Kevin, you bring back memories... We used to hunt a place in Dexter off of route 3.. A group of us would go up there without dogs and just walk thru the juniper bushes.. We would get our limit almost every time out (usually before noon). We would also get our fair share of shots at grouse (notice how I said shots and not necessarily the grouse themsleves).. Last time I was up that way, the place was posted and owned by a Buffalo farm.. Went to the address on the posted sign and asked for permission and they said no... I guess all good things come to an end... Boy, we had a lot of fun in those days and I agree that often times it was more fun than a deer hunt.

Great buck!! I have seen some big bucks on State land.. In most cases, only the fringes of the State land get hunted and there is plenty of room for the deer to hide.. Add to that the fact that the days of the "big deer drives" seem to be gone and that results in opportunitites like you got at a very fine buck!!! Way to close it out with a godd shot.

I got this same buck on video in a differnt location. His behavior and curiosity further confirm my belief that he is younger than you might first think. not sure why when I upload the picture it saves it as a much smaller file. The original picture is 2mb, so when you blow it up a bit the resolution is great.. I tried from my ipad and my PC and got the same result..
