  1. Roto-zip will work perfect. Just trace your new line and cut it.
  2. Not the one I was thinking of.
  3. Tim, Gald you and your crew are ok. Dad and I had a similar situation about 12 years ago with our Sea Ray. Same scenario with water being thrown by the belts. I managed to get to a beach and stick my outdrives in the sand while we plugged the scuppers and the bilge pump caught up with the help of some bailing! Ours turned out to be cracked scuppers. Everyone who has scuppers should inspect them frequently as they get worn from even just UV light. Situations like this remind everyone to check your ditch bag and inspect life jackets! Brian
  4. Thanks Greg! Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. I would scrap the Volvo trannys for a pair of Hurths, I did it when I blew one. They will bolt right on. And I would also use a dampening plate from crusader on that starboard motor since it will be the opposite rotation tranny. Low speed tranny clink won't be annoying. I would only deal with Marysville marine in Ohio. When you call ask for Brian he is one of the best in the business. Phone number is 608 825 3878. Keep in mind when you change your ratio you may have to tweak your prop pitch. No biggie but something you may want to consider. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. We have been playing with the 60lb copper for the last month or so and are very impressed! For tourney fishing it is fantastic. Less line in the water and greater depth! Sent from my DROID RAZR using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. I would agree with this! I spoke with Gregg about his test and he told me did everything he could to find stable water. He ran 12 miles offshore found a surface temp of 43deg, down 50 was 42deg and down 100 it was 41 deg. That is pretty stable water all things considered.
  8. I am with you Rick, I have some reservations about the smart troll thing myself. To me the true test is to run it in all conditions and let it hit the bottom. Keep records and over time build your own dive curve. I have played with the 60 pd for the last month and I am starting to get a handle on it, in my own spread.
  9. HA HA!!! I thought about it for 30 seconds!! Damn!! Hey Pete I can pick it up for you at the oak! But it will cost you one spoon in the lot!
  10. Rick here is the source. A good read and very interesting. I have some personal numbers on the 60 copper that is just outstanding if you are a deep copper fisherman. We should be seeing some more data soon at slower speeds. Here is the link: http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/forums/showthread.php?p=132182#post132182 Just to clarify I am on the Blood Run pro staff but the product flat out works.
  11. You wouldnt have much success with this approach. It can be done with Otter Boards but I still wouldnt recommend it. It will be much harder to get a decent hook set as you really wont be able to have it tight between the rod tip and the release.
  12. Like I said to each his own. Some of my best sets include 5 to 10 passes after the knot. So I dont want to limit myself to always setting the copper in the same place.
  13. I wrap the rubber band around the backing a few times then around the front clip on the board. I also use the pin on the back of the board make sure the backing is in that. I wrap it tight so the board wont release when a fish hits it. But when you reel the board up you can quickly break the rubber band and pull the pin. Hope this makes sense. As far as the guys using mono in between to each his own. Just not something I need to do.
  14. I use a wrap of electrical tape underneath then tie on the backing. It realy gives the Power pro something to bite into and it will never spin on the spool. I should have stated above that I only clip the copper to the release when it is on the Big board. If I am using a church board then I will wrap a rubber band around the backing and clip it into the church board.
  15. The Blood run has a significant amount of silicone coating on it. After fishing the 30lb all week last week and struggling the first day with slipping until I figured it out. With Blacks I believe you add more twists. if you use a pinch pad (capt. Jacks) pinch it down an extra click this should help.
  16. There is no need to add more knots, just gives it more chance to fail and add mono. If you use Scotty releases you can clip to either the backing or the copper. Most guys will clip to the copper. I do both depending on how far out I am running it. Some will add rubber bands and put it in the release.
  17. No real mechanic at Salmon Country but good docks. Mikes has a great mechanic and okay docks. I have spent years at both and now reside at Wrights Landing in Oswego. It was best to seperate my mechanic from marina owner. I also burn a whole lot less fuel fishing out of Oswego even with paying more for a dock I still spend less then I used to in the little salmon. Mikes also has key operated fuel pumps which is very convenient. Salmon country's fuel pumps are only open when they are.
  18. We will have our first meeting of the year tonight at 7 pm in the lodge at Gander Mountain in Cicero, NY. Our topic is May Walleye the seminar will be put on by a couple of local pros who understand the walleye in Lake Ontario and Oswego Harbor in May. We will also be drawing for our Lowrance HD8. See you all then!
  19. I wanted to pass this along that the net pen work day for the Little Salmon river is this Saturday 4/13 at Salmon Country Marina. I talked with Roy Hunsburger this morning and he wanted me to pass along that he could use some help in getting the pens ready. He will start at 9am Saturday morning. Please shoot me a pm if you can help so I can let him know. He says to bring a pair of wire cutters. We may also have some Boy Scouts there from the local troop to help out. Thanks Brian
  20. I have 3 Cisco Track Downrigger mounts for sale. They will fit any brand of rigger and will slide in any standard track. They also have the plate anodized in gold if you are looking to add some Bling to your ride. I will take 135.00 for all 3. Buyer pays shipping or I will be driving from Cortland to Sodus the next few weekends so I could meet you along that route. Send a PM if interested. Brian
  21. This is Dead as of today. Sen maj leader Reid will not bring this to the floor out of fear of backlash in the 2014 elections. Maybe now Sen Swinstein will retire...I have heard enough out of her. I almost wish they would have voted it would have been nice to have a list of who to vote out in 2014. This legislation would never have passed the House. Makes King Andrew look even more stupid for his gun legislation here in NY...
  22. Same here. I have 5 riggers mounted all on Tracks. No problems with 3in pedestals and 15 pd sharks. Track is designed for this.
