  1. There is a pay launch sight at the very southern tip of the lake in Glen Haven. I'm pretty sure it will take a 20'er. http://www.theglenhaven.com/ This is the restaurant across the street. I think their sight has driving directions. Rusty
  2. I had mine done at Brinson Marine near Syracuse. They asked me to bring it back in the spring. They have someone who collects the plastic for recycling. Rusty
  3. Nice work Mark, I was out Tuesday morning. It was beautiful. We didn't do as well as you, but its nice to hear an encouraging report. Maybe this weekend. Rusty
  4. I have quite a few of them, but didn't know they were still made. A couple of rumors said they were no longer being made. I really like the single hook. I'd be interested in finding out where to get more. Quality lure from a local guy. Rusty
  5. Mako, I get mine from Mike Detomaso (?) who runs the fly shop at Bass Pro. He ties them himself, and is not allowed to sell them at the store. He does his business through the mail. They seem like a quality product, however, I've never caught anything on them, mostly because my boat is put up around the 1st of October. I've also ordered them from fish307. http://www.fish307.com/streamerflies.aspx Good Luck - Rusty
  6. Howdy all, I switched to The Farmer's place/ The Deerman in South Edmonston about three years ago. I had been going to a popular shop near Rochester for a few years befor that. The deerman does not add pork or water to his products, leaving them with a true venison flavor and texture. It's a little out of the way, in the middle of no-where, but it's a nice drive through the countryside. Two thumbs up, Rusty
  7. Howdy all, Congrats to Cold Steel for their second first place finish in the series. It's pretty obvious who has the East Cup, but what about the Lake Cup ? Thanks- Rusty
  8. Half hitch the rubber band around the line that goes to the fishing reel and pull it snug. Clip the cheater leader to the ruber band, and to the main fishing line. The rubber band will keep the cheater from sliding on the main fishing line until a fish hits. Rusty
  9. I'm pretty sure the smallies need to be 12 " to keep now. The reg was changed a few years ago. Rusty
  10. Thanks boys, I upped the sensitivity, and kicked up the ping speed. I was able to see the jig on the bottom in 80 fow. Rusty
  11. Howdy all, Did a late afternoon north Owasco trip on friday. The first laker came on a b/s smithwick on the 6 color lead core. The fish hit as I was connecting the in-line planer board. The other three hit on a b/s R&R spoon on the bottom in 50-70 fow. Noticed a fair amount of bait. I think the surface was low 60's. I wasnt running the down probe. I cant seem to get the Lowrance HDS5 to mark the 1&1/2 oz jig I've been trying. Any suggestions I what setting I might need to change ? Thanks- Rusty
  12. Howdy all, I had a similar problem. My fix was to take the styrofoam from another in-line board, and add it to the one I use for pulling copper/lead. Seems to work fairly decently. Rusty
  13. Couldn't find 'em. Perhaps there not up yet. Rusty
  14. Howdy all, Made it to Owasco for a late afternoon troll. Did a 21 " laker on the bottom in 50' on a green dot SD with an A-tom-mik fly. The rest came on a 6 color lead core with a stickbait, also over 50 fow. I didn't think to check the surface temp. and I didn't have the Depth Raider down. SOG was about 2.3 I marked a good school of bait near Fays. I dropped a jig through them, but didn't get any action. It was nice to finally have to get the net out. Rusty
  15. Howdy All, Grandpa Fish On and I tried casting lures along the outlet. No action, although I did see lots of fish. We threw lures along Bucks and Martins point. Gary got one Northern, and that was it. Might be time to get to jigging for Lakers. I got an email from Sirbean, and boated three and lost three. Rusty
  16. I'm in favor of having a one day per week, you pick the day type format. Right now I'm in D.C.,so I won't be adding anything to the Cayuga team for May. Good luck fellas ! Rusty Oh yeah- Just bought a Tekota 600 LC to use as a 200' copper set up. I hope its big enough. I have a 700 that I run 300' on. That reel is pretty big.
  17. Mark, I think I'm gonna go with the Cayuga thing. One- Its quite a bit closer, and B) I' don't know nuttin 'bout no Seneca Lake. I do bad enough on the lakes I know. Rusty
  18. Rusty1034 is in. I'll be fishing Team Cayuga with Grandpafishon. The Boats' name is Cinderella Story. Not gonna make the May 1st date though. See you out there. Rusty
  19. Howdy all, There's a picture of a large lake trout hanging on the wall of Doug's in Skaneateles. I think it might be a 14 lber. Anyway, the caption with the picture tells how a smaller laker was found in the belly of the big fish when it was cleaned. That should be reason enough to stop there and have a sandwich while you look at the picture. Rusty
  20. honu, the pheasant hunting in NY is generally 1) on state land with released birds or 2) on a preserve with released birds. Hunting w/ o a dog is more likely to be just taking your gun for a walk. I f you do try to hit a preserve, make sure you inquire about the habitat. I went to one a few years back somewhere between Syracuse and Rochester. At first the guy running the place told me he was going to release the birds in the hardwoods. When I balked at that, he sid he would release them in a field. It ended up being a cut corn field. Also, many preserves offer Hungarian Partridges. I prefer them over pheasants because they taste better, and you get more birds for your dollar. Good luck- Rusty
  21. That settles it. I'm heading back to Owasco tomorrow. I need more than one fish. Any clues on GPS speed SlimJim ? Thanks- Rusty Rusty
  22. R.B, Get a handheld gps and use the speed from that. The paddle wheel typa on the stern are not what you want for trolling. Rusty
