Here's a story.... Friday before gun season, this Dairy farmer comes over to the camp I stay at. He Says " Well boys, its an end of an era. I bought the property. You guys are out. I will be a nice guy and allow you to get your stands." I call him on the fact he hasn't closed on the property yet ( only been for sale 2 weeks) and he has zero legal right to post it or kick us out. The guy looks around the camp and says "Well guys this used to be a nice camp....I don't want any trouble to happen...know what I mean?" I'm about to jump off the couch at this point... We ask the guy to leave.... My buddies tell me its not worth it...and they don't want any issues with the locals. Before the guy left he said there was an agreement between the landowners and him...and he sent them money already.... We called the landowner and they did have a verbal agreement, but hadn't received any payment.. Sooo.... The quest for a lease or possible land purchase starts. Man.... I feel bad for you guys.... Try having the property you have hunted for 30 years get bought out from under you by some A$$Hole ( Snuck behind my back on a bid). Get hurt the day before Gun season taking stands off the same property... Shooting hand and arm in a F-in cast .. and have to sit and read all the big buck posts.... Yea....we were going to stay in Islamorada ( no brainer there...) But the hotel we were going to stay at has been cancelling reservations well into 2018. I was initally going to be in the keys on vacation next April.In light of the recent hurricane damage, we decided to rent a house in Ft.Lauderdale. Any of you guys have any info on some decent charters? Not looking for a Lake Ontario Chicken Charter type....offshore pelagics is the quarry. The Genny gorge would be perfect area to use it... The Officers always face the danger of getting bricks thrown at them from the bridge.... Now all they have to do is sit up on the bridge, run the drone down...take good video of violators...then stop them as they come up.... I think its a step in the right direction.... Personally I could care less what technology they use....because I play by the rules. I'm not a huge fan of the DEC's lake management...however I appreciate the law enforcement officers. I understand how short staffed they are and what obstacles they face in prosecuting cases. Every time I've been stopped I always thank them for the hard job they do. My 9month old Choc was out at Jim Beverly's for the month of August. Jackson was retrieving birds at 3 months, but he needed some polishing.... Its funny how I see the same characteristics in him as my Parker boy. Very soft personality, but very focused when in the field. Gator.... Can't agree more... After all the Steelhead and Browns around this year, there better be no crying about numbers being down.... There is absolutely enough bait in the lake.... After all the kings I've cleaned this year ( all different size bait in them) ..... Statistics and all the skewed information means nothing... Brian's Tiara is an unbelieveable fishing machine..... I have fished with him and Marlene a few times. Every time I geton the Tall Tales, I say to myself " Damn this is one hell of a rig". The twin 502 motors move that big heavy boat through 3footers like they weren't even there....
