a lot of fun with three doubles and Fish for dinner .........Mmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!
  7. Seneca 6-27-2008 Brother Stan his dog King Carol and I went out this morning about 7:45 am. Ran over to the west side just north of the Showboat set up and headed north. We picked up 9 lakers and lost 5 three were real light hits. 5 rod spread with the down rigger doing all the fish. Dodger peanut rig 18' back 72' and 82' down took all the hits and fish.Starting to get darker and wind making a slight change so we called it at 11: ish. We boxed three fish 21" , 23" and a nice fat 24" the rest were 16" we put back two with eels on them. Best depths was 85' to 95' with a north troll wind out of the SSE surface temp 69.5* down temp 53* 55' down.
  8. Dave what MANIAC posted is where I got mine...........I've just been looking for that site for the last 30 minutes or so and gave up............. :?
  9. E-mail sent to :Topline Control, Inc. on 6-09-2008 Reply:Same day 3 hours later 6-09-2008 Next day: 6-10-2008 Then:6-13-2008 Then it's in the mail great..................... Well when it got here I put the new servo on pulled it in NOTHING same as it was before I sent it in. They had a new wiring harness with it and I just used a power pack to power it and plugged it in and it worked. Now today I tear the old harness out run the new one to a temporary spot because I'll have to tear the floor up to put it in with my center console. All done plug it in and you got it still don't work. Now looking at it you can plug the servo wire in either way so I call them up. My luck Bills on vacation and the nice lady gave it a shot but no go. Anyone out there have any idea on this. Thanks
  10. Seneca Lodi Point 6-25-2008 Earlier start today had line in the water by 6;15 am fishing alone and it's a little lumpy out. I gave the area just north of the pint a go and the weeds were still stacked up by not as bad as yesterday. After cleaning rigs three times I was behind the point some what so I gave the jigging a go. Missed one then over 38' I hooked up nice fight good sized..............PIKE oh well he or should I say she put up a nice fight 33" and back in the water. She looked heavy in the front and skinning part way back plus has some red mark and blotches on her belly and near her fins from spawning maybe it's from VHS !!!!! Looked like the bellies on male king salmon in late August when they lay on the bottom of Lake Ontario. Well anyway after the pike I picked up and drove across the lake to the Severn area set up two rod again and headed north with the wind at my back. With out the trolling motor running I could get .75 mph at the ball. I picked up two lakers down 38' back 15' on a BTI fly. Spoons were dead today and that was it I trolled just above Long Point and called it at 10:45 am. Lakers were small one at 17" back to grow some more and the other one was 21" and made a fine lunch...... The ride back across was a lot drier.................
  11. Seneca Lodi Point 6-24-2008 Long time since I wet a line must be Zebedee put a HEX on me......... I (fishing alone) got down to the launch about 8ish with 2 rigs lauching and 2 more already out there. I did some jigging right off the point. I had one hit that I missed and then gave up after a hour and started to troll. Lots of floating weeds kept clearing lines the wind picked up a little out of the WNW. Trolled about a mile north of the point and then a mile south. Pulled every thing up and headed across to the west side weeds were just TOO much. I set up both rigs by 10:30am and had three lakers in the box by 11:37am. Picked up two 40' back 40' down panther martin lake troll with a spoon my buddy Pete doctor up ( I told him that red spoon with pearl tape and gold tape on the cup would not catch a thing) , the last pass thru this area (was only picking up fish going south) I brought the spoon up too 35' and moved the BTI - fly rig in it place this gave me the biggest fish of the day and answer my question of running the BTI close to the ball shallow, it was 15' back 40' down. Fish went from 21.5" , 23" and 24". The wind had picked up pretty good and when I got back to the other side all 4 rigs in the launch area were gone.
  12. I give this a shot. 1. If you let your divers out too fast they may spin out and get twisting up and when this happens they could be twisted around the release so it could not release. (Been there done it) 2.If your having trouble get the diver to release when it's not twisted up adjust it at the boat so it releases fairly easy. But not by using a "BASS style hook set". (Been there done that) Also it helps if you put your thumb on the reel keeping the drag from slipping when your trying to release it. 3. Set your diver for your style of fishing get to your trolling speed drop the diver over the side and give it a flip of the wrist type hook set with your thumb on the reel if it don't release brining it in adjust and try it again.
