Pulled a couple 8-10# kings and a few small rainbows mixed in. Dropped 2 wire hits back to back but, didn't feel like big fish. The waves weren't that bad, but the wind made it difficult to control the boat unless you were going with it.

I was having the same issue with tackle this evening. I didn't loose any baits but, had to retie 3 flies. Even the last small salmon ripped up the fly leader. Have to remember to retie that before it goes back out. The hooks on one treble were smashed with one point breaking off in a salmons mouth as I tried to unhook it.

Doubled on 20# kings between 150 and 180fow. Both green echips with green dots/hammer flys. By far our best set up this summer. 1st fish on the 115 rigger, 2nd on wire out 240. Nebie dropped another screamer. Then boated a 8#king and 5#steelhead. All in that same area.

After any king bite or land I always check hooks fly leader and leader back to the dipsey. Even if your running 50# on your fly you will want to retie if you feel any abrasion. May keep it out of the water a little longer, but you'll be confident in your tackle. Line is the cheapest part so check it often. Even spoon bites off riggers. Check the 15-20 ft of leader to the release. Hope this helps with less breakoffs. Bill

Cool video. How long are you streaching your fly behind the spinny? Looks kind of long in the vid. Usually 21-24" this time of year is best.

I fished out of oceancity about 10 yrs ago on a tuna trip. We chunked for the whole trip and only produced a dolphin and a 40# bluefin. I would not recommend it. However if your not staying there and are looking for a great offshore trip, head down to Oregon inlet NC about 4 hours further, but some of the best offshore fishing along the coast. I would never think twice driving the extra 4 hours. Oregon inlet post great fishing reports and depending on when you go you can rent a great beach houses for a fraction of what you would pay for a hotel stay. Came back from a 2 day offshore trip in may with over 400# of dolphin and yellowfin tuna.

Had a prerigged 300 copper tangle and had to cut off the mono leader. It was tied together. Is there a knot to retie or use spro swivel?

Rainbows were crushing the Carbon 14 this past weekend off I-bay. By far one of my fovorite spoons.

I never targeted them until last year. On days when the salmon bite is slow or non existent you can always pull lakers. As long as it is calm. Late morning is a great time to switch over. Very easy spread of 2 riggers on the bottom pulling hammerhead cowbells. If they are down there you will catch them no matter what time of day it is. 2 rods will also keep you very busy. Slimy but fun when not much else is happening. Bill

Worked out to 150 fow off webster park. Not much on the screen. After an hour and a half, decided to slow down and put down the cowbells. Steady pick of 5-9# lakers. Between 100-150 fow. Later in the morning started marking bait and fish higher in the water column. Couldn't get anything else to go.

Went out late in the morning on the new boat shakedown (10am-12pm). Set up in 50fow off the bay. 2 cores on boards, 2 wires and 2 riggers. Started marking lakers so changed the program a little and slowed down. Ended up pulling 5 lakers and one small shaker king on the 10 color. 90-120fow off webster park. No size biggest 7#. Good thing, everything we mounted ran great. Just have a lot of tackle to organize. Bill

I finally measured the bases and the holes are 4" apart at the center. Do you think they would fit? Bill

Anyone try pulling 300 coppers off offshore boards. Tried them off church walleye boards last year and they pull back pretty far. Just wondering if it is worth it to try on an offshore.

I have used blacks for years and a lot of times they wont release on small fish or lakers. Ran them last year tightened down with rubberbands and had a lot better success. Didn't miss but a couple releases, and you can see the small ones that don't release. For a few bucks for a few hundred at staples I would try that first. Bill

We fished it wednesday with the same story. Bounced all around the bay where we usually get them. Only boated about 8, 2being keepers in 10 fow by the 2nd markers. Sodus is reporting them in tight. I would try the markers or shallower. We worked from 60 fow to 10 fow. Hope this helps. Bill

Went out of the river also. Ran down to just b4 Russel. Put 4 boards out and immediatly hooked up. While bringing in first fish 2nd inside planer fires. Boated a 4-5lb smallmouth and similar size brown. Worked down to Round pond. Pulled lines and ran to where first hooked up. Proceeded to troll all the way to the mouth of I-bay only boating 1 more brown. Possibly a couple short hits that were missed. Water looked the best just west of the bay but didn't hook up in there. Packed it in at 1130am

Last year I picked up a couple rebel small stick baits in Bass color for about 2 bucks a piece, to try to resemble golby's. Fished it wednesday in colored water off I-bay, and it took most of the fish. Approx 3" straight stick. Bill

Fished wednesday 3/15. Docks are in, bridge is still in so you have to be able to fit under it. Fished out of ourr 18ft CC Whaler. Cleared the bridge by about 10". Fishing was good. Ran 4 boards with stick baits. 9 browns in 3hours biggest 7lb. Not a bad shakedown. Everything ran well. Bill
