  1. cb, i personally never heard of pressure testing a fuel tank. i dont think they are pressure vessels. what i mean to say is i don t think they are made to withstand too much pressure, but like i said, i never heard of doing it so i would be careful if i were you. as posted before check all hoses etc.. john
  2. I used the new probe for the fishhawk for a couple of weeks last year, it really works very well. it uses four double A batts and lasted until I quit fishing, quite a few hours on them. a nice stable read compared to the old probe. 250.00 for the new probe. john

  6. I am all for it, I fish alone a lot of the time and at times am very tempted to add another line (however, I don't do it or fish on any boat that does). John

  9. just a heads up on gandermountain electronics policy. 30 days to return any elecs. i bought a radio in june (VHF) and installed it in july, in august it would not xmit, toke it back to gander in cicero ny and was told it was too late. i know the company who made it will repair it, but i needed it now not weeks or months later. just remember if u buy xmas gifts that the return is not good in april or may when u use it. john
  10. I left the phone number on my boat and would like to call mark cooper, he does canvas work and i believe lives near hannabal. john
  11. I know I'm getting old, but I would like to know what MOE means. Don't know how well u know bill, but he's always been a super guy when I have been there. had my slip next to him until I moved to a dock with power. john

  13. think about where your motor is ... its covered in a cramped space, keeps a lot of heat in there, and like was said it works hard. when i return to port i open my doors to engin room to exchange heated air. been using 20/50 for 15 yrs, no prob. 350 lt chev. (no trolling) john
  14. fishtales if u dont do it before launch time , come see me on red dock 9. will show u my set up, never had a prob in 15 years, running camera, riggers etc.. john
  15. fosort give me a call for mag 10, maybe i can help. 570 773 2901 would do the pm, but i normally screw it up. john
  16. I hope I am not taking sides, but the older cannons do not have circuit boards, they do not stop upon exiting the water. they do stop when pinned on the boom and if the circuit breaker trips u must manually reset it with the little white button. they are painfully slow in retrive and should be able to (as stated before) come up with flick of switch and down while holding switch in down position. u can change the switch very easily, and u should remove the cover everysooften to grease the gears, makes them work better. john
  17. i also drain the fuel out of the tank, as of now its empty. it depends on who u talk to about what to do, but with all i read and the mecs i talked to i think its better to empty the tank, have been doing it for years with no water probs. john

  23. I am in the market for a used houseboat. would like it around 30 ft and on pontoons. any help or info would be appreciated. john
  24. I really would like to see them change the rule on having at least two people on board. I have fished most derbys and now find myself fishing alone most of the time, I released a weigher steelhead in the spring and caught a 16 lb steelhead while fishing alone about 10 days ago, of course I was alone. it just don't make sense to me, if people are going to cheat they will try to find a way. The rule should read that you must have at least one honest person aboard. I would like to see the rule changed to allow another person, other boat , marina person or who ever is available vouch for your catch. Not to rant too much, but if one guy lies his partner must swear. john
  25. fishnuts, is that wrights landing or some other marina, i fish all the time from wrights, green dock 13, will be there early may or the end of this month. will fish the derby, but mostly freom wilson. john,