  13. I'd like to take a look see and a ride. When is a good time and how would I get there ? I would be coming from Lodi. Is it fiberglass or aluminum ? I'm looking for aluminum with a cuddy.
  14. Yep it gets MUCH better when things set up.........the "S" will speed up your outside spread and slow up or even stall the inside if you get real agressive with your turn. Lake trout like to follow stuff before the comit to eating it as many other fish do so this will "trigger" strikes some times. It will also tell you if you may be going too fast or to slow............if the outside rod fires every time on a turn = speed up some............inside rod= slow down.................
  15. Oh before you soak them you should remove all the fat and trim up the belly meat those places are where most of the nasty stuff your' not to eat are.............
  16. I deep fry mine.............first soak in milk, salt, pepper, paprika and egg.........then coat with pancake batter and..........................cut into while still in pan so juices inside the batter fish can get out, mix up some fresh horse radish sauce and enjoy............don't forget the cheeks they are great also.
  17. The thing that sticks out the most with your spread and the one I posted over the past 12 days or so is the dipsy depth. I think I stuck a fish every time out with the dipsy rig and it was never 30' always less. I'm not sure how deep but we never had more than 110' out which on a 3-2 -1 ratio would be 36' with wire large dispy and ring but I was running mono and a size down from the large dipsy and no ring. I didn't get over 2 @ the ball which was about 2.3 SOG on the GPS so your speed looks good. I also do a lot of "S" turns and with a dodger/fly or peanut down bump bottom with the cannon ball. A bare spoon back 60+ feet from the ball and 20' down also took fish. If I was not marking fish but bait I would adjust my riggers to run thru the bait pod. We also ran tight to shoals and structre which some times will bounce your deep rigger ball on the bottom. Check and change lines on a 20 minute deal. Then try a differnt line of troll watching your rigger balls to see that they are tracking straight for you ................that's all I can think of right now. Maybe Ray or some of the good trollers on this site will give you better advice.
  18. The first time I went to a shop that made covers and got the stuff they used.............Ouch $$$$$...............now I use the stuff at Wal-Mart in the camping section for my tent and boat cover.................it seamed to do a good job so far and the price is not bad..............
  19. As goin hungry said give us your spread that you have been running and maybe someone can help you. June is a tought month on Seneca but BIG fish are also in the picture now...............
  20. 6-15-2008 After a BIG breakfast Stan wanted to try for some more fish. Late start at about 11ish till 2ish only picked up one laker in the first 15 minutes down 20' back 60' over 45' FOW on a spoon black back with some craked ice tape on it and a sliver cup + a eye on the thin end. The sun was wicked hot with the surfac temp up to 65* and 49* down 50' very little wind. No Clue called me on the radio said he boxed one at 24" so he was off to a good start. Later on we gave the jiggig a go with maybe two hits and Stan jigged up a sawbelly...............
  21. 6-14-2008 Brother Stan his dog King and I ran across the lake to just below Severn set up a 4 rod spread and trolled north. Light wind over cast and foggy surface temp at the start was 59* and 62* at about 2 miles south of Long Point. We picked up three laker 19"-20"-20" two on a mono diver rig back 80' with a small panter martin lake troll with a dirty white boy spoon 23" behind one over 45' FOW and the other one 65' FOW. The other fish was picked up on a rigger down 52' back 15' sliver BTI and Pearl Glow fly. The rain was ready to hit so we pulled up and headed in, we were NOT tearing them up anyway.............
  22. Legacy what hole on the front ? Billy V and Ray are using the first one or the one the way they came rigged. Yep I play around with leader lenghts also but most often have a got one. When I use peanuts I also vary lines which will give it more or less "jumping" motion. I went to a braid one time for a while and that made the peanut act like it was "wacked-out" jumping around like a Mexican jumping bean............... ..........had to add a sleve(straw from a WD-40) in the peanut to keep the braided line from cutting it into.
  23. Thanks Billy V ........ are you guys running them on rigger and divers or just divers. I see where the diver lead would be related to the lenght of the rod but do any of you have a "at least" this far back from diver rule ???/ ....... On the down rigger what distance from the ball is your starting point. My dodger go to is 15'...........my BTI is 10'..........then I would drop back more as the day goes on if the fish bite drops off before I would start chaging colors. .................... What is you go to color first thing (pre-dawn).........and where do you go from there if the bite stops ???? ......................
  24. Ok there on the way..........
