  1. Think scent free... everything you bring into the woods must be scent free. backpack, gloves, calls, bow, arrows, everything must be sprayed. During the entire deer season i only use scent free soap, shampoo, and deordorant. Everything i wear is on a scheduled to be washed twice a week in scent free laundry soap. Once everything is washed it is placed in a rubbermaid storage container and stored there between uses. My base layers are scent lokk which do a great job in wicking away moisture and also controling human scent. I also try to carry my outer layers to the stand so im not sweating up a storm before arrival. Although my clothes may be scent free i always spray down when i arrive. Everything going with me gets sprayed. Rubber boots are also a must. They do a great job of keeping your walk in scent free. The best thing to do is to control scent at every possible level. There are plenty of companies selling scent control products and for the most part they all do the same thing. Ultimately the wind will dictate your success and you must play the wind smart but scent control will definetely give you an advantage.
  2. Congrats to Capt Bob Holden and the Fishing Finactic team beating a field of 15 boats with a 23.5# King
  3. Left the dock Saturday and headed west. We shut down and setup around Bald Eagle and trolled west. Great picture in 60-80 fow all day but it took us a little bit to get them figured out. A few shots off spin doctors and flies but for the most part it was a spoon bite. Divers w/ green halo Spin Doctor/ flies 120 & 144. Blood Run 300' copper w/ white double crush Smartfish. 10 color cores and riggers loaded with a mix of spoons. Ended up 12 for 15 w/ some small kings, a few matures and an 11# Brown for our efforts. Woke up to thunderstorms and high winds on Sunday morning which kept us dockside till about 7. We headed west again today but stopped at Devils nose and setup. We were hoping to find our screen from the day before but we all know how things change overnight. We had a tough time the first half of the morning finding a fishable screen, cold water ,or active fish. It wasnt until 1100 the winds died, the lake layed down and we had some cold water start to roll in. 105 fow was the best screen we found all morning and quickly started to pull mature Kings and steelhead from it. Flasher/fly bite was on today. Green dot SD, Green Halo SD, green/ crush on green Smartfish, and white dbl crush Smartfish all with a mix of flies deployed off Blood Run 300' coppers, 200 & 250 divers, 75' rigger. The only spoon to fire for us was a glow gator stingray off the 90 rigger which fired 4 times. After the worst early morning start of the season were ended up with 10 bites with the big fish of the day 20# and 21# Kings.
  4. great place. did you fish the salt ponds?
  5. 5' leader puts it too close to the copper itself. 40' takes away alot of the swaying effect that copper has in the water. 25-30' is a happy medium.
  6. 30' of 20-30# flouro with spro swivels.

  11. A picture would help. Usually things like that are a sign of maturity, so i assume hes a good buck or we probably would be talking about it. Will he be bigger next year? maybe... but if you get an opportunity especially with the bow, you take him.
  12. It was tough not to fish the inside screen this morning. Inside of 100 fow was absolutely loaded with hooks and bait, so we spent the morning chasing fish inside. After a slow start and an almost nonexistent shallow King bite, we quickly changed gears and snuck into 65-70 fow and targeted Browns. Riggers 50, 50, 60, & 70', 10 color cores, 300' coppers, and divers 100-150' all loaded with spoons, all got bites. NBKs, orange dot, mixed veggie, fruitcake, orange NBK, black fin, green dolphin to name a few. We did dump a major off a 300' copper in which a tight drag led to a bent over hook. Multiple doubles today but also alot of dropped fish. Half of the fish we hooked into we dumped. We just couldnt keep them on. 20+ bites but only half made it to the net. The ones we did net, fell off in the boat. Down temp was critical for us today and finding and targeting cold pockets of water in 65-70 fow was key for us because temps were all over the place in there. Nothing over 10# for us this morning but still a bunch of fat Brownies.
