  1. Thanks Anthony, I'll take em.I'll get a money order and send it out to you tomorrow(tues.2/8)
  2. I'm interested in the 3 #3133 rigger & swivel mount locks. How much for the three of them and shipping to Mass.?
  3. Tim you gotta use the DVR feature on the dish box.I was in Long Island this weekend, but set the DVR to record it while I was gone. Watched it Sunday when I got back.
  4. Installed a washdown pump on my boat, and would never want to be without it again.Blood is no longer a problem. After we net a fish and there is blood on the deck a simple hosing with the washdown gets rid of the mess in an instant.
  5. I have the Dish Network with the Sportsman channel, the Outdoor Channel, and the WFN (world fishing network)so get to watch Angling the Great Lakes show.It was a good episode. The next one will be the orleans county derby. Fishing 411 with Mark romanack is another good show that has a fair amount of Great Lakes Salmon and Trout trolling segments. There is still way to many Bass fishing and Redfish shows on the tube, but I guess that's what draws the money.Guys like us Salmon trollers, are in the minority.
  6. I've run Yamaha high thrust four strokes on my last two boats, and they are an awesome motor.I had a 9.9 on my Trophy, and now have a T8, 8 HP elec.start, with power tilt and remote controls at the helm,on my Seacraft. It runs like a watch, and is extremely quiet, and sips fuel.I love the power tilt, just hit the button on either the control box or on the outboard and up it comes. I also have it mounted on an Adventure marine fixed mount, which in my opinion, is far superior to any of the adjustable mounts. With the power tilt ,a push of the button brings the motor completely out of the water when it's time to run with the main engine. The 8 horse pushes my boat like a charm and the boat weighs over 5,000 lbs.I put a lot of constant run time on them and they never missed a beat. High thrust is the way to go,they not only have a different prop, but a different gear ratio as well. They are designed to push heavy loads such as sailboats,so they are better in the push department than a standard motor. Yamaha is one of the most popular kickers on the water, but Honda's are sweet as well,I don't think you'd go wrong with either. The Honda does have a higher capacity alternator on it.I'd go with the one that has a dealership within range, just in case you ever need service that you can't do yourself.
  7. I agree with Gambler,as it being a Cisco. We caught loads of them in lake Champlain,Identical to the one in the picture.Almost everyone we caught came on spoons being trolled for Atlantics. I was told by locals that ciscoes are very good eating when smoked
  8. Here you go, no nonsense truly commercial quality aluminum ofshore boats made out of aluminum that will take any beating you care to give it.These are real offshore aluminum boats. http://www.blacklabmarine.com/usnarosa34xc.html http://www.blacklabmarine.com/v2sup.html http://rocksaltalloyboats.shutterfly.com/
  9. Nothing to it.You have to take the cable off the spool to expose the set screw that locks the spool to the shaft. Then you can take the handle off and proceed to remove the square cover off the other side and slide out the shaft. You'll see once you get into it that it's pretty basic stuff, and not much to it.
  10. keep my boat in a very safe place, but still had a bunch of tackle stolen.Over 200 flies a whole load of spoons and J-Plugs and countless other stuff. Now we remove everything and take it home, what a pain in the a$$ that is. Just a whole lot more work for us because of some lowlife scum. I only wish I could catch them,I'd love a good reason to use my 12" cimeter, for something other than salmon. When are the fools who make policy going to realize that bull sh-it reform of criminals doesn't work. These creeps need to be gotten rid of.Once a thief always a thief. When are the voters going to get their heads out of their a$$es and vote for politicians who actually stand for what is right. The weasels who stole tackle from anyone will never change. They will always be slime, and they are not going to magically change their ways and become good citizens, because of some feel good crap from the bleeding hearts. If you believe that they will change, then you might as well believe in nursery rhymes
  11. Okay little Jonny,where did you hide the soccer balls??, OOP's I forgot i had them in my shirt. * * * * * * * * * * *
  12. Yeh, you got that right. She bit me a few weeks ago when I netted a fish. It's not a good idea to wear shorts when you have to lean over the engine box to net a fish. It is a super non skid, and it looked beautiful for the first season, but I wish I didn't make it such an aggressive finish. It's a b-tch to clean, and now it looks like crap.I think the flattened finish of the gel coat was a mistake,as it absorbs anything that gets spilled on it. I think I'm going to put a layer of paint on it to knock down the finish a bit and seal it up a bit.
  13. Heck,I've been a member of that club since 1982,and almost made the same mistake a second time. Now I have a real Hottie......,She's sitting on a trailer in Olcott, all 23'6" of her.
  14. Well said Gary.Just keep making great flies, and doing the good work.Soccer moms?God the more of them I can offend, the better.I actually find them and their mini vans to be more offensive than four letter words.
  15. My daughter said that they felt it where she works in Northampton Massachusetts.(western Ma.).Several years ago, when on a fishing trip we had one wake us up around 1:00 am while sleeping in Fairhaven NY. I can't remember if we fished that day,but I seem to remember poor fishing.
