  1. How does not one Brown get weighed in on the opening day??????????? Is it a case of guys catching them and not weighing them thinking they dont have a chance? How many are kickin' themselves for not pocketing 100 dollars?
  2. It was a tough bite for me out there today. Took a total of 12 fish in about 9 hours of fishing. I marked a ton of fish but I think they had lockjaw. I threw everything at them, hair , plastic. Trolled reef runners, spinners off bouncers. Lindy rigs took the majority of the fish.
  3. Good luck Bruce, put something on the board would ya!!!
  4. Set sail at 6am and headed lil east. All the warmer water temps seemed to be right near the harbor. We need some rain. A buddy of mine and I went 6 for 9. 4 cookie cutter browns and 2 small coho. Wind was almost dead south. All fish came off either j9's, 11's or smithwicks. We did lose a double that both felt heavy. I had an ok brownie season. All my focus is on chasing them marble eyes starting next weekend.
  5. did you try looping the end of the fireline so that th loop is in the clip?
  6. Hey thanks buddy. Although im blushing lol. It was a pleasure to have you join me. Im glad to see that you made it home safely. We didnt have the best conditions yesterday. Glass, to east wind , no cloud in the sky. It was slow for us but at least we had a few brownies give us some excitement. I look forward to fishing with you again Don.

  8. i might play bumperboats on oneida. well unless mr gman fills me in on the details of the fishery up there
  9. You might want to go with the Tohatsu before a Merc. They are the same motor other than the stickers , paint, and color. It will save you a few dollars too.
  10. Did you walk up the creek to the damn. Thats really neat to see the fish stacked up and in thier natural spawning state. I've been up there the last 2 years and I enjoy it.
  11. Nice job Billy. I had to work hard today also. I think that cold front had something to do with it.
  12. Honestly I think your best bet is to look around for a new leftover model. Last year I bought a hight thrust yamaha 9.9 with electric start for about 2000. It was a leftover that never sold but was still brand new in the box. The 3 year warranty starts from when you buy it not what model year it is. It really depends on what price range you are looking at. I will happily do a lil searching for ya on the web if you tell me what you are looking for.
  13. Hit the water at 6:30am and headed east. Surface temps 43-46. Mudline was prety much straight out of the river, it extended out quite deep. 4 lines off inlines, 2 j-9 black/silver. 2 smithys , 1 white belly one orange. Went 5 for 8. Four fish that weighed 4-6 lbs. One that weighed just over 9. Maybe 5 boats total today before we left around 2ish. I really thought today was going to be better but still not bad. All fish were loaded with alewifes and goby. Here are a few. Here is my buddy with the 9lber. DEC angler survey guy said it was the biggest he has seen this year. 25"s.
  14. I'd go with the off shore planer boards. Thats what I use andI really like them. I don't think you need te tattle tale flags. You will know by the bend in the rod if you picked up any weight. Once you get use to the bend in the rod , you will know if you picked a fish up. Also the boards will stall in the water when a fish is on. A couple other things to do is add refelctive tape. You can buy a strip at wal-mart thats like 30 iches long by 1 1/2 inches. Cut strips and add them to the board and to the flag. This will help when the sun hits thm, when th moon hits them and when you shine a light on them. Also if you fish at night, if you lose one you can find it floating easier whn the flashlight hits it. Also write your name on and phone number on them with a sharpie. There are some honest people out there, in case you lost 1.
  15. Hit the water solo at about 11:30am. Headed east again. The dirtier water was 43-45 degrees. Ran a smithy off one inline and a j-9 off the other. Went 6-9 with all the fish in the 3-6lb range. Fished until about 4pm. DEC was at the dock to do an angler survey.
  16. They are more than worth the money. I bought a few and they have held up nice
  17. I watched one guy take a nice brown from shore in Oswego today (Tuesday)
  18. Half of the fish I caught there yesterday had lamprey on them until I netted them, they fell off. Not good
  19. You can turn-in a few zillion condom wrappers and get a free boat!!!!! and if you find 365 used ones you can make it into a tire and call it a Good Year?
