  1. It is a separate run to the fuse box. I asked about the unit on here and was told to upgrade. Live and learn the hard way. I was just hoping they would have replaced unit for discount is all. I had a crappy 30 dollar one i replaced with this one. i can move the helix up front when i am up there. Same power and cables. I remember the good old cays where you could bring your graph in at the derby to get them serviced and ugly stick would send you a new rod no questions asked if it broke. Wow i sound like an old man.
  2. Humminbird -- really bad experice with them Just called Hummingbird for the 197c DI unit for the front of the boat when i am using the trolling motor. The other day on Erie is just stopped. So i tried to call in and waited for an hour as i was the next in line and never got to talk to anyone. Figured i would try on line. They asked how i had it set up and informed them power was good and it worked for my Helix 5 on the dash. They informed me it would be 100 dollars to service the unit. It only cost 80 new. They said nothing they can do and have a good day. Man, i used to really like this company. Guess i am going with Lowrance now. Just a warning about the company. Rant over.

    I-Bay fishing

Launch at the south West end. you would have to cross the bay.
  4. Thanks for starting this up. i had a blown out knee and this thread made it easier to deal with. i am going to finish setting up cameras this week and scout pretty heavy. Good luck to all this season .
  5. Thanks for the information. I will give it a try this year.
  6. Were you feeling the bottom with the weight? Pending depth i like 1/2 OZ and make sure you can feel it bumping on the bottom. I like cross tail shads on it. Seem to work best for me. I use a palomar knot and then feed the string back in from the top so hook is facing straight up. About a foot to the bottom. Have done well on Erie doing this.
  7. What do you do to can fish? Honestly never thought of this. For venison are you cooking everything then can it? Sounds interesting to try.
  8. I heard Mitchel's is open on other side of the channel. Small boat launch at south end.
  9. Pretty sure for taxes unless it is over $500 you can't claim it. Total donations need to be over that amount. I mean if you donate a bunch of them it will add up. I could be totally off base but when i donated a crappy car it did not change my tax return.
  10. Thank you for this. My buddy and i were walking the hunting land and said wow look at that hop tree. Now i know it is iron wood tree good for firewood. You helped me learn today!!!!
  11. Was there last Saturday. Coast Guard was telling people to slow down. I did no wake out to the end of the poles in the channel. They did not yell a me but the did to the guy that went flying by me and slowed down when he hit the bay.
  12. As of yesterday you can not put your boat in. Docks still under water and launch is fenced off. Buddy launched at the South end the other day which is just a dirt ramp but would take a while at 5 MPH to get to lake.
  13. I was told the docks at the river launch are under water. Can anyone confirm?
  14. Hmm lawn chair a cooler of beer on July 4rth. I predict 2 fights and at least 4 wrecked boats. Who designed this monster of a train wreck? Same guy that put 5 round abouts on the way to launch at I BAY. At least those don't have high curbs.
  15. I was there yesterday. The curbs are horrible and i only have a 17 foot boat. I am not sure why i paid 8 bucks to some random girl with a money bag when the dont even have the tool booth set up. the staging area is awkword at best. The launch is a test of how long can you back down a giant hill while remaining straight. Hopefully they will make it better when it is complete. Nice long docks thougg and shorter run to the lake.
  16. Thanks. I get it but that still sucks. Figured it was like launching in march.
  17. I was there yesterday and it was opened. When did they close it? Is there signs there? Was planning on going tomorrow.
  18. sounds like a good plan to me. Doesn't sound like your a jerk about it. Captains have to know you have money laid out for lodging and travel. Captain already pointed out weather may be an issue. Give him a quick call and see what his thoughts are.
  19. Plenty of lakes an hour drive away. I fish Honeoye, Conesus, Skeaneatas and Erie. Eris is a lot of fun but can be just as nasty as Lake O. have not had a lot of luck on bass in Lake O for a while, but you can find them out deeper than they are normally fished in other lakes.
  20. Bring waders if launching. Docks were under the water yesterday. The first 10 feet at least.
  21. IBAY 5/1 sorry about the late report. Could not fish in the lake from IBAY to shipbuilders. There were so many logs. dock parts, and garbage in the water that it was like playing dodge ball. The lake was like chocolate milk. Fished the bay for a while caught a sheapshead. There were several trees in the launch and at the end of the dock so be careful.
  22. You think after 35 years of doing this It would be second nature. Last year during the shakedown was that nasty storm that went from 0 to holy crap in 10 minutes. we had ice and snow all over the boat. I am counting this one as a win. Having fish for dinner tonight as well.
  23. IBAY 4/2 Got out about 7:30. Saw 8 or 9 boats out today. Water temp was 39 everywhere. Went 3-3 on browns. Biggest was around 6. One dock is in at the launch. We did see a pretty big tree floating half way between shipbuilders and Webster Pier. Other than forgetting the down riggers it was a good first trip. Boat ran good and was a nice day out there.
  24. Ibay should be open. No idea if it is loaded up with perch but should be able to get out.