  16. I had Atlantic Towers build a custom arch to fit my boat. They have patterns on file for a lot of boat brands and models. The custom arch is nice because it's a one piece Arch and is made to fit a specific model boat. I had them make it with six rod holders. I'm very happy with it.It's made well with 1.90 OD. aluminum tube, with good quality welds. The mounting system is also easy for a do it yourself install. It cost me about $1,800.00 for the arch including delivery to my house.Delivery can be the downfall if you are not on one of their routes.I live in Massachusetts, and close to rte 91 which is one of their areas they deliver to. If you have to have it shipped common carrier, it could be very very expensive. On the other hand,I got prices from several other custom fabricators, and all were at least 500 to 1,000 dollars more. If you have a custom fabricator,or a good welder in your area who is experienced with marine arches it may be the way to go.Also Great lakes Planers makes some nice rocket launchers.I needed the arch to put the Radar dome on ,and also mounted the planer board reels and pulleys to it. **Chowder is correct about the mounting system. We used 1/4" aluminum baker plates and each mount has three thru bolts.Atlantic supplies good instructions, and they also recommend that you have the arch,a bit wider than the boat,so that you have to pull it in so that it's under tension/stress when mounted. I can easily hang off it,and i weigh 250 it doesnt budge or flex at all.It is very strong and secure.
  17. I run a T8 Yamaha high thrust on my 23' Seacraft. Two seasons now and it performs flawlessly, and pushes the boat(5500lbs)effortlessly.I love the power tilt feature. Any Yamaha or Honda high thrust 8 or 9.9 will do the job nicely
  18. Trim tabs, especially large ones, can drastically alter the ride of your boat with very little adjustments. I've scared a few people on my boat when I wasn't paying attention with the switch.Actually,it's kind of funny in a twisted way, watching the expression on their face when they think I'm making a barrel roll. Your best bet is to start off with zero tabs and make small adjustments until the boat gets up on plane and rides level from port and starboard.Once you get used to them you'll know where they have to be for most conditions. Tabs are a big help on most boats. In rough water in a head sea you can drop the tabs and keep the bow down, allowing for a much better and safer ride when under power. In a quartering or beam sea,you can make small adjustments to one tab to keep either the port or starboard side at a more level attitude to the water. I also have a very deep vee steep deadrise on my boat and even though it can handle some nasty stuff, the tabs are a nice addition and a big help in ride & handling in crappy conditions.
  19. Most major brands of radios work very well, and all have great performing low cost models.I've run Icom's and Standard Horizon brands on my boats and they were flawless. You can get a perfectly fine radio for less than a hundred bucks.I've always used The Shakespeare Galaxy antenna's although there are other good brands as well. Here's a couple for $69.99 and $89.99 from Hamilton Marine.they are out of Maine they ship very quick and are great to deal with.I ran the Eclipse radio for ten years on my last boat and it never Missed a beat. http://store.hamiltonmarine.com/browse. ... 32867.html http://store.hamiltonmarine.com/browse. ... 1,0,0.html
  20. Ran a 9.9 Yamaha on my last boat( 21' Trophy) with great results.I now run a Yamaha T8 with elec start & power tilt on my 24' Seacraft. The boat weighs over 5000 lbs with tackle fuel and crew, and the T8 pushes it at all salmon speeds with no problems. If you're in snotty conditions with big wind and waves,no kicker is going to work that great, but in almost all conditions it performs flawlessly. The high thrust is really the way to go,as they have a different gear ratio, and a different prop. They are made for pushing heavy loads like sailboats,They don't have to work nearly as hard as a standard model to push a big load.
  21. Thanks. Yes it is an Adventure Marine bracket.I have one full season on it,and love it.I ran kickers before on my last boats, always on adjustable brackets, and they were okay, but I'll never go back to an adjustable again. This is just so much more solid, all nicely welded 1/4" aluminum, and has plenty of setback so that tilting the kicker up all the way is no problem.I think they rate it for a max of 140 pounds, but that must be a liability thing, because when it's thru-bolted to the transom it will hold a heck of a lot more than that. It's very well made. I can't think of anything bad about it. At the height it's mounted,I can tilt the kicker completely out of the water when it's time to run with the I/O,and get it plenty deep enough in the water when it's time to troll. I can't think of any negatives other than it's a bit expensive,(approx $325.0) but hey, I guess that's the price of boat ownership.
  22. I ran all my electrical cables, along with the throttle and shift cables, from the control box up front, to the transom.I then drilled a hole in the transom above the kicker, and left a few feet of slack for the wire harness and controls,I slid a rubber boot over all of them and affixed it to the transom. It made for a nice neat install, and the motor can be moved and tilted to it's full range with no problems.I ran the fuel line thru a separate hole with a bulkhead fitting. It all works very well. If your running shift cables through,it's best to make a complete loop with them to give you more rage of movement. Here's a picture of my setup.
  23. This may be of interest to you on the worries about the impact on great lakes and ocean fishing access.Tonight (3/9) Fox business will be interviewing people involved in this possible problem.I pasted this from another site. Robert Montogomery's article on the ESPN Outdoors saltwater web site yesterday regarding the White House Ocean Policy and the Obama Administration's announcement on accepting no more public input on it has created quite a stir in DC. The offices of the American Sportfishing Association, the Congressional Sportsman's Foundation (CSF), Coastal Conservation Association, BASS and others are being deluged with calls from Capital Hill staffers on what they can do, and also for interviews and follow-up info from many mainstream media outlets. Tonight at 7pm EST on Fox Business News (http://www.foxbusiness.com/our-team/on-air/index.html to find the cable station in your area), the CSF and possibly others from the sportfishing industry will be interviewed on this topic. We hope you tune in to hear more on how all of this impacts the recreational fishing industry. Here's the link to the ESPN article by Robert Montgomery... http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/salt ... id=4975762
  24. NOAA? Yeah I'll start listening to them when they can get the weather and wave forecasts right. They suck.Another bunch of overpaid Government slugs.
