  1. As YT said the end caps are an issue like other brands. I need to glue mine (4) as suggested above. Currently, I just have them wrapped & overlapped w/black electrical tape. I did manage to pinch my finger in a tight spot on them once last year, but I don't really know how it happened. All in all, they are very nice.
  2. Not really so much as to how we named it but the evolution of the boat logo on the transom. My first Landing zone was a 24.5 Sea Ray Amberjack and the letters were a variation of a stock script. My second was a 31 Ft Baha and since one of my sons is a graphic designer he created the first logo below (note the characteristic Baha top). For various reasons, I downsized next to a 24' Lund Genmar Sportcabin. The next image shows how the logo was modified to represent tthe Lund. Lastly, I went larger again to a 27" Sea Ray Amberjack and my son modified the logo again to reflect that change. Thought someone might appreciate the sequence.
  3. I use the half hitched rubber band to the backer when pulling 350'+ copper from the big boards. It smooths surges in the heavy pull keeping the "line" in the clipper. Mkes sure you adjust the clipper so that a streched rubber band will pull through on a hit. You will also have to remove/break the rubber band before it enters the reel, unless your line guide will accept it.
  4. I got a response from Senator Mike Nozzolio stating that he will support the new bill when it comes up.
  5. I'm still struggling a little with numbers for setting 2 dipsys per side. All say to run the deeper diver (say #1 setting) closest to the boat. Then most advise letting out 10-100' more out on the outside diver (say setting #3) to maintain separation. Looking at "Precision Trolling", that would usually put the outside diver at or below the depth of of the inner diver. I thought, the outside line was supposed to be higher? Help?
  6. Have had this kicking around. It is for older Cannons (says for Marlin Electrics, Digi-Trolls, Mag 10A's, Mini-Mag /Lexan Frame). Don't think it has been used. Price is $10.00, shipping included. Paypal preferred. PM me if interested. Dick
  7. I also own the captain deluxe system and have had it for 2yrs. now. Originally, I was also concerned about the scratching so I cut off short sections of brass slugs from rod and placed them between the set screws and the tube. It works fine but I don't think it is necessary. In reality, once you figure where you want things, they don't move much, or at most they are rotated on their axis and you can't see any mark anyway. I have been very satisfied with my system and found Tony to be easy to work with for any customization, etc. I designed a cleaning table mount and he made it for me perfectly.
  8. I was not aware, but It was mentioned at the LOTSA seminar that the "3 Rod Rule" expires at the end of this year. That is what is in the original legislation. http://m.nysenate.gov/legislation/bill/s2462b-2011 I don't know what, if any, activity has started to get this renewed or made permanent. I sent an email to Senator Nozzolio, who supported the original bill, asking him to advocate getting it made permanent.
  9. If you choose a 4 cycle kicker then the best option imho is to connect it to the main tank. I did this on my last boat (24' Lund) and connected the 6 cycl. I/O to a Yamaha T8 via an EZ Steer. I had a fixed welded aluminum bracket mount for the kicker. I have some pictures somplace. PM me if you want more info.
  10. Here is another look: http://www.lre.usace.army.mil/_kd/Items/actions.cfm?action=Show&item_id=3882&destination=ShowItem

  12. How do you think this compares to the original Moor coated cable?
  13. Anyone tried one of these? I saw them yesterday at the Syracuse Sportsman's Show and they looked pretty interesting. http://ped-products.com/index.php
  14. I've done that (bend the eye) to get a straight pull. Don't know if it helped, but it looks good. One problem is that some trebles are so hard that you can break the shank in the process.
  15. "Hi Jake... Do you have a single outdrive or twins? I'm trying to figure out the best system for twins on my AJ that currently have power assist on one drive.
  16. Anyone do it in a dehydrator that just has a fan but no heat? I got one of these as a gift a few years ago & haven't used it. I want to make it with ground venison using the shooter but wonder if I need to get a different dehydrator.
  17. I can understand that all works well when trolling with the engine with power steering. I like to keep the engine hour usage on each engine approximately the same and since trolling uses many more hours, that engine gets much more aging than the other. I would like a solution that allows for use of either engine. Maybe switching to hydraulic steering would enable this but the expense is significant. I don't think the mechanical system will work correctly if you put power steering on the other engine. Maybe there is a way but it is more involved than that. Sorry, didn't mean to hijack "jennings" thread, just interested in the same issue.
  18. From the DEC "General Regulations" "Fish Cleaning Law It is illegal on New York State waters to possess walleye, black bass, brook trout, lake trout or Atlantic salmon that have been cut, dismembered, filleted, skinned or otherwise altered so that the species and total length of such fish cannot be easily determined. However, these fish may be gilled or gutted. Other species of fish may be filleted provided that the skin is not removed from the fillets. This regulation allows more effective enforcement of harvest regulations on protected game fish." Personally, I think this law is overkill and potentially causes way more aggravation than the good it accomplishes. The law is relatively new (10 yrs.?). I have proposed in writing getting rid of it. Nothing happens.
  19. Are these I/O's? I presume they are. I'm interested in what information you get with your question since I have the same scenario in my 270 Amberjack. One of the issues it seems to me is that if yours is like mine, only engine has power steering. When operating the engine without power assist, will the autopilot be powerful & robust enough to move both outdrives? Glad you brought the subject up since I have the same question.
  20. Here is a nice trail cam pic I retrieved yesterday. Thought I'd post it.
