  1. I was out Monday out of the bay. I ran 2 flat lines and 2 off the downriggers which were all of a foot down. I used to just run the back lines off releases connected to the boat handles. We went 17-21 so it does work. I find i get less of a mess this way and less snags as well. Since there is a 3 rod limit now thinking of going with boards again, but when fishing close in the sprig time and dodging other boats sometimes less is more. If you go out now, boats are not an issue.

    I Bay Perch???

i was out yesterday in the lake. keep on the west side of the channel.
  3. North end launch at end of 590. Outlet is not bad if you keep to the west side. Bridge is still in so keep your head down.
  4. Was out yesterday from 8:30 - 1:30. Day started with a dead battery but ended up 17-21 on cookie cutter browns. All between 3-6 lbs. Stick bait between 8 and 12 feet did the trick. Once the wind picked up it was hard to keep the speed down. Water was nice and green to start but i think that is down at Gina by now. Nice to get back out and a fun way to start the season. I kept a couple browns for family and the meat was a dark orange. Most browns I have caught this time of year are a whiter color. but all these fish were bright in color. I will post pictures of fish later, but they were nice fat and healthy. Maybe the little guys that never ran the creek or came out early.
  5. thank you will let ya know how we do if the wind will play nice.
  6. Was looking to get out on Monday. How does the launch look? Any issue with ice or logs there?
  7. Last year we were out there March 9th. There was no boat traffic. The last couple years the key to finding fish was to find the green water and fish it. the fish seemed to like the stained waters. If you found it you found fish if not keep going East til you do. i am sure you could jig up some fish out there.
  8. The structure out there is pretty interesting. My guess is you may loose a lot of jigs out there as I have lost many while using a drop shot. Spring would be the best time for it when the browns are back in there.
  9. if you dive around there you should be very careful. you can feel the water pushing an pulling. I would think it may be dangerous currents down there.
  10. I was hoping it was 20. I think you talked to my father and I at the docs while we were gassing the boat up. Picture out there was great, looks like no one could get them to turn on. I guess it will be a couple more weeks. we took some lakes in close Saturday afternoon but pretty quite weekend.
  11. saw a doe and 2 yearlings off hedges in 30 foot of water. pushed them back towrds shore and they bolted up the sand hills. Wonder what they are doing out that far.
  12. Check out the trib page on the main fishing forum at the bottom there are some good posts on the oak from guys that fish it quite often. It sounds like the browns are still up there. The fish we caught in the lake a couple weeks ago looked like they were right out of the creek. Good luck.
  13. i was planning on getting out this weekend until I saw the weather. NW winds on friday and strong West on Saturday. I generally don't like to take chances this time of year. 35 degree water is nasty.
  14. Matty22 that was us. Getting back in was interesting. A sheet of ice blew into the channel. It wasn't to thick so easy to get through. I was more concerned about the trees that were floating by the bay. Where you held up the fish is where we caught all 6. Once is calmed down a bit the bte shut off. It was good to get out that is for sure.
  15. Took 6 on Saturday. all around ship builders. Green and Blue were the colors. all but one was decent size 5-8 lbs. Only one that was silver the rest looked like recent arrivals out fo the creek. Lake was choppy till noon. Once it started laying down the fish stopped. Good start to the season and a good way to cure cabin fever. Watch out for Logs and ice. there was a lot of debry from the river out there.
  16. OK i know I am way early to ask this but anyone check on the launch at I bay or the genny? I don't mind breaking some Ice.
  17. I have the same boat you Just got. You are going to love it. I have nothing to say but good things so far. Picked mine up int 2009. I use it for everything from trolling Lake O to fishing for bas and perch. Great boat.
  18. It is 50 right now. Last year first time out was 3/19 and we did well. Only a month away.
  19. By the way the same guy has caught nothing the other 15 times he was out. We have caught 15 in a night but most nights if you catch one it is a great night.

    I bay perch yet?

Thanks for the info. i am going to give it a shot on wednesday. Siver bass over the island and largemouth in normal spots, where do you normally find the gills? Normally don't fish for them but with young ones on board just want to make sure he has a good time.
  23. taking a buddy and his son out Wednesday. Wondering if the perch are in the bay yet. It is a little early but everything seems to be a tad early this year. Anyone know if they are on the drop off yet?
  24. I haven't been out yet but it has to be close. If you get out let us know. Might give it a try this weekend.
