  1. Did you release the fish or cut it? If you cut it did it have eggs?
  2. Temperature doesnt matter at this point! If they are still in the lake fish the marks. They are in full on river mode.
  3. Normally Tim and I are in full agreement but I think this one is a Coho. The only suspect thing from the pic is the number of spots on the back. Hard to tell from the pic. Mouth, Head and Anal fin say Coho.
  4. They came in the mail on friday. Printed June 24, 2014 arrived at my door Sept 9, 2014.....
  5. Update: According to the website they have issued my Lic I just have not recieved them. I did sign up for my bow and muzzle and I got both my doe tags. Well see If I recieve all in the mail. I found the new website a little convoluted but I expect nothing else from NYS...
  6. Am I the only one who has not gotten it in the mail yet?? Starting to get nervous.
  7. MIchigan it is 12". Also just to clear up any misconsceptions. There is not a single tournament on the US side of the lake where the minimum size is 15". The size limit is in place because we have a daily bag limit. And lets not forget there is also a possesion limit. Many forget that as they are driving home from the lake with a 3 day catch of fillets in there cooler.....
  8. The pro am has never been about kings it is about getting 12 fish each day and besting the field. If i get 12 browns and you have 6 kings I beat you. Lets not forget each fish is worth 10 points. Pro Am strategy it is critical that you start with a base score of 120 if you are a pro or 90 if you are an am. The Oswego Pro AM is timed perfectly to allow good fishing. Kings have been in play almost every year. Even if it capturing just one to put you over the top or capturing 12 to put you back in the game. August is not the time for a pro am. The playing field is level. How many times has Trout One won the tourney out of the little salmon when they participated? It is not about that at all. It is about what can be done to make it atractive to Capts to want to get in. My suggestion is a cash prize to the capt who has a full charter for the tourney that finishes the highest. And I am not talking about $500.00....
  9. Also the pro am is not just a salmon tourney. CMON MAN give the mighty Brown Trout some respect!
  10. Where would the increase in participation happen? AM side? Pro numbers would be even worse then they already are. Maybe you should start an AM only tourney during that time frame Rolmops. Give it a shot and see what happens.
  11. Erie Deery is ballyhoo and Familiar bite is Herring. two totally different baits. Like NK's and Dreamweavers. Some days the fish dont want one or the other. Pick your poison it all works.
  12. I will take it Andy. I will catch up with you this weekend.
  13. You know that twitter posts are limited to 140 characters that include spaces. It does not leave much room to post a full report. Most Capts have a setting where it links all there social media together into one post so they only have to type once. So what might look like advertising to you probably is because that post is also on there Facebook page which is advertising. 140 characters stopped at Capts in my post. Just so you see how many characters you can actually type on twitter. The problem I have with it is if I was paying for a charter I certainly would not want to see the Capt on his cell phone making a post every 10 minutes about how great the fishing is. I would ask for my money back...
  14. Cut it into pieces and put in a dumpster after you strip it down.
  15. Ed, Thanks for your imput. I am not saying what we have is set in stone. Actually we are looking at several changes going into next year so as I said any imput anyone wants to give us please feel free. You can shoot Vince, Tom A, Kevin Yerge, Myself, Rick H a PM or an email most all of our emails are available off the internet. Or if somebody wants to be involved let us know. I think more annoucements at the host tournies is a great idea. We did have a nice segment at the WHI which I know you did not attend. But for sure we need more exposure and hype that what it is all about. See you on the water, Brian
  16. Ed, This is good discussion. How do we incorporate all 5 tourneys with 3 different formats? And still use the big box number? The Oak is a 10 fish per day tourney then we have 2 12 fish per day tournies and finally we have 2, 6 fish tourneys. One at the beginning of the year when kings are the smallest and one at the end when kings are there biggest? And with the Oak format of only 5 kings your box will never be a huge 300 like you can score in the two pro ams. We are all open minded when it comes to creating a scoring system that can work and not require fishing any one particular tournament. Keep in mind the system must be able to work with three different formatted tournaments. We also want more then 6 teams to create a chase. If we have to have all 5 tournies as a mandatory involvement we are looking at 5 or 6 teams competing. Not really very prestegious at that point. THis last year we had 15 teams involved which is the most I can remember in recent history. We are all here to make this the best Overall Cup we can make it. Imput from the players is what we want. We are already looking forward to next years chase! Thanks, Brian
  17. In honor of this thread I am going to wear my "Fillet and Release" Tshirt on saturday while I bonk those innocent tasty fish right between the eyes!
  18. These trout unlimited guys like KIng Davy here are a real hoot!! I had some DEC folks out on the water the other day and I brought this topic up. They giggled when I read them snipits of this thread... I can assure you the KING SALMON is not going anywhere on the NY side of the lake. They are the only predatory fish that can control the alewive. And lets not even talk about the revenue generation. It is unfortunate the political machine is churning in Canada and applying so much pressure to an Atlantic salmon stocking venture that would never show any merit or success. I brought up later fall egg stripping. It is an egg viablity issue as much as a water temp issue. 54 to 58 degrees has historically been the best temp to take eggs at for the Hatchery.
  19. Gotcha Rich. I call all 3 year olds mature as well. I dont think we get a whole lot of 4yr olds anymore. Most mature and run at 3 it seems. Pretty much anything over 14lbs is probably a "Mature" this year with there slower metabolism over the winter and spring.
  20. Rich I am seeing the opposite. Almost every mature has been wild and not stocked. This mature class is still clipped. I think I can count on 2 hands the number of stocked matures I have caught. Also I have been checked by DEC 3 times with catches of kings and only 3 fish in those 28 have been stocked....Something is up.
  21. Same exact thing happened to me on a Baha I bought in Florida. Survey came back excellent. Boat was rotted to the core. There is no re course on a surveyor. The first line in any survey report is " This is the opinion of the surveyor" Bingo no recourse!
  22. Updated 7/22/12 All comes down to the A-TOM-MIK invitational. Everyone has a chance to improve on one of there days and the bonus pts for finish is everything! They are paying 50% 30% 20% so there is opportunity to win some cash! Good Luck!
