  1. Here is a nice trail cam pic I retrieved yesterday. Thought I'd post it.
  2. I'm old school and have had a 4 rigger spread forever, and still do. The last few years many boats have opted for a 3 rigger set up. I'm not sure I understand the reasoning but would like to hear others thoughts. I've heard some say that since they run more junk rods these days, it keeps them in their rod limit. With the advent of 3 rods/person, it seems like that is less of a concern. I guess the real question is do you believe you catch more fish with 3 riggers than 4?
  3. With that technique, you are seeing the distance from the transducer to the weight, not the depth of the weight. A 12# torpedo will often have a larger blowback than 5 ft. when down 110 ft.
  4. Attached is the chart that I wanted to post in the thread: CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD WORD DOCUMENT I made it in 2003 from the weights of the fish in the 2003 "$1000/Day Derby" Thanks, Dick
  5. I've been running a 585 for a couple years now. In general I like everything about it. One thing I have not been able to do is to get the digital overall bottom depth to display when the bottom is not showing on the screen, as when zoomed to the top 120' when over 400'. I suppose I could read the manual again, but thought someone might know the answer quickly. Thanks, Dick
  6. I have electrical tape wrapped on mine and it works. The 3m 5200 sounds like a better solution.
  7. I have these 4 downrigger weights that I acquired several years ago. They are "homemade" and look like someone's experimentation. I've not used them and don't know how well they work. The disc shaped ones are about 10# ea. and the "rocket" shaped one is about 8#. Price is $50 for the lot. Pick up in Walworth, NY. PM me here if interested. Thanks.
  8. I hope they are going to sort it out into a nice ordered list for each of the three, plus show the payouts.
  9. Would like to see complete list of results. Please ....
  10. Stayed at the Lighthouse several times a year for the last 6 years. No problems.
  11. Lighthouse Motel in Olcott. Lots of rooms, fisherman friendly, reasonably priced. 7 miles from Wilson.
  12. As mentioned above, I use them as a stop for the cheater. Without it, sometimes the clip on the cheater will slide over the mainline swivel and deform it or open it. Also, if you want, you can reel it up to the rod tip for storage without the swivel passing through the end guide.
  13. This is done at times to stop creep of the reel under the pull of the dipsey. It allows a looser drag setting. Just half hitch the rubber band over the wire between the reel and the first guide, snug it up tight, then loop it over the reel handle behind the knob. Usually, the strike will break the band. I'm sure there are variations, but this is the basic idea.
  14. Works fine on the Moor coated cable for a Sub Troll. A little hard getting the beads on but works fine.
  15. I have put 5 colors + backing on a 209 in the past. That is about the limit.
  16. Another option is to pinch the hook points in to touch the shank on the front hook. This tends to maintain the original action while eliminating the other problems mentioned.
