  1. I would have to say the Fish finder. My luck one of the knuckleheads driving my boat would lead me into shallow water (when I was rigging) and I would hang the ball in the bottom and lose my probe. Sometimes you can tell the fishes mood by the way the fish act when the ball goes by them. With a good fishfinder you can see the fish dive away from the riggers or follow the ball. As you ALL know, those kings will show up in any water temp to feed (especially in late August and September). A good example of fish shying away from the ball was last spring fishing off of I-bay in 140 FOW. I had fish at 40' down and they kept shying away from the ball. I tired longer leads off of the riggers and the SWR rig and nothing would hit. I pulled the riggers and wire dipsys and ran 4 slide divers and boards with drop weights. We ended up with 4 steelies and 1 king in 1 1/2 hours.
  2. 911 Dispatcher at Kodak and first mate for Advocate charters. Will possibly be working on another charter in Oak Orchard this summer also.
  3. Does anyone hae the state of the lake meeting minutes from the other night? I had to work so I could not make it. If anyone has them please post them.
  4. Thanks Legacy. I just could not trust the new owners coming in at the Newport House. My buddy Jason moved out to Sandy last season and loved it. It will be fun meeting new people and finding new honey holes. At least most of the guys I talked to on the radio at Irondequoit are on this site.
  5. I have a picture of a 31" Atlantic I caught in the LOC in 1997. I will have to scan it and post it. I caught it between Webster Park and Hedges in 8 F.O.W. I will have to find the paper work from the LOC. I can't remember the weight off hand.
  6. It will be my first year out of Sandy Creek. I will miss the guys and the fishing off of I-bay.
  7. Now that I see it up close you are right. Nice fish! I did not know you could get the picture to blow up if you click on it.
  8. Looks like a cold water brown to me. Was the tail flat or V shaped?
  9. Ask Yankee Troller. He knows all about McCoy.
  10. Nice! Venison steaks on ice! Hopefully it can get to shore before the wind blows it off shore.
  11. That must have been a couple fun days! It would take a couple pops to pay for that slob.
  12. Scottb, I hope that fish is on the wall. Again nice fish.
  13. Brian Gambell Used to keep my boat in Irondequoit Bay. I'm now at Sandy Creek Marina. My boat name is Escape. It is a 22' Starcraft. It is tan with a brown canvas. I also work on the "Advocate" as a first mate.
  14. Nice steelhead. How much did that pig weigh?
  15. Chris, This was only my second trip to Canadice. I talked with a bunch of people that told me Canadice is the place for nice lakers. We have made 4 trips and caught all lakers. They seem to average 6 - 8 lbs. We get about 3 - 6 a trip. If we get some bows, I will let you know.
  16. It beats those dink pike you have been catching on Braddocks! TJ even caught to throw backers.
  17. These were caught yesterday jigging on Canadice Lake. I use a 26" medium action ice rod with plastics. They don't fight the greatest in the summer but they sure fight like crazy in the winter! The big one weighed 11lb. 11oz. on my digital scale.
  18. I heard that this fish was from somewhere in Sweden?
  19. 24 trolling combos, 2 bait casters, 6 spinning rods, 2 fly rods, 3 ultra lights, and 5 icefishing rods.
  20. Tried it 2 years ago on Conesus and hooked up with one pike. It was a nice one and it ended up winning the battle. Jigging Rapalas are good. They will also hit tube jigs or flukes. I want to try some of the Salmo lures that In-fisherman talks about.
  21. Hans, I have the same problem time to time. I can't figure it out. I think it is because my computer is an old P.O.S. If you figure it out let me know what you found.
  22. Rick, I will be using my new clam Yukon and my new vex in about 1 week. Mark my words. PS. I just could not resist the comment.
  23. Yankee has not replied yet because he is cleaning off his computer monitor
  24. I have used smelly jelly a lot. I have noticed that it seems to work better on lakers and browns. I don't really think it makes that much difference for kings and steelies.
