  1. Does anyone have a good feel for how much depth is added to various coppers with various dive bombs? Also, where along the length of the copper are they most effective. ie. can I make a 450 copper into effectively 600 copper performance? , or a 300 act like a 450?
  2. Anyone have any data or idea of how much a particular size dive bomb will increase the depth of a particular length copper?
  3. I've been told the best months are Sept. & April.... FWIW Actually, I've sold 3 salmon fishing boats. 2 in March and 1 in July.
  4. Look within the edit function. I think that is where I found it once. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  5. Also, note the new autopilots are NEMA 2000 and hooking them to your older NEMA 0183 GPS etc. is probably not straight forward. I;m no expert but am currently going through this as I just installed an Evolution 200 and am thinking it may be best to get a new NEMA 2000 GPS.
  6. Many times the bait & hooks will be consistent depth with good temp. You never want to ignore the marks though. I would normally fish the marks for kings unless they are way high out of temp. or right on the bottom (often lake trout). Remember, "temp" is a range. Many kings are taken not much above 40deg. and at times at and above 60 deg. Not much for thermocline yet but soon you will find a rapid temp change usually around 55 deg. Fish will often congregate above and below and in that zone.
  7. Your situation sounds similar to mine. I just had hydraulic steering and a Raymarine EV-200 autopilot installled on my 27' Amberjack earlier this year. If yours is like mine, you only have power steering on one engine and this prevents you from trolling with either engine (or you troll with one but have no power steering). For that reason, I went to hydraulic steering which allows you to run either. The Raymarine EV-200 is probably the right size for your boat and it works beautifully at all speeds. I'm still working on the steering being a little stiff at high load/speed but at lower speeds & trolling it also works very well.
  8. There were quite a few fish yesterday in 125-175 FOW between P'Ville and Hughes, mostly 50-60 down. Did not take any big kings but several in the 5-12 lb. category. Also took a couple LT and a steelhead. Riggers, dipseys, 10 color, all worked.
  9. Nice job. Looks like you got to use it too!!
  10. How big is the boat? Single or twin I/O?
  11. I've fished on this boat several times and the twins are a very nice set up. It fishes well and trailers nice. Trolling with one engine is excellent, and running with both it really scoots.
  12. Not exactly on topic but sorta. From Fur-Fish-Game mag July 2015.
  13. Interesting, I popped him an email.
  14. The hook end of your spoons looks different, or is it just me?. Do you mind sharing what you were using?
  15. Thanks for the report. The more info the better.
  16. I think I may have talked to you a couple of years ago at Bear Creek launch. Was the boat when you bought it "Rebel "J"? If so, it belonged to a deceased friend of mine who purchased it new from a small time dealer on the west side of Rochester. I think it was the only one he ever sold and I believe it was Canadian made. Don't know any more than that. Hope it is working well for you. You have it looking nice!
  17. Be careful with the size of your drain holes so that items like your knife, or pliers, or whatever don't go through.
  18. I had this made by Tony at Great Lakes Planers a few years ago. It fits standard track systems. It was the first one he made and a little pricey, but it is very nice. The table is a standard Magma model I think. More food for thought.
  19. can't upload image of cleaning board mount. may try later
  20. I was just a touch west of you guys Sat. straight off P'Ville. Took out a long time friend and his son and two of his grand sons. My son helped me work the boat (confusing I know). Fished 7:30- 2:30. Landed 13 and missed a few more. Most were 6-8# steelhead, a couple 6# lakers, and a 15# king. 5 color was hot with a blue/silver Stinger, riggers fired at 20-40 w/purple glow & Stinger NBK. Top lines with red GP & red Jr. Thunderstick, and yellow/silver Stinger worked well. Best depth was straight out in 200-220 FOW. Fog got worse as the day progressed and as we returned to port at 3:00 via GPS, I couldn't see the midchannel bouy until it was about 200 ft. away and shore was nowhere in sight. This was a trip that had been planned for several weeks with people traveling distances. There were plenty of weather of weather worries earlier in the week. Amazingly, the lake was flat, and the weather was nice, and the fish cooperated.
  21. Watched the 2 hatchery trucks stock what they said were about 20,000 rainbows at P'Ville today. They were about 10" long and well fed. Video added: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4zkBR_CmLk

  23. I'm not where I can look at mine now and it's been 3 years since I put mine on, but I believe that after all is in place, you are supposed to drill a hole through the horizontal bar and the collar on each side. Tony supplied a pin with a spring loaded ball at the end to insert in there. I think it was about 1/4". Maybe they were just for the uprights as you state. Mine have never moved. Probably best to just give Tony a call.
