  1. https://www.northcountrypublicradio.org/news/story/40209/20191223/water-flows-reduced-at-moses-saunders-dam Even though waters are acknowledged as high they are going to reduce flows now to "reduce stress on the ice cover downstream".
  2. Wasn't it written into the IJC charter that they cannot be sued from the results of their actions? I think I read that somewhere. If that is true that is the primary issue at hand. The idea of private shipping interests being represented by a quasi international government entity is a major red flag. If an entity is immune from any repercussions from its actions there is no driver to ensure its actions are kept in check. Let's say weather had more to do with this like iiwhistler says-if they could be held responsible you can be dam sure they'd have all the data presented in an orderly fashion to depict no fault. You could also be dam sure they would not be lackadaisical about missing opportunities to increase flows when needed. What we have is a bureaucracy that has zero incentive to be proactive and shipping corps shielded from fault. Whether its weather or man-made doesn't matter as much as the fact there is zero culpability.
  3. What were your GPS coordinates?
  4. I saw the snapped off telephone poles and downed trees everywhere in Cape the next day. That was a crazy blow.
  5. Saw one in Buffalo Craiglist today. 18' but seemed under powered with just a 40hp on it. Price was right though...
  6. Most likely a greenland shark, maybe a bull shark. Hard to tell.
  7. The USACE permit wouldn't be that big of a deal between the DEC and USACE and that's not how mitigation works. I'd argue minimal wetland impacts would accrue due to a new delineation taking into account a higher ordinary water mark incorporating the cattail coverage. The show stopper is $$.
  8. Ok, GREAT! Thank you!
  9. I have two Captains Pak Manual riggers that are in need of repair. I will be calling Big Jon service soon because I am having a tough time finding the parts I need online. Is there anywhere local that specializes in Big Jon service locally? The service work seems very simple, but I am having a terrible time finding the parts online.
  10. Thoroughly impressed. One of, if not my favorite hauls.
  11. Any live well lines busted?
  12. Agreed. Good Point.
  13. Show me where the Environmentalists of 2014 predicted water transparency changes caused from a rise in water levels. Never saw that discussed. Why would would new water transparencies be expected to be permanent? I agree with bluegiller that disturbance is causing the transparency changes. Are we rooting for further disturbance to maintain these levels of new water transparency that benefit fishing? Because I'd guess that be subsequent new higher highs.
  14. We never made it to the salmon waters but should have. Launched at isthmus. Trolled every walleye spot I know of for 8 hours on Monday and did not get one fish. Should have motored straight to Stony. Probably would have had a better chance at walleye fishing trout in those waters.
  15. Anyone fishing the Henderson area for trout/salmon willing to share a report?
  16. Someone stole stainless screws from your transom???? WTF
  17. Thank you very much for this. I've watched it 20x.
  18. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but when I last used it, an 18ft is fine and once you leave the narrow cattail channel go tighter to the right side of creek mouth while following/finding the channel out to the lake.
  19. Its high and rising every day. Its over its mean water mark. Luckily, many of the vulnerable areas that were exposed two years ago have added infrastructure now, but nonetheless folks with property on the shoreline are worried history repeats itself.
  20. Hopefully there isn't a hurricane the night before the opener like last year. All of the floating debris and colored water made it tough. After the opening weekend the bait showed up and made the fishing extremely difficult. I am not sure what the bait was composed of, but I think it may have been ciscoes. Enormous clouds of bait and over long distances. Hard to catch a walleye that has three cisco tails hanging out of its mouth. The few times I did catch multiple fish in an outing it was away from the bait believe it or not.
  21. Just got my Cutco and used it for the first time on a batch of crappies. Never used a knife that sharp before. I almost bled out from nicking my finger with it.
  22. It's not. It boils down to ones own conscious. You either have a conscious that wasting game hurts or you don't. I have thrown out meat gone bad and it sucks. I've had goldeneye in the freezer for years. Now I just don't hunt them even after doing a 90% pork 10% goldeneye sausage that sucked. I don't like eating stream browns, but will eat one a year for eggs. If I can massage eggs from a brown and release it, I'll do that. Once someone takes possession of a fish, brings it home, I feel it is their business-once you start imposing yourself upon that, it is too slippery a slope in my opinion. Tying up eggs for bait seems like proper sportsman etiquette-akin to using antlers from a previous buck harvest to rattle in next years. Regulating away the use of real eggs as bait or real antlers as a game call takes too much away from the activity if you ask me.
