  3. I have 2 suggestions 1. Blood Run Fishing trolling Rods Love these rods. My boat is literally loaded with them. They were designed specifically for what we do and have more of a "custom" rod feel. I would invite you to the boat to check them out. https://bloodrunfishing.com/collections/rods 2. Okuma Coldwater series I was a huge fan of the Okuma White Diamond series however they discontinued the line. However, when they did that they redesigned the Okuma Coldwater series and now they are by far my favorite Okuma trolling rod series. I tested these last year for Okuma and I actually think these are a step up from the White Diamonds. They have you covered for everything you need. https://www.fishusa.com/Okuma-Coldwater-Custom-Trolling-Rod/
  4. You forgot to add "then box is thrown into cuddy"
  5. Ok, you guys wanted an ice rod product here you go https://legacyrodarmor.com/online-shop/ols/products/rod-armor-yeti-series
  6. All the above... My preference for inside of 15 fow is a mix of shallow sticks and small spoons
  7. yup i can make any size including the smallest of ice rods. Scott inquired about it last winter. I literally custom make everything so any size is achievable. For ice rods its 1" material. I have green, red, white, black, blue as stock colors. I just need overall lengths or the rods themselves.
  8. A great video showing my net release doing work https://www.facebook.com/reel/3913889848896865
  9. Guest Speaker at February 3 LOCBA Meeting Brian C Weidel, PhD from the USGS will be the guest speaker at the February 3rd LOCBA meeting. He will be discussing the results of the 2025 baitfish assessment on Lake Ontario. This annual trawling data is the leading indicator when discussing stocking numbers in the lake and many lake wide decisions hinge on the information that is collected. This and all of our meetings are open to the public and all are invited to attend! When= Tuesday February 3 2026 Time= 7pm sharp Where= Irondequoit Bay Fish & Game Club Brian Weidel is a research fishery biologist with the U.S. Geological Survey Great Lakes Science Center where he leads collaborative research on prey fishes and native fish restoration ecology. 10. So I wanted to introduce my new company to the LOU community www.legacyrodarmor.com I am now a just over a year in and just want to say thanks to those who have already shown their support. I started the company on the idea of creating custom rod sleeves that actually fit our specific application... long trolling rods. I have bought numerous ones in the past but none of them ever fit right and they always lacked personality and or proper function. I now manufacture and stock certain sizes but more importantly I have the ability to create custom orders with colors and lengths specific to the customers need. I have 6 simple stock colors mentioned on the website (black, white, yellow, green, blue, red) but have the ability for just about any color. I am willing build custom orders for any rod size including ice rods! https://legacyrodarmor.com/custom-rod-armor I also have my "Stubby" and "Black Mamba" rod armor series which are available anytime on the website. The "Stubby" series is designed for broken down rods and the "Black Mamba" series is for full stored rods. These are slightly oversized in diameter and available only in one color black but are simple solution for rod protection. https://legacyrodarmor.com/online-shop/ols/categories/rod-armor Along with protective rod sleeves I have created a few other products that us Great Lakes and Finger Lakes trollers need. I have fish towels, fish counters, fish bats, net releases, rod butlers, tippet holders, etc. check everything out at https://legacyrodarmor.com/online-shop Give us a like and follow on Facebook also! https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61571915716408 Contact me with any questions Captain Rob Westcott www.legacyrodarmor.com [email protected] 585-703-0969

  12. I need some dates! If anyone has links to updates for 2026 let me know!
  13. I have been a strict Okuma guy for almost 20 tears. THe only compliment I will give is to the Saltist. I think its a great reel and it gets a nod but that's where it stops for me. I think Okuma has you covered on every application from small early season brown trout reels all the way to a 800 copper reel. The Convector series is bulletproof and just a heads up both the Convector and the Cold Water series have had redesigns in the past 2 seasons. IMO looks were improved and some mechanical items were upgraded but more importantly the drags are now great out of the box. Heres a list of what im using big coppers= Solterra SLX coppers and cores= Convector high speed 30 and 45 series bigger coppers= 55 series standard retrieve not High speed riggers =Coldwater CW-30DHA divers= Coldwater CW-30DHA Feel free to reach out
  14. Greetings fellow anglers: Captains Casey and Rob will be back again and joining us this year is Captain Rick for the 2026 East End Salmon and Trout School. Together, they have over 90 years of experience, countless tournament wins and top 5 finishes. Their experience and knowledge is lake-wide and extensive. This year, we will break the school down in to 2 days to allow us to cover a wide range of topics and species. Many anglers had an interest in learning how to be more successful at catching fish in general, not just king salmon. That Sunday class will focus on multi species fishing and tactics. Keep it as local as it gets! The 3 named Captain's are teaching you based on their experience and conditions on about Lake Ontario, after all you fish Lake Ontario as well. They have a vast amount of experience from east to west and north to south on Ontario. This value cannot be matched from captains from other Great Lakes. The Great Lakes Trolling School is open to beginners, seasoned and professional anglers. The primary focus will be location, tactics, lure choice, programs, your mindset and how varying conditions play into our decisions. Our intention is to help you become a better overall angler, make you think about your decisions, and share our many years of Great Lakes experience. Captain Casey Prisco, Captain Rob Westcott, and Captain Rick Hajecki bring over 90 years of combined experience on Lake Ontario and look forward to sharing their knowledge with you. Those that attended last year, know that we did not hold back any information. 15. Well the muzzy season officially starts today! This is typically my favorite time of the deer season!
  16. the new FH lithium probe is easily the best probe they have ever made. You wont be disappointed.
  17. Great stuff!
  18. yeah same for me!
  19. Naaaahhh It gets slow for me also this time of year. The first week of gun is usually business as usual but with rut winding down, gun season pressure, and warm temps make for a quiet woods right now. Bring on the snow and late season! Morning sits start to get real slow unless you can get deep in the cover. Typically after the holiday weekend the pressure is much less, as people get discouraged, and the afternoons only get better and better. The last week of gun is when I typically switch to hunting afternoons only. Start looking for those food sources now! Move those cameras around! Those bucks are gonna flip a switch and food will be the single most important thing again. When that cold front moves through this week and puts snow on the ground that is where those deer will be! Still a lot of the season left and the fat lady isnt singing yet!
  20. Apparently I was on the "X" that day. Probably the most I have seen in a sit!
  21. Story... The past 3 morning sits have been great. After seeing the weather predicted this week I took some time off from work. My plan was to hunt the same stand 3 days in a row. Cameras have been showing at least one of my shooters walking past my stand each day since the week prior to gun season. From that stand I saw 5 bucks Tuesday, 12 bucks Wednesday, and 6 bucks today. However today was different. This big guy showed up about 730 and I watched him tending a doe about 300 yards out. They slowly worked their way (which took about 45 minutes) from the timber to the field through the hedgerow and finally getting a clear shot. 90 yard shot without a rest ended up low, double lung shot. He mule kicked. And ran into the timber. Text my kid and had him meet there an hour later. Unsure of the shot and not seeing him go down i wanted to give it an hour at the least. I walked to the shot site at the end of the hedgerow and in disbelief no hair or blood in site. After scratching my head for 5 plus minutes we made out way into the woods and there he was piled up 20 yards in. Good stuff! Tag punched!
  22. BBD!
  23. Awesome. Congrats!
